88 posts in this topic

They set the standard for this Defense, which all rookies who come in have to live up to, if they want to play on this D.......Play like a Raven, and next man up all day long....:)

Does anyone else have that sad feeling, when it hits you that Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are now gone. It is a blessing that I (we) got to see them both literally light up on the field.

Thanks for the memories, Ed. You were/are truly one of a kind and gave us fans many unforgettable moments. Your innate instincts to know where the ball was going to be is legendary and while a few times you guessed wrong, the vast majority of times you were spot on. Thanks again old friend and know you shall remain in the hearts and minds of all Ravens fans forever more!

Without the swift high kick from 12 in that playoff game his hip might could've lasted another 3 to 4 yrs. But no excuses, hands down GOAT.. Thank you for giving this team and community your all.

My favorite Raven. Now that Troy and him are officially retired there are no more elite Safeties in the league right now. There are some good ones, but no elite ones. Ed Reed is the best Safety of this century thus far.

I didn't even need to read this article, because I already knew everything he has done. In other words, I didn't need to REED this article.

Truly one of the greats. We always hate to see such a talented player age. He was nearly mystical at times with his ability to retrieve passes meant for the other teams receivers. Will always remember him and his play.

now he can come coach these DBs...

going to be an interesting race for the HOF with he and Polomalu competing along with Patrick Willis. one thing is for sure, I will be there for Ray Lewis' induction, and Ed Reed's.

We all love you Ed! You were my childhood hero and favorite Raven to ever play. I seriously miss the excitement of watching you on the field, especially overtime the ball was in the air and everyone just knew you would be there to make the play.

We all knew this time was coming, and I'm so glad we are a part of it. So many years other teams feared him back there. So many great plays. The game is losing a legend. Thanks Ed for all you have done for this organization.

Reed compering himself to Sanders is probably legit, but not for the same reasons. They both actually deserted the one and only team they ever played for. Sanders left the Lions hanging out to dry, by just leaving and never letting Detroit know about it, to try and replace him. Reed left B'more after a Super Bowl for the almighty dollar. There are two big differences though. Sanders was still on the top of his game when he left, while Reed was pretty much washed up as he exhibited in Houston and NY. Also Sanders WAS never heard of again while Reed has been all over all types of media for the last two years about this, play, retire, play retire deal.

Not sure anyone mentioned this, yet. But I've always felt Ed Reed built a 1st ballot HOF résumé.

After Troy Polamalu retired ESPN and others wrote about how he might be 1st Ballot but it's not as clear cut as it were a few years ago.

- with Ed retiring in the same offseason there is no way 2 Safeties would ever go 1st ballot together.
