Polamalu and Reed retiring in the same year. When modern day fans think of safties these  guys immediately come to mind.  This is another reason  why the AFC North is top shelf.

Favorite player of all time.... G.O.A.T.

Thank you for the memories, Ed!

I'm gonna force myself to forget he played on other teams as well... I wish I understood football as much as I do now to fully appreciate what he brought every week back in his early days.

HOF, 2020.... Statue next to Ray, 2016..... Hope it happens!

Also, these are too good not to share:

@KVanValkenburg: Ed Reed story: He was so thrifty, for years he drove equivalent of a Ford Taurus. Teammates w/ Bentleys teased him so much. He didn't care.

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: He bought a big butt farm outside Atlanta & a big tractor to till the fields. In offseason, insisted on riding it himself. Weekly.

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: The Super Bowl season, the mutiny was real. Players were mad, team about to implode. ER defused it w/ speech: Respect the coach.

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: He'd scare his teammates with the stuff he'd remember. Formations that appeared once, 5 years ago. They wondered: Is he autistic?

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: I once ask him to do a Q&A. "Ok Kev, find me tomorrow. Probably do it." Next day I see him: "I've never met you b4 in my life!"

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: He told a teammate once he purposefully grew out his crazy beard and dressed like a homeless person so he'd be bothered less.

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: When Hurricane Issac flooded E. St. John's HS in LaPlace, La, it ruined all FB equipment. Ed calls coach out of blue, replaces it.

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: I once told him I'd heard he was going to graduate school in the offseason. "Someone is lying about me! (silence) Ok, I am going."

@KVanValkenburg: ER story: Instead of answering Qs after AFC Championship loss in 2011, he put on headphones an sang Love TKO by Teddy Pendergrass to media

Love you, Ed!!!!!

I shudder at the reaction of either Ravens or Steelers nation if one gets in before the other.

Congrats to

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see him in Canton. Last Ravens game I went to was the one where he broke his own record for longest interception return. Also can we pin this thread? I think it is worthy of a pin here

SO glad that Reed was able to get his SB ring before his career ended.  Completely deserved it.  Not only was he the best safety of all time, he was a class act.  My favorite player of all time and that won't change.

My Ed Reed story:

I was fortunate enough to attend SB 47 in New Orleans.  During the game I got a text from a person I knew asking what jersey I was wearing.  Of course, I was wearing my Reed jersey.  Just minutes after I sent that text, Reed got his interception.  Gave me chills.

Thank you Ed Reed for everything you did for this team.  GOAT.

For one last time:  REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!

Greatest Safety of All-Time, no question. Thanks for the memories Ed, and I think we'll forget about Houston and that god awful Jets uniform we saw him in.

I remember going to a game with my brother and some friends against the Titans his rookie year ...we were a little late getting to the stadium, and went the wrong way to get our seats, so ended up walking completely around. We knew that the Titans had the ball first from the PA...got up to the section, and the crowd erupted as we were walking through the gate - Reed had blocked the punt after the Titans were held to a 3 and out, then picked it up and ran it back for a TD. He scored before we found our seats

One of many fond memories I have of Ed Reed.

Happy Retirement #20!

Ed is eligible in 2019 as he didn't play last season. Troy in 2020. Reed will get in before, no question!

Asking who's my favorite between Ed and Ray is like asking parents (I assume, anyway; I'm not a parent) who is their favorite child. I can't pick! I'll miss Ed. He was a different guy, man! I hope he comes back in some capacity. Coach, mentor, whatever. The guy's special, man.

One of the few playing geniuses that has graced the NFL since inception. The others were Barry Sanders and potentially Peyton Manning imo. He was as electric to watch on defense as Barry Sanders was on offense.

Reed HoFer in 2020

Now that would be beyond cool.

As cool as that would be, since he didn't play last year, he may in fact be eligible in 2019 I think...

I agree, my favorite Raven ever. Ray was a monster at MLB but Ed was the epitome of what a free safety should be. The modern Night Train Lane if you will

Congrats to my favorite football player of all time!!! I watched him and Sean Taylor light it up in Miami, then was absolutely ecstatic when we took him in the draft. It may be time to get my old #20 framed and put on the wall in the man cave!!! Best wishes, you have been and always will be missed in the purple and black!!!
