with the amount of corners we had last yr that got hurt im SURE we can find some excellent players in that group to back up Smith and Webb. Im not understanding why people see this as a problem

They still have $10 million dollars left in cap space to get a cornerback even though I want to see what Walker does, even though he may not be ready for the NFL this year. The guy is huge and fast... Came out of a small school. But if he got the playbook down I really think he could be a huge steal in the 4th round.

Trevorsteadman, it will actually be closer to 5 million after the rookie draft pic signings. Anyway, yes, I expect to see the team address corner after other teams start unloading expensive guys replaced by their younger (cheaper) draft pics. Happens every year and we all know Ozzie likes to wait out other teams. June 1st cuts, camp cuts, preseason cuts, trade possibilities, etc. I expect we will see 2 more corners (vets) added in the coming months. Much like last year. We were hit unusually hard at that position and most likely was more of a fluke than a trend.

Eisenberg- I guess you missed the news stories of the morning, that Dennard was released by the Patriots, which fits our MO in getting players cut by other teams.

Agreed, everyone is acting like Smith and Webb are both already hurt. Depending on how camp goes and what's out their... Oz may pick up a vet on a cheap deal for insurance but would not be surprised if they didn't feel as though they needed to

We are not so set at Safety either....

you could argue that kendrick lewis is average at FS but at SS we are set with Will HIll

Tarell Brown is a good depth pick-up.

He's just a solid guy who could bring more production than Tray Walker.

Brandon Carr, Leon Hall, Jerraud Powers etc. There were quite a few potential June 1 cut candidates even before we entered the draft. Not to mention, we lost to Brady by 4 points with a decimated secondary. If we won we'd have gone to the Superbowl given the goose egg the Colts laid. We'll be fine even if we don't add vets.

Melvin with a full set of OTA's and camp will be much better, and i think he is the #3 going into camp...

i do like the guys we signed to be groomed, they bring great size, i think Tray and the Kid from Okl. are 6-2....

Wouldn't be surprised to see Cason back either, would be a cheap but decent veteran option to compete in training camp.

Here is the problem Sami. Sometimes when guys get hurt they do not come back as good as before their injury. Webb has had numerous injuries and so has Jimmy. These are our two best players and they can't seem to stay healthy. Our secondary was decimated last year and I am gun-shy that it could happen again. I would have felt better if Marcus Peters was there in the first and we grabbed him, but I did not get my wish. I know most are happy we grabbed Perriman, but I really like the young guys we have on the team in Aiken, Brown, Butler, and Campanero. They all have great hands and looked like they were coming into their own last season. Therefore, I would have taken Byron Jones at #26. He has great potential and was projected to go in the first round. I just agree with Eisenberg, that we are taking a gamble and I am a little worried.

Patriots released CB Dennard,

The guy has been in some trouble and his work ethic is shaky. He could provide depth but not sure he could step up to be much more.

Tarell Brown could provide depth, if he came at a decent price, I would welcome him.

I highly doubt our entire CB will get hurt again like they did last year. I was just one of those years man. I think our DB's will be fine with Smitty and Webby leading the pack. Give Tray a chance jeez.

there will be DBs cut through out training camp that ozzie keeps his eyes on and tends to find a diamond in the rough. For instance Corey Graham, Will Hil last year. So when ozzie says its not finished im sure the ravens staff and ozzie will keep there eyes out. Who knows Greenwood, Melvin, walker area all over 6 ft. The only 2 corners on our roster that arent above 6 ft is webby and Asa. I personally see our DBs on the roster area all quality players that have size and speed.

I think we will add A under the radar type of guy like before someone like Corey graham who wasn't even a starter. I think Rashaan melvin will develop into a solid corner he did pretty good considering the fact that he was only on the roster for a month an had to face Brady in a big time play off game, I mean what else should you expect. Asa an webby will work perfectly inside an melvin an jimmy along with walker an greenwood will be fine on the outside but we do need to add a veteran db at some point just in case things go wrong again.

Just like our WR pre-draft , i say the same about our CB's, give the guys who came in and played well who are still on the roster a chance with a full set of OTA's, and a full camp before we panic...

I am enthusiastic and optimistic that there will be a brisk competition for the remaining slots and depth at Corner!  :190048:

Speaking of the secondary, I hope Elam has a redemption season this year to make up for the big mistakes from last season. We'll see come August & September...

Secondary crew takes time to come together. If the Ravens have to start swapping people in and out like last year and it will be a long season again. Honestly, Ravens have too many players coming off serious injuries for them to heal completely and get back to their "old" self. The Denver game could easily be a another blow out by Payton but most teams will try and run on the Ravens now that Ngata is not there.
