[News] Top Question For Each 2015 Draft Pick

48 posts in this topic

Davis can rush the passer, he just needs to be more consistent.  That is what dropped him in the draft.  He dominated at the Senior Bowl though and looked like the best lineman there (better than Danny Shelton among others).

Myers will be able to transition to the NFL if he is able to get stronger.  That is his weakness right now.  He is a sound technician, but NFL defensive lineman will be much stronger than him.  Great fit for a ZBS though.

Alright! No more mock drafts and endless speculation on what the Ravens might/could/should/ought to/probably will do. The first long leg of the offseason is over, now the second long leg...September 13th. 132 more days...

Friday, someone had mentioned that it was tweeted that Maxx Williams was very selfish at the Combine. That he was all about him. Wasn't a very team-oriented kind of guy... Not that it bothered me, but if I am in a situation where I have to show what I can do to 32 NFL Football teams in order to get paid, in order to get a job???? I'm gonna be selfish. I think he's a great pick up... and ABOLUTELY,I am glad we jumped ahead of the Squeelers to get him.

In fairness to Waller, no receiver had great production in the Georgia Tech option offense, which only produced 1882 yards for receivers. Waller had 442 of that, almost 24% of the yardage. Over his 3 years, he had an almost 20 yard average per catch.

I think you have that confused with Clive Walford, out of Miami.  All of the reports on him were that he was all about himself, not the team.

I find that odd because he light up some quarterbacks in his highlight tape...

he didn't get any sacks but you could see the qb rushing his throw knowing a 6'5 320 pound giant is about to crush you.

I was like a giddy little kid watching him crush quarterbacks. For a player to have that tenacity in college, where you can get thrown out of a game for a hard hit, was impressive. He is HUNGRY and wants to drive pain into the opposition.

Him next to Williams and Jernigan is SCARY!

I really like the Waller pick as a secondary deep threat Jacoby replacement, freak WR...immediately.

Then let Bobby Ingram, develop this kid in year 2,3 then we have our own twin towers version of Marshall and Jeffrey with Perriman and Waller

My only questionable pick was Boyle TE, because that almost guaranteed Ravens carry 4 TEs this year. Maxx Williams, likely starting TE, Pitta the question mark but could be starter if health holds up, and contract situation guarantees hes on roster, Gilmore the Smashmouth blocking TE everybody loves, who also showed he can catch when given opportunity. And lastly Boyle, another smashmouth type who could develop into a capable reveiver too. So it feels like Supernaw might be on the outs

yea i see that too...i vision this as a new Chad johnson T.J. Houshmanzadeh draft duo without the diva attitude... if we get these two as future starters we can have a dominant passing game ....Waller and Brown on the outside and perriman and campanrano on the  inside slot

You forgot to mention a guy that's on our roster as a TE/C/LS. That's Morgan Cox. He's only on a 1 year deal with us and long snappers aren't just long snappers, they also gun down the field after the fog clears to man their lanes in coverage against punt returns. Cox is coming off of an ACL tear so we'll need to have a TE/LS/gunner hybrid athlete in place in case the knee hasn't healed to the point that he can still be effective.

Boyle has that long snapping background. We essentially just filled 2 second string positions on FGs and punts, 1 possible starting position on the kickoff team, and added depth at the TE position for 1 5th round rookie contract.

Seen in that light it's an incredibly smart move.

Really don't have any questions until i see how they are on the field, or at least during OTA's...Smith for one might be worked out as a OLBer, since he is a tweener....I just think we got players that will work well in our system....Boyle i get, because they might feel his is a upgrade compared to the others, aside from Crockett, and Maxx, the others aren't sure locks...

Awsome draft... Got an A from the NFL Network. Only three other teams were given A+'s. The Bengals, Jags, and the Jets who all picked well ahead of us.

I don't want to rain on anybodys parade but Waller sounds like a lot like Tommy Streeter. I know I'm gonna get the negs on this but I remember us gushing over Streeters size and speed too.

Yea, Can you play in the NFL?

They all have the pedigree and resumes to play in the NFL. The real question to ask is "Can you play like a Raven?"

That's not rain, it's a fair concern. A few people were talking about this. The noticable difference between Streeter (who, mind you, clocked a 4.37 40 at the combine)  and Waller is that inspite of weighing in at 219, he was lanky. Waller is 238 and he looks like a thick and imposing box-you-out type of receiver - who also can run 4.4.

The reason we waited til round 6 on him is cuz it's inaccurate to judge his capabilities given the system he was stuck in. It's clearly a risk. The few plays he made make one wonder whether he just suffered from an option, run heavy offense.

No diving catches in training camp rookies. Don't want to see any weird or freak injuries, ala Dennis Pitta. Save the spectacular catches for the preseason games and season.

Not confused.... This was Friday, just after the pick:

For everyone who likes Maxx Williams.

"That Minnesota tight end came across as all about himself from what people in our room said (at the combine). They were a little turned off by him." -- NFC regional scout

To which I responded that....

Why wouldn't you be...  It's your time to sell yourself and get a job on an NFL team...

A few of these guys may go to the practice squad. A few will go someplace else. I think that Boyle and Williams will make the team, because our front office doesn't expect much nor anything from Pitta. Where does Supernaw fit in? We carry four TE's?

Either a couple of teams pulled the stunt the Cowboys tried to pull with Shane Ray and scare people off so they could take him themselves, or two, he was a jerk and given his choice of words in his sitdown with Garrett, his parents intervened and slapped Maxx upside the head.

Between this year and last, it seems like we had 5 first round picks if you think of who we selected. Mosley, Jernigan, Perriman, Maxx Williams and Carl Davis, all potential first round talents. Now that is why I say we are the best front office in the NFL.

LOL...  sounds logical...  and yeah, maybe there are a couple of players out there that were being selfish...  As for Maxx,  possibly the latter... and we all know how good the Browns are at drafting...  but yeah, if I'm out to get a spot on an NFL team???  It's gonna be about me and my abilities until I get into the playing situation where I can become a TEAM MATE....

I don't agree with the Jets or Bengals getting an A+ and I'm iffy on the Jags. I'd give the Jags an A for sure, but I'd definitely lower the Bengals and Jets grades to like a B+ at best.

I made this comparison in his congrats thread and received a hearty serving of negs lol
