Calling it now, these will be the best two that make the team

That would be my guess at this point as well.

I just don't see how we will be able to keep deandre carter - or else that means one of the other guys gets cut. So who's it gonna be- we already have SSS , Aiken , brown , perriman , camp , Waller , butler, worthy , carter - obviously there's no way we can carry that many . Would be nice if we could keep him on as a kick returner - I just don't think it's very likely.

SSS ,Perriman ,Camp, Carter, Brown, Waller/Akien/Butler fight it out

i just feel carter is one of those guys who just ends up being a player in this league..His speed and fluidity in his routes ..his toughness ..he reminds me a lot of..SSS

I think both Aiken and Brown will be fighting hard for their spots on the team and either, or both, could be on other teams by the regular season. I also think injuries will, unfortunately, help make he decision when the time comes as well.

I feel pretty strongly that Carter makes the team. I just see him and I see a player who can be an instant impact player on ST and that's something we need. I see him as a very good return specialist. I also see us keeping 7 WR, although I can see someone getting bumped. I think Waller makes the team though.

In short, I see Carter and Perry making the team. Still a lot can happen though, clearly, so things could change come OTAs and the pads come.

I don't see brown or Aiken getting cut. I also am pretty high on Waller and don't think our 6th round pick will get cut. That said I do not know a whole lot about carter - so I'm not gonna act like I do. The same with butler. Just from what I've seen from the other guys I just have a hard time seein anybody beating them out- however I am gonna do some homework on carter so I can be a little more objective - bc I have been hearing a lot of positive things.

Based on what John Harbaugh said to Waller in the video and the way he spoke of him in the presser, I think Waller has impressed. If he is coachable and shows he can be productive, then sky is the limit for him. He may very well be the dark horse 3rd WR!

And wouldn't that be something?! I've said this before. Imagine our goalline package consisting of: Waller, Perriman, Williams, and Brown. Pick your poison.

I think Aiken ends up as the fourth options behind Perriman, Smith Sr. and Camp.

have you seen any of DePriest' tape? if he's our best option to take over for Daryl then we are in trouble

Haha ok? Yes I've seen his tape, why else would I say I like him? He has good instincts and is solid against the run. Too slow for man coverage against athletic tight ends, but he plays well in the zone. He isn't flashy, but he does a lot of things well. He's a solid tackler he reminds me someway of Vontaze Burfict without the piss poor character. I like debate and open to hearing opposing views so what did you see on the tape?

average to below average instincts, no coverage skills whatsoever and he isn't a sure tackler either, especially on the outside, and worst of all he has no motor, once he thinks theres no way for him to get to the ball carrier he gives up and becomes a spectator.

This is probably overstating DePriest's ability. He's a downhill gap stuffer, but that's likely all. There's not a lot of precedence for players like this succeeding in the NFL. It should also be considered that he struggled to learn the playbook through the first two years of his career at Alabama, which severely limited him. He obviously cannot afford that here.

This is far too harsh, though. Will he be able to play in the NFL in coverage or on the outside with what we saw in College? No. I wouldn't knock his instincts though, and I don't personally think I saw enough of a reason to knock his motor. He doesn't have great speed, but I don't think the lack of a high gear means he was giving up.

All in all he is deserving of a go at it. The odds are against him and he'll have to improve his game significantly to stick at the NFL level. I'm happy it's with the Ravens though!

I never said he wasn't deserving of a chance, all players deserve a shot. He asked me what my "opposing" views were so thats all i gave.

I will agree with his coverage abilities, he's just too slow for man coverage. However I think he plays just fine on the outside so long as he keeps the ball carrier in front of him. He's not chasing anyone down or tackling anyone from behind. I see him as a developmental guy like ellerbe or McClain who will take a couple of years.

The Ravens released quarterback Keith Wenning, tight end Phillip Supernaw and rookie free agent outside linebacker Darius Allen Tuesday afternoon.

They did so to make room for three undrafted rookie free agents: Alabama guard Leon Brownicon-article-link.gif, James Madison wide receiver Daniel Brownicon-article-link.gif and Rhode Island inside linebacker Andrew Boseicon-article-link.gif.

I was hoping one of those signings would be Andre Monroe. Ah well.

I'm kind of shocked with Keith Wenning's release, though. Either the Ravens know something we don't (with his lack of development); or, Wenning just doesn't have the physical build to last in the NFL. Wasn't that the problem with Aaron Mellette (i.e. He couldn't recover from that knee injury.)?

coaches seldom say anything negative about players. Thats why when harbs talks up any rookie i'd not read too much into it

Could still be Andre Monroe. The Ravens haven't officially added Julian Wilson to  i.r and they probably haven't finished making cuts either.

Supernaw is probably headed to the Broncos now. Freaking Kubiak.

The one thing I am anxious about when we cut these players is the fact that we are letting all our secrets out bit by bit. Belichick is a serial poacher of such players historically! That is another of his cheap skate tricks I suppose.

Yeah. I agree to an extent. Not sure Bill is the worst at this though.

I'll rescind my original prediction. I'm sure tomorrow we'll hear that Allen, Supernaw and Wenning were all claimed off waivers by the Browns. They always take our guys and they're higher in priority on the waiver wire than Denver.

RAVENS will be signing free agent Jarret Johnson.

To a one day contract.

At first I was too.   I was like  " what the heck !!!!!!!!!????????? "

but then I remembered we signed Schaub, and I felt much better.

The smartest of the 3 may go to the Browns. The one who would know most signals and calls of the offense perhaps? My guess would be Wenning.
