2015 Ravens UDFA Signings

244 posts in this topic

Okay this video makes the guy look pretty outstanding.  Videos dont tell the whole story I know.  Why did this guy  not get drafted ?  Is he as goodn as the video makes him seem ?

no one is as good as their highlights, which is why you try and watch the film to get a true representation.  It does show what he can do, but it doesn't show his bad plays either.

And I'm not seeing anywhere that a team has gotten him to sign as a UDFA

I've been on his Twitter page ever since before the Draft ended (surprise, I know) and he hasn't signed with anyone. Only remarked that God has a plan and stay tuned.

NFL.com really bashed Julian Wilson giving him a 4.65 grade and a quote like this one "He's got the size and speed to make you give the tape a second look, but once the tape starts running, you see all you need to. Can't play.".

Plays with very very sloppy technique opposite of one of the best CBs in the country. He may never be anything good. He has a few good highlights but the guy does not play that great. Who knows, though. He could be a beast. I never count anyone out. Just answering the question. He needs a lot of work.

Technique can be taught.  This video shows me its in him somewhere.  Maybe our staff and team can get him to his potential.

I think I have my underdog to root for this off season.

We'll see. They've been wrong before. If so, oh well. He just hasn't announced it and I haven't seen it anywhere reputable yet.

Zach Hodges, Kurtis Drummond, Zach Vigil and my guy Henry Coley are all still out there

I'm mad that Zach Vigil and Mike Hull signed with the Dolphins. 2 ILB I really liked.

How many does that make?

6, maybe?

I wonder how many are on a tryout basis though.

Lol, I'll be bummed but not many UDFAs make a big impact and I realize that. He could amount to nothing. I'm not getting my hopes up. This isn't the thread for it, though, since it's about confirmed Ravens' signings.

UDFAs rarely make an impact but Chris Matthews and Malcolm Butler would like a word with you.

So what I'm saying is we could have a UDFA make the team and make big plays to help us win the Super Bowl. Ozzie is nailing it in UDFA as well, can see us finding a Malcolm Brown or Chris Matthews that end up being crucial signings.

He might be weighing his offers. Maybe he sees our loaded safety group with Lewis (FA signing), Hill, Brooks (recent 3rd round pick), Levine (Harbaugh favorite) and Trawick (quality ST player) and feels like he doesn't have as good a chance here? I don't know. Just guessing. I don't disagree. Maybe he's not that good, too. Hey, it's possible and I like the guy a lot.

Well, it's true that not many make an impact. Then again, the same goes for the Draft itself, but there are more making an impact from the draft than from UDFAs. I am not saying UDFAs are worthless or anything. Not sure if you're insinuating that or simply using my post as a stepping stone to put across an overall point.

We might be looking at him to play safety.

This is going to come up, but Drummond just announced he's signing with the Texans, so that's that. I know this isn't the topic for it, but if it's not posted here someone will post it.

I'm not, I feel the same way and usually just think of them being camp bodies. Just that it was interesting that the two people who played the biggest part in the Super Bowl were undrafted players.

Hoping that while our draft picks contribute more to it but if we can find a gem that did what Matthews and Butler did that would be cherry on top of this draft class.

I still wonder why hasn't he been drafted.

If Trawick doesnt show he can be of value in secondary he is cut.

To me Drummond was just a good HL tape. Definitely some impressive ball skills but I don't think much else about his game is all that impressive. I think a lot of teams just think he's an awkward fit in their defense and doesn't have the physicality to come up in run support or make tough tackles on big bodied WR's and TE's in space. He had a problem with missed tackles in college and NFL teams know it will only get harder for him at the next level.

A player with those kind of insane ball skills in the secondary still deserves a chance to prove himself though, It would've been cool to give him a shot here in Baltimore.. but I'm not overly bummed out that we missed out on him.
