He's a project player.  Those haven't worked out so well for this team in the past.

Let's see if there's room... Steve Smith Sr, Breshad Perriman, Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, Michael Campanaro makes 5... if we carry 6 it'll be between Waller, Jeremy Butler, and a few other camp bodies.

I like taking the chance on him.  It hasn't worked out in the past, but hey, what's another shot at it?

I like the selection, but I would have preferred Tre McBride.

Agreed - hopefully he goes undrafted and we pick him up.

It only has to work out once to be worth it. He could be a td maker in the end zone in his rookie year.

I thought the redzone was Marlon's calling card.

If this guy produces to the same rate as Brown, Aiken, Camp and even what a guy like Butler did in camp last season he's worth the pick. When you have 10 picks which ended up being 9, so times you take a flier on a guy who you don't mind developing for a few years.

This was probably a Tresman pick but also I'm a huge fan of what Engram has done with the young guys so far. Now of course smitty has had something to do witg it as welk but i feel much better about the prospects of developing a young WR now then in years past.

He could very well develop into a Jacoby Jones shot play specialist which would be more then great. He's a jumpball guy who boxes out well. Flacco loves to just give his guys a shot at making a play on the ball deep, this guy could actually make a living doing just that. Or he could be just another guy who lives out his dream long enough to make a preseason appearance and its over.

Why not both?

Good point. Good point. Can you imagine in a year or two Perriman and Waller/Marlon/Aiken with possibly Butler or Camp in the slot

I have a feeling hes gonna be big time for the Ravens. Everyone doesn't have any expectations for him, but hes measurables are off the charts. 6'6 240 4.46 40 with a 37 Vert. And when I actually watch him play, he actually plays his size while making circus catches.

for my money i liked dez lewis much better in the 6th as i think he has #1 written all over him, he is a small school guy but less of a project as he is pretty well rounded, only 2 inches shorter and good size overall, good length, bigger hands, quicker, can run the route tree for the most part, and has a great ability to pluck the ball outta the air against tight coverage. i think everything about dez is better than waller aside from the 2 inches, i even think his ceiling is higher.

that said, im happy to give waller a shot, a 6th round flier on a guy this big who can get down field rather quick and actually use his size and length by attacking the ball and catching with his hands, he could end up being the real deal with the way our offense is looking right about now

Perriman                Williams(OLINE)                              Waller

                                                Joe                 Camp

                                               Buck

i fully expect buck and perriman to be everything we are hoping. IF waller can eventually be a guy who can at least always keep the defense on their toes and make the occasional deep jumpball, and if camp stays healthy, this would be a stupid nice base formation to field, and theres always the option to move around guys like camp and williams and then juice would obviously be an x factor on the right downs. this is a seriously intriguing option, there is too much of everything

Will be funny to see our tall WRs vs. the much smaller Steelers CBs :D

Ravens 6'6 WR vs Steelers 5'8 CB, wonder who wins...

Not only Waller but put M. Brown, Perriman :D and Williams in ... or a 2 TE set with Boyle or Gilmore...

I stated it a bunch of times in the draft thread, I love taking high upside players on day 3. . A lot of day 3 guys are a dime a dozen, but finding a 6'6 target with 4.4 speed and soft hands is rare. You are drafting the measurables at that point because the proven NFL ready contributors are long gone anyway. I think he's a noticeably better prospect than Streeter, really interested to see what he can do when he's not shackled by the triple threat offense.

You have to take risks on day 3, there is a degree of luck involved drafting high upside projects so the more often you can do it, the better your chances are of hitting one out of the park. Walker, Myers, and Waller all fit the bill of what I was looking for in a late day 3 selection. If just one of those project players reaches their potential we will have a steal. I like how we built ourselves a nice portfolio of different project players late and got the reliable depth in Za'Darius Smith and Buck Allen to start the day.

At least we know he can block coming out of GT. I kind of compare him to Kassim Osgood who has been a solid STer for years in the league. I like his upside with that size/speed combo.

steelers fans will argue to the death that senquez golson would intercept any pass thrown to waller with his incredible ball skills, and then theyll argue that golson was their original target in the 2nd and we didnt steal williams from them :)

I don't think the Steelers are dumb enough to match them up. They will put Golson on SSS though more likely than not

I like the pick of Walker and I think he could be more, but as of now he's JAG. I'm hoping he becomes more. I honestly wouldn't be surprised either way. He could be that guy who pushes someone like Marlon Brown or Kamar Aiken eventually off the team. I think he makes it harder for Butler to make the team. This WR corps has a chance to be better than good. I'm really excited.

Eh I've seen us bring in plenty of high potential guys late before. My guess is that he is going to have to stick around on special teams in order to develop although he could be a guy we stick on the practice squad. Should be a good test to see where Engram is as a WR coach between him and Perriman. I liked a lot of what he did last year but this is going to be more of a test. If we can be like the Steelers with their guys, that would be awesome.
