Welcome to Baltimore: Nick Boyle and Robert Myers

AHHHHHH. Dammit. Well I'm in a slump now.

Ozzie grabbed Arrington, Mood improved lol.

I think with Boyle is he'll be groomed along slowly as TE in the NFL is a difficult position, especially the stress put on by Trestman. But I think for the first time we actually have 3 TEs that could turn into something, more than spot contributors.

Boyle really needs to put on a good camp to even sniff the field with Williams and Gilmore. If Pitta returns, he's going to have to put in a great camp to even make the active roster.

lol, we cut supernaw. boyle was drafted with intentions to use him a bunch in two TE sets. you have no idea what you are talking about. he'll make the team

Still applies. I said active roster, not the team. He'll more than likely be in street clothes to start the season if Pitta returns. Won't see the field a ton even without Pitta.

From all accounts, Pitta is expected to start the year on the PUP list.  He'll likely test out his hip in practice for 3 weeks in the middle of the year, and if they feel confident that he's fully recovered then he'll come in the second half of the year.

The idea of possibly having Pitta, Williams, Gillmore and maybe even Boyle is exciting to think about though.

Honestly, the Boyle pick confuses me. It looks like he figures to be a nice blocker and red zone/third down guy, but I'm not sure how many TEs we're hoping to put in the 53-man squad and how comfortable the coaching staff would be having two rookies and a second-year guy as their full depth chart. If we felt like Pitta was done, I'd have thought we'd go after a guy like Gresham as well. But I guess there's a reason why Ozzie gets paid the big bucks to rebuild the roster and I'm posting on a forum.

Guess he was the best player on the board. He has definite upside and is a mammoth of a man especially for the position.

You're right though that if/when Pitta is healthy and active there just won't be enough room for him. If Pittas IRed to start the season Boyle will make the team as the 3rd TE if they feel Maxx and he are ready. If not they pick up a scrap heap vet from cuts.

If Pitta is healthy to start the season I imagine Boyle with either mysteriously get an ankle or knee injury in the 4th preseason game and go on IR for the season to stash him or he hits the PS.

He'll basically take the role of what Supernaw did last year. (Side note - sad to see Supernaw go. LOVE that name!).

Why can't we keep 4 TE when/if Pitta returns? Not to wish for it, but I'm sure we'll have an injury and I'm sure Pitta could just take that player's place. There's no reason to cut Boyle if you like him and carry 4 TE. What if Pitta comes back and gets hurt again?

I lol'ed thinking what that haircut looks like right after he took his helmet off but gotta admit I love a guy that enjoys being himself (even if it's not the norm)

I really don´t think Pitta will be a factor for this team in the future. Sad but (maybe) true...

Pitta/Maxx/Gillmore is fine going into the season. Kyle gives great added blocking. To bring in a TE that'll get 10-15 catches is scary to give a roster spot up for that we definitely need. Id rather give one of our many WR's that spot or bring in a CB for some security. If anything happens with Pitta by all means suit him up,
