Welcome to Baltimore: Nick Boyle and Robert Myers

Welcome to Baltimore 5th round picks!

More reinforcements on the offensive side of the ball.  Both small school prospects (Delaware and Tennessee State).  Bonus points for a great hurdler and great hair!

I like the Myers pick for depth and some competition if KO leaves

We need at least 4-5 TEs when camp starts. The cream will rise to the top. Minimum of 3 will make the 53.

Can't get good picks everywhere. Not really a fan of either of these picks.

Myers was linked very heavily to us. I thought it was almost guaranteed we took him here, because Juan Castillo loves him.

I liked Boyle coming out, but either he's not going to make the team or Pitta isn't, and either way that makes me sad.

I hope so. He looks raw to me.

Yup. That's why he's a 6th. But the nice thing about those raw guys is that they aren't maxed out in potential and still have a ton of room to grow.

I would think that Boyle's chances of making the team depend on injuries... If Dennis Pitta, Maxx Williams, and Crockett Gillmore are all healthy, I doubt we carry Nick Boyle as a 4th TE. Obviously, injuries happen and Pitta is a question mark, though.

I think if Pitta wants to walk in his elder age, he shouldn't return. I love him, but he literally just made a cut and reinjured his hip.

the Boyle pick for what its worth is an insurance option either way for Pitta. if Pitta is healthy then Boyle would probably get optioned to the practice squad to worth on things and have in our back pocket if something happens to Pitta or if Pitta isn't able to play this year he slides in as our 3rd TE

Boyle was great for my Hens. He'll become a fan favorite with his effort and attitude. He is also a long-snapper, so we won't have to go find one off the street if Cox gets hurt again.

I don't know much about Myers, but his nickname is "Snacks", and I cannot express how amazing I feel about that.

Have seen in multiple places that Myers could end up being a steal for us... Oh how sweet it is to have OL depth.

Can't argue with the Myers pick. When was the last time we had a draft without taking an OL guy? Sometimes they pan out (Wagner) and sometimes they don't (Jah Reid) so it shouldn't hurt to at least have him as depth. And if Castillo really likes him then that's huge too.

Honestly, the Boyle pick confuses me. It looks like he figures to be a nice blocker and red zone/third down guy, but I'm not sure how many TEs we're hoping to put in the 53-man squad and how comfortable the coaching staff would be having two rookies and a second-year guy as their full depth chart. If we felt like Pitta was done, I'd have thought we'd go after a guy like Gresham as well. But I guess there's a reason why Ozzie gets paid the big bucks to rebuild the roster and I'm posting on a forum.

we loaded up with red zone targets in this draft, boyle being the biggest one. we severely lacked red zone targets last year. his height and arm span is a perfect match for flacco. the more i watch on boyle, the more im stoked on this pick up. extremely underrated for what he is meant for. short underneath routes, blocking, and red zone. we will bust out some double TE sets for sure.

I don't know if Boyle will beat Gilmore. I think if Pitta comes back, it's going to be tough for Boyle to make it.

pitta aint coming back

Sad to be sure, but probably true.

If anything, I suspect he'll be on the IR next year.

I would like to propose a nick name for Robert Myers. His hair cut, his tree trunk like lower body makes him resemble a huge tree trunk with a small canopy of leaves! So to me he is Robert 'Tree Trunk' Myers!

I love these reaction videos.

Too cool! Just makes one happy to see a young life changed forever!

That would be fitting, but he's already got a nickname..."Snacks" lol

I think Gilmore will mature into a great player as well as a perfect compliment to Maxx Williams. Ozzie had to have seen something in Boyle to draft him.

It seems like Boyle is really similar to Gilmore: good blocker, needs to develop as a pass-catcher.

I always thought 1 blocking TE was enough. Now we have 2 good blockers and 1 decent blocker in Gilmore, Boyle, and Williams. Maybe they're planning on doing some different things in the redzone, like playing a lot of TEs every snap, since you not only have to defend the run but also prepare for the pass /w some big TEs. Could be interesting, especially if Gilmore and Boyle develop as pass-catchers.
