Welcome to Baltimore, Carl Davis

to be honest..the only guy i am totally 100% sold on is Maxx

Perriman feels like another case of athlete over actual football skills. He doesn't even really play to his speed because he isn't fluid in his movements and his football IQ isn't great.

Carl Davis i admit i haven't watched much of..but from what i've read he's been crazy inconsistent..

its not been a perfect draft..but maxx williams is a future pro bowler..that i can guarantee you all

youre certainly a glass half empty person.

what youre getting with perriman, is a replacement AND improvement from what we lost with torrey. all the problems perriman has as a rookie, are problems torrey had as a 4 year vet, the difference is he is still head and shoulders better than torrey in every other aspect and his flaws are nowhere near as glaring as torreys was coming out of college, plus he can adjust to the deep ball which is something torrey certainly struggled with(and really screwed us when he gave up on the ball @NE). im not one for bashing torrey but facts are facts, he had alot of issues and still produced big time for us, if we get another 4 years of torrey style production from perriman then im ok with it.

davis, i have my concerns for sure, i read he has a lazy and entitled attitude, but you also have to think, he was projected first o earl 2nd, he has been vocal about the chip on his shoulder from falling so far, you could hear the irritation in his voice when he talked to ryan mink on the phone, i think hes out to prove people wrong, and its a rare thing to see ravens DL players not showing enthusiasm, these guys love their DL coach clarence brooks and want to play well for him, and he knows how to coach em up

I know we always find a silver lining to picks most of us don't like (perriman) but you do realize that just comparing him to torrey and saying he will do what torrey does basically means we could just find a guy much later on in the draft who runs fast and is physical ...

torrey was raw but he did improve somewhat..lots of guys like perriman don't have productive careers. i said before the draft its all well and good that someone runs fast and is big..but there are two keys which separate the booms and the busts of which there must be one..

GREAT hands OR Great Routes/fluidity

perriman has neither..

thats not a good omen..

I just saw a video on BleacherReport that gave Carl Davis a C- because the person didn't think the Ravens could coach out Davis's inconsistencies....

Uh.... what....

Have you seen some of the catches Perriman has made? Dude can catch, just needs to keep his concentration on the easy ones.

Is this a poor man's Haloti Ngata? Both have rare athleticism for huge men. Both described as 'planet players' by Eric Decosta. Both had effort criticisms coming out of college for taking plays off and wearing down late in games.

Consider him a poor man's Leonard Williams

They admitted that Davis was expected to go much higher and then gave us a C-. Typical Bleacher Report.

I'm more worried about his fluidity running routes and using his speed to full effect. he doesn't play as fast as his time.

He might not play 4.24 on the field, but he is flying out there. He looks like the fastest guy on the field in all the tape I've watched. Saying his 40 time doesn't match his game time is standard. Most WRs spend a couple months trying to get their 40's faster.

Yeah, I'm more worried about him sinking his hips and selling his eyes.  He's got good wiggle though.

That's what confused me the most

It's always like, "This guy was a first round talent in the seventh round. Incredible value... I'll be generous here and give it a D+."

I stay away from most of the information on Bleacher Report.  I did like the article regarding DGB that was posted on this board though.

This might be the best draft a teams ever had. They got Calvin Johnson, Adrien Peterson, deon sanders..... I'll be a nice guy and give them an F. Edited by ludy51

Funny you say that, it seems we have that same issue here.

He doesn't in a definitional sense no, word is he'll tone down his effort once his original surge is checked.  However I've read reports saying he can drop anchor with the best of them so that has me encouraged. Maybe playing with some young guys like Williams and Jernigan will inspire him, who knows.  Williams almost has a comically high motor.

That was actually the same flaw for Ngata, which is why he fell to the Ravens instead of being a top five pick. The Ravens' DL coach seems to know how to light a fire under people.

I watched every single snap being an Iowa fan. He'll be a good player for us. He'll provide a pass rush and get better against the run. I thought that the first round and early second was too high for him. But we got him at a good value with our pick.

Other than Cody, have we in recent years made a bad pick at DL? Seems even late rounders, those who stay healthy, have been productive for us. I trust our FO when it comes to DL, they rarely miss.

Let's see:

2014:

Timmy Jernigan: Became a starter his rookie year and was the best rookie 3-4 DE.

Brent Urban: Got injured and sat out his rookie year

2013:

Brandon Williams: Current starter at NT

Kapron Lewis-Moore: has been injured the last two years

2012:

Deangelo Tyson: Has been a very, very good rotational guy who has made some big plays over the last couple years

2010:

Terrence Cody: Bust

Arthur Jones: Became a great player on our SB defense. Left to go to Indy.

So 4 great player, one busts, and two injury-riddled players.
