You say, never having played an NFL game

That's what coaches and players say. Most of them take it as a Scrimmage. That's ALL it is if you think about it. Jim Harbaugh was the best example of a coach that didn't take preseason that seriously.

You get jitters in the real games. Preseason is a glorified scrimmage. No excuse for sucking in the preseason.

Except some of the rookies have never played under the lights.

In all fairness to Jesse James, it's just the first preseason game and he could've had the jitters that will go away with time.  Also, Gilmore looked like he was running in mud in his college film.  He wasn't a stand out receiver in college. He has turned out to be decent so far, so I won't discount James, yet.  This is from someone who was not a big fan of any of this year's TEs.

these arent things i got from his preseason game, i got this from watching his college games, even his highlights were yawn inducing, he just looked uncoordinated and looked like he just offered nothing more than long reach.

i didnt like gilmores athleticism or catching ability when i looked at the tape, but i did like his toughness, thats as hardnosed a player as ive ever seen and i had a feeling he would carve himself a niche, just didnt think he'd be the top TE by year 2 lol

Yea Gilmore took huge strides compared to his college tape. Honestly, I thought he was going to be nothing but a blocker/depth for us. He has soft hands and is starting to find the soft spot in defenses well. I know he only made two catches last night but they were close together and good for keeping drives alive. Hopefully he keeps it up throughout the season.

When you're trying to carve out a role and roster spot then yes, its a very nerve wrecking game, I'm sure.

yeah if there is any player who appears to be living up to the training camp hype, its him.

Seriously? NO. You are wrong. These games are so critical to players trying to win a roster spot and the coaches picking the right depth guys. These decisions are worth millions and could be the difference in winning a championship. The most important aspect of the Ravens continually being contenders is their ability to always have amaxing depth.

that was also a good while before the draft, more than a month before, thoughts on draft prospects change a lot over time.

at the time of the draft i was much higher on maxx, i wasnt exactly asking for him with our top pick, but at that time i wouldnt have been upset with it because i thought a late first or early 2nd would have been our only chance to get him, i was shocked he was still there at 55. personally, the guy i wanted at 26 was either malcom brown, devin smith, or preston smith, but if we had taken maxx there i would have been happy with it even though it may have been a bit of a reach.

also when i posted those, the FA class was loaded, and i was hoping to get one of those guys instead, freeing up draft choices. all worked out in the end though because ozzie is ozzie, he was patient and got a late first round talent at 55

I was happy with how the draft went...  Most people were calling for a first round WR.  And we got one.  We haven't SEEN him yet as a Raven, but here in Orlando at UCF he was really good...

As for our second round Maxx Williams...  I think he's right where we all thought he'd be.  And that we got him ahead of the Steelers makes it all that much better....

I'm going with Maxxxxxxx!

After watching the above gif after Max's awesome play, I just realized how badly he jacked that dude to the grown. I hope he plays like that every snap.

Did anyone see the play where he caught it on the far side and the guy wrapped him up by the leg? For some reason I remember thinking how slow he looked.

Haha, it does look like he gave that dude a mean clothesline.

Wow, I'm looking at that Jesse James gif and I hope which ever QB that is ends up playing a long time for Pittsburgh.  Not because of the James drop but because the player that lined up right next to him was so wide open it was disgusting and the QB missed him.  He wasn't even covered presnap with the defense showing a heavy blitz.  How do you not even glance that way?

Great memes. I would be interested to hear what Treastmans impressions were on last Thursday's game. Particularly at this position.

TE has developed so far, probably my favorite along with Dline
