Welcome to Baltimore Maxx Williams TE

I think the thing I like most about Williams is how explosive he is after he has the ball. He looks faster after the catch than when he is in his routes.

Jason Witten is hardly a speed demon..same with heath miller. Owen Daniels was never quick

Let me tell you something..the kid is 20-21 years old and for his age he's mighty impressive. He's smart..his hands are perfect and his routes and playmaking skills second to none in his position. He'll get physically stronger ( for his age he's pretty strong) but what makes him a winner is his ability to make the play..

hes 5 times the tight end eric ebron is..why? because he's a smart football player.

Speaking of his hands, they are absolutely massive. One of the reason OBJ is so good is because of his really big hands. They are 10'. Maxx's are 10 3/8".

I was going to bring this up but you did it for me. I think Williams brings something Dennis never really did...YAC. I love Pitta but he falls a lot after making the catch.

I'm excited for his future. He's a young TE and contrasts Pitta when he entered the league a little older than average.

He definitely could stand to get a little quicker- he seems a bit slow off the ball just from the few minutes of tape I've seen so far from camp. Ofcourse like I said earlier they aren't really playing at full speed without pads on and speed isn't one of his known attributes anyway. That said I am still highly optimistic on this guy and he will only get better. Boyle looks pretty beast too

Maxx coming out is definitely better than Pitta was coming out. At least far more complete as a TE.

pitta was 25 in his first season.

I don't know who's the youngest player to be drafted this year but i think maxx williams might be up there as one of the youngest. He will get stronger and faster. He's just 20-21.

I remember seeing a chart of solely offensive players in the draft and their age at being drafted. Williams was the second youngest in age of TE's, Jesse James was younger, and fourth youngest overall. Gurley was the youngest one out of them all.

Never considered myself as small (I'm 6'3") but gotta say... those are some huge hands lol

Love the selection of Maxx Williams. Will have my own #87 shirt made with the name of Dos Equis (sp.) above the number on the back. This young man holds much promise. I hope he does well and goes far!

If Max Williams can be the thorn in the side of the Steelers as much as Health Miller was for us, it would be worth the extra draft pick to move up....

Who remembers when Steelers fans claimed that Jesse James would be better than Maxx Williams (clearly upset about us jumping them for Maxx who I'm 99% sure they intended to draft in the 2nd). Just had a chance to watch the Steelers in the HOF game, Jesse James is TERRIBLE. It's not like he just had a bad game either, you don't even see the raw skills of a TE who might amount to anything.

- Slow as molasses running routes

- Get's called for a hold

- Loses a fumble on a good drive from their offense

- Get's embarrassed on the punt team by Stefon Diggs

- Drops a lobbed 1 yd TD catch that is literally the easiest catch that any player will ever get in an NFL game and turns the ball over on downs

This is why I can't take anything the Steelers homers say seriously, they honestly hyped him up when they drafted and said he was better than Maxx with complete and utter confidence LOL

Jesse James is a very different tightend from Maxx Williams. A better comparison would be to Gilmore. However, it sounds like Gilmore easily outclasses him too.

Yeah he looked terrible but it was only the 1st preseason game and he's not expected to be anything more than the #3 TE for them this year. He might still turn into a decent player.

wow so that was him on that little 1 yard dink pass on 4th down that would have been an easy td. i saw that when it happened and didnt realize it was jesse james but i was thinking to myself, "hes cut".   not that he really will get cut but he did have a terriblly awful game. now lets see what maxx does tonight and then those steeler fans can get back to us. theyre really gonna be ticked off.

i hated jesse james in the draft process and was sick of THESE boards hyping him up, yeah hes 6 foot 7 and comes from a pro style offense, so what? he still looks like a garbage football player just from a quick film study. he plays far too slow to be effective in the NFL, his hands are nothing spectacular, and if he cant outjump a guy with ease then he wont be catching the ball.

maxx is the polar opposite of james. his size isnt gonna draw your attention, doesnt have a massive wingspan, but the boy is a natural football player, he has the talent to turn mediocre TE measurables into elite production with incredible hands and ball skills, and toughness, and general athleticism.

jesse james is the ANTI-TE, he is essentially ed dickson

I can't wait for tonights game to see how Nick Boyle does. The Steelers passed over him in the 5th round in favor of Jesse James. It's way to early to tell but my gut tells me Boyle will be the better player.

even though i didnt want jesse james, i probably would have taken james in the 5th over boyle, thinking boyle is a pure blocker, but apparently he has a bit more to his game

I liked James. I still think he could be a good TE but he needs work. I felt like he could've developed into a good player here. The game I first noticed him was against the Terps, but that seemed to be his best game lol. Once I watched more, my opinion dropped on him.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Williams as I preferred Walford, but I definitely think Ozzie proves he knows far more than I do.

Thank God we have Ozzie.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how well he plays. I'm not sure he'll be tested much against NO with their secondary and LB corps, but it could be improved. I'm going to watch how our pass rush and secondary plays more than anything.

I really liked Walford and still do. Just because he caught with his body doesn't mean the problem will persist.

I'm glad Ozzie took Williams, though. I might be a tad biased considering how much of a fan I am of The U.

In all fairness to Jesse James, it's just the first preseason game and he could've had the jitters that will go away with time.  Also, Gilmore looked like he was running in mud in his college film.  He wasn't a stand out receiver in college. He has turned out to be decent so far, so I won't discount James, yet.  This is from someone who was not a big fan of any of this year's TEs.

You get jitters in the real games. Preseason is a glorified scrimmage. No excuse for sucking in the preseason.

That's just wrong. Especially, in terms of, rookies.
