This gets me excited that we've finally drafted a 1st round WR and we have a guy like that to mentor him. Cant wait to see him suit up for us.

That's flippin' awesome, god I love Smith Sr. Let's groom this 21 year old pup into a straight up beast!!

He definitely has a chance to break Ravens rookie WR records. How do you think his stats will pan out at the end of the year?

As long as he works harder than this:

I'm fine with a high upside pick with a floor of being a decent deep threat (coincidentally, a huge need in our offense).

This is the finest WR prospect we've had in the last ten years and he's only 21 years old.

With Steve Smith Sr. mentoring and our surprisingly decent development of wide receivers as of late, this is the only time that every fundamental factor points to us taking a shot at a project WR with HUGE potential.

We NEEDED a new WR to have any shot this year, and Perriman will certainly produce TD's in Trestman's offense with Joe Flacco throwing him the ball.

Think Kelvin Benjamin. Perriman may not be a top 10 receiver but he will give us the production we desperately need this year.

Makes me cry everytime...Love Torrey but Perriman will better.

Depends on how early he's playing in the offense.

That play was unforgivable.

That play makes me wonder whether he was concerned about injury before a new contract signing. The play wasn't a typical Torrey Smith reaction to coverage as seen over the years, else he wouldn't have been a starter. Regardless, it was his last major play as a Raven.

You have really no idea what you are talking about.  Jacoby for one is not a physical player.   Perriman is somewhat like Torrey in that they both can play with injuries, able to play well in vertical routes and both do not need to change physical weight/build.

It is true that Perriman has some serious dropsies but i think the big problem with him is his lack of motivation to handle difficult playbook.  He is more of a 'lets wing it and see what happens' kind of player.   He is not a disciplined, he knew he had a bad QB and only played yards that he knew would produce.

Ego/Major motivation factor is probably the biggest caution for him.   But if he starts struggling early(and i hope our coaches pushes him hard), he is going to realize very fast how fast that bust factor will be stamped on his face if he does not PAY ATTENTION during practice.

I'm saying it more as how he is built. The dude is tall and quick.

It's crazy reading multiple fantasy predictions saying they raised his expectations for Perriman because he went to Baltimore. I didn't think I would ever hear something like that.

What's the deal with ALL OF THESE HORRIFIC DROPS? On all the tape I've seen (Draft breakdown + highlights) he plucks the ball beatifully out of the air, and never let's it into his body. Most of the drops seems to be due to poorly placed throws and perhaps mis-timing between him an the QB.

Where is the tape showing him being wide open, ball on the mark and him making a head scratching drop? I'd be really interested to see that.

I think he needs some work on selling his routes along with more suddeness out of his breaks. If he takes care of that (with the help of Engram, SSS, Trestman... and oh yeah his father who played in the league for a decade) I think Flacco will supply the ball on the numbers so he doesn't have to contort in order to get near it.

I was iffy and uncertain at first, but I'm actually becoming quite stoked. I hope he develops nicely. Speaking of developing, do you think he'll add weight due to nfl weight training and all that. I like 6'2 220lbs better on paper, just looks more neat than 212  :)

I agree. he did have to deal with a lot of straight up awful QB play last year. He does high point the ball and fight for it well, so other drops come from trying to make the play before securing the ball. Basically, last year, Perriman was trying to make huge plays to keep UCF alive. I think his mistakes are easily correctable.

Yup. We dont have player like him on our WR corp. He is a complimentary player for sss/kamar.

No one's mentioned Campanero.

He looks and plays like Torrey right off the bat - with similar measurables.

If he came eliminate the poor drops and play with aggression, he's going to be great.

But really IDK why there wasn't more flack for Torrey with that in the national media. Literally the worst c'mon man of all time. At least Sanchez tried during the butt fumble. Same w/ Cundiff and Evans.

But let's not poison this thread GOOD LUCK PERRIMAN,

Depends on how early he's playing in the offense.

Unless there is injury, I think a round one wr pick with speed on the outside will be on the field in game one. Even if he still has issues the defense will have to account for the speed.

Watching the first round Reaction presser Ozzie and company don't even seem that excited.

I saw that too. Never know though what's going through their head at that point. Maybe just exhausted, but he didn't seem into it. Not for nothing, on many people's reports, he's the 4th best wr in the draft, so take it how you will.

I don't get the comparison to Torrey Smith. Breshad is taller, a lot thicker built, and has a much wider wingspan. He attacks and high points the ball, uses his hands well to catch the ball, has amazing body control, and he actually goes over the middle.

I guess people see his speed (which is definitely faster than Torrey's) and YPC and compare him to Torrey, but Perriman goes over the middle far more and runs lots of short to intermediate routes on top of the verticals. The reason for his high YPC is because he flat out flies when he catches the ball. He's probably the smoothest receiver, up there with Cooper, in terms of being able to just turn and run immediately upon securing the catch. He also breaks quite a few tackles, something Torrey wasn't reliable with.

I know the big issue is his route running and his hands, but to me, both are fixable. I know people are concerned that he rounds his routes, but when you're running that fast, I don't think it's a huge concern. I'm more concerned about the fact that he is too quick to pull up and sell his routes with his shoulders. That just shows a lack of patience in his routes and if he can learn to coral that and sell it longer, he'll be golden. The hands to me, no concern. If you watch some of the catches in traffic and the insane body contorting catches, you'll see he can catch. The routine drops to me stem from technique of not always tracking the ball well because he'll often be late to get his hands up and I think that leads to the drops. If he could get his hands up sooner without selling where the ball will be, he'll, again, be golden.

this guy hairdo is sick like a predator preying for the balls.....

I truly believe our staffs will eliminate the drops he had in college and he'll be the next Predatron.

I don't know about ya but last night I had one of the best sleeps in awhile.  Dude is right on the money!!

I think I saw somewhere that he dropped 8 of 54 catchable passes, but he caught 50 passes, so that means he's catching balls that aren't "catchable throws", which tells me the drops are something fixable.

Hadn't heard the second stat yet about him catching 50..

That's definitely true then

It was 50 catches for like 1100 yards, I think
