Welcome to Baltimore, Breshad Perriman

Something I wonder if Perriman has tried is cryotherapy. For those unfamiliar it's a treatment that some top athletes like Lebron James swear by for decreasing inflammation/pain/shorten recovery time. You can look into the specifics behind it if you're interested but basically it involves getting in a chamber and getting surrounded by a nitrogen mist at -166 degrees for 2-3 minutes. Think of it as an extreme version of an ice bath.

Recently more and more athletic programs are incorporating it into their treatment, specifically wealthy programs like Alabama Football. I think it certainly couldn't hurt to try, for the amount of positive reviews out there from a lot of top athletes it definitely benefits certain types of injuries and inflammation significantly.

That's a big step up from deer antler spray.

With Perriman's knee injury, he will be sidelined for the 2nd consecutive preseason game and will likely miss more training camp practices to come. Being that Perriman is a rookie who went out on the first day of training camp with no clear return to practice, it will take time for him to get a feel for the quickness of the game and build chemistry with Flacco. With that said, when will Breshad Perriman make an impact for the Ravens offense?

I'd say in the 2nd game of the season. The Raiders secondary isn't particularly good so that seems like the moment for them to really see what he can do. Though I can see the Ravens at least trying a few long bombs to him during the Broncos game to test their corners, and make the safeties back up.

Hopefully starting Week 1 but realistically probably between Week 5-6. I figure if he starts practicing at least a week before the season begins then it will take him about a month, or 4 games, to start feeling comfortable. He'll start getting more and more reps. And by November-December I think we'll be seeing what he would've looked like had he stayed healthy early...which is seeing him make plays like a true 1st rounder.

I agree... I think there will always be a few plays per game where we go for it for either a PI or long bomb... but Idk if Perriman will be healthy enough to get reps over Aiken, Camp, or even Waller at that time... b/c he'll have a lot of catching up to do, no pun intended...not to mention Brown if he stays healthy and plays to his potential. Perriman's not even running right now and we're 3 weeks away from kickoff... I'm nervous. I'm thinking by next week, he'll be running, by last preseason game he'll be practicing, and by Week 1 he'll be close to 100%... so maybe you're right about the Raiders. Can't wait!

Not sure why my completely different and specific topic was arbitrarily lumped into this thread when one has nothing to do with the other but whatev... I guess it's hogpog, just throw it in with the thread that already has Perriman in the title, they won't be the wiser... probably should rename title, "Everything Perriman" in that case

here is the issue with perriman.

if this were aglahor or cooper i wouldn't be worried because they have a natural feel for the game

perriman is still more of a freak athlete than football player..he doesn't have the fluidity of some others..

odell beckham jr was out but looked like the best receiver in the league in the last 9 games. the difference is he also had fluidity to his game.

WHY is there even an issue?  They new what they got in Perriman.  He's Torrey Smith v2.0.  He's got tons of potential and freakish traits that can't be taught.  I could care less about fluidity if he's leaving Cortez Allen, Joe Hayden, Reggie Nelson, Aquib Talib, and Devin McCourty in the dust.  He's a straight line speedster like Torrey, but one that can actually reach for the ball, take it from defenders, grip it and power to break free for chunks of yardage.  Who else would you have wanted in the draft after him?  He's a rookie and he's going to take time to hit his stride.  All the thing I'm reading are teachable but he already brings the unteachable.

It could be worse - what if we have Kevin White?  Everyone needs to stop comparing Perriman to we don't have and just start enjoying the potential he brings.  All that noise just sounds plain spoiled.  When he's healed and playing I think the naysayers will be singing a different tune.

Torrey Smith v2.0 would not warrant 1st round pick. Ravens and lot of people here view Perriman as much more, why don't you?

Same. I just want to see the guy on the field asap. Staying out of action w injuries can make you into another Arthur brown. Don't want that..

somethin tells me you didn't think obj had "fluidity" before those last 9 games. However I'm sure you will beg to differ and claim that you pegged him as the next big thing.

He was my fav receiver in the draft . I wasn't alone in that regard..most of us were hoping he would fall to us.

I wasn't on the boards last year but is this really true???  Pretty much everyone I saw everywhere else was surprised with his sudden jump way up most draft boards, and you're saying guys here were hoping he'd fall to 17?

Actually very true.  He was one of my favorites, personally.  I had him as my #1 WR by time the draft rolled around, and I know many others around here did as well.

Sami never actually voiced any high praise for Beckham, but I had him as my 2a/2b receiver with Lee.

Oh yeah I have no idea whether or not Sami said anything about him.  I was more addressing how highly rated he was around here.

But to get back on topic, I'd really love to see Perriman get back on the field, but I'm pretty sure everyone shares those feelings.

then how is he torrey smith v 2.0?

this comparison is so lazy, ridiculously off, and played out that i am astonished that people on these boards are still saying it constantly. the difference in their ball skills is so astronomical that it is laughable to say that theyre essentially the same player.

I liked him and cooks. I knew watkins was gone in the first 5 picks so I didn't even bother with that.

The only thing they have in common is speed.  Perriman has way better hands...  has demonstrated that he has the ability to go up and fight for the ball, and most importantly WIN when he does.  Much better potential than Torrey.  I will agree Joey

The analysts actually compared him to Dwayne Bowe.

This is actually a pretty good highlight reel, and there are tons.  I just think he's a lot better than Torrey.

i thought the same during the draft process, mostly because i read he has drops and decided to disregard him entirely, so ill admit to thinking he was just another torrey. but just a quick film study will tell you that where he currently is as a rookie, is far more refined than torrey in every way, with natural ball skills(as in body control and highpointing and attacking etc.) with inconsistent hands. in short, hes fast like torrey, but everything else a WR could possibly do.. perriman does better. i understand folks outside of the fanbase making the comparison, but for us ravens fans we should study up on our new draftees instead of taking these lazy comparisons and running with them

^ Do you run, catch and get hit for a living? I doubt it.

Lol I wish I could get paid millions to work out and play football. If only it were that easy.

Did the team know about Perriman's condition before the draft?

Yes his condition tends to end in adolescence. The reason he has been out longer is because of a MCL sprain. Being careful with their first pick in the draft as they should when they don't need to rush him back.

Exactly. You can't miss what you never had.  Let him come back and contribute when he's 100%.

Considering that you're only wishing to play the sport at the professional level, perhaps it wasn't easy enough. Then again, I'm also not bold enough to compare heading to a normal job with aches and bruises to sprinting and cutting at full speed against elite athletes in a contact sport after spraining one of the four major ligaments in the knee; so we wouldn't agree with either of the two. There's a difference between being hurt and being injured, but that itself wouldn't do justice to the stark contrast between the two scenarios.
