Or he'll just say "I was amping him up since we drafted him" like he did with Jernigan.

 yep, or Forsett.

Everyone that questioned Devin's durability:

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/13361626/devin-smith-new-york-jets-miss-four-six-weeks-punctured-lung-broken-ribs

have fun imagining if he was our receiver....

How does a freak injury like this indicate a lack of durability? Happy none of our key players have had this significant of an injury but I wouldn't count Smith out this year. Odell missed the first few games last year as well.

Why? That's smart strategy.

Yes, it is.  Keeps other teams guessing.

The way I view it, Perriman probably could have returned the next day and played in an actual game if it were the regular season or returned to practice after a day or two if it were the regular season, but it's not. There is absolutely no rush for someone who has apparently having an amazing training camp already with the big plays. Why push it if he's already showing good chemistry and a knack for big plays? Let that heal up and make sure there is no risk of a worse injury.

Can you elaborate on that?

He could be out as long as a week. Fine. Let the damn thing heal. Breshad needs to get time in though.. But he was apperantly making a tough catch when he sustained his injury. So it's fine

remember..when herbs says its a few days its more like a week to 10 days.

When harb says its 2 weeks its 5 weeks

When harbs says its a month its the season

there is no coach in the NFL that downplays injuries more than harbs.

He'll lose time but at least he should be good to go before next Monday.

1. That Avi is amazing. Well done.

2. Agreed. Perriman actually has me excited for a reciever prospect. Feels weird.

What's weird for me is we finally drafted a WR in the 1st and I'm not nearly as excited as I thought I'd be....still excited to see what he brings, don't get me wrong...Just not ecstatic.

a bruised knee isnt a major concern, it hurts, causes swelling, which can lead to ligament damage if you attempt to play on it at full speed, but it isnt something that generally lingers, nags, or takes a while to heal.

i hate knowing we probably wont be seeing him play our preseason debut, but id rather him sit it out than to aggravate it.

This sums it all up in this fan's opinion. It's a minor inconvenience to the fans (who are notorious for being short-sighted no matter what team we're talking about), but it's definitely one of those injuries that's worth waiting on to properly heal up.

I wouldn't even go as far as to say he won't play against the Saints.  We have 10 more days before that game, so I think as long as he practices again before the end of the weekend he'll play a few snaps in that game.  Unless it's a really deep bruise, 5-8 days would be an expected amount of time for healing.

Here's to Perriman being available by week 1 of the regular season; would say week 4 of the preseason but I think only bottom of the depth chart players play in preseason week 4. Hope he does something.

If he misses the first game I can't imagine he'll miss the second unless a second injury occurres

This Perriman knee injury reminds me of the Webb back injury from last year.It started in TC and we were told it was day to day and wasn't anything serious but he ended up missing the entire preseason and the first quarter of the season. At this point I think Breshads injury is actually serious.I heard somewhere that he would more than likely miss the first preseason game.It wouldn't surprise me if he misses the first few games of the season too.

Harbaugh has never been honest with us when it comes to injuries. All I'm suggesting is that this knee injury could be alot worse than we've been led to believe.

I wonder if Perriman will ever walk again?

I'm not saying his season is over.I'm just suggesting that he's not day to day and might need another month or so to heal.

I agree…probably won't be fully healed for another 6-7 weeks

im scared about the jernigan injury..if he is out that makes us much much weaker.

Never been honest? He's just reporting what the medical staff tells him.

maybe so - even if it does take another 6 weeks to fully heal that doesn't mean it will keep him from playing or that it will even effect his performance. Im more concerned with the Jernigan injury at this point bc I haven't heard anything whatsoever.

Think maybe he does that for a reason?  He only needs to state there is an injury.  Opposing teams would love to know if our guys are hurt worst than necessary.  You do realize that opponents do target players that are hurt?

i still think perriman will be fine. i will continue believing so until preseason week 3. that is always the safest game to field a player, experienced guys get more reps, players have shaken off the rust, guys are playing more disciplined, and youre less likely to encounter a no-name bubble guy flailing his body around in desperation to make a name for himself. if perriman is still sidelined by preseason week 3, then i think its time to worry.

you all have to realize that a bone bruise is not a little nick. its not the kind of thing that can derail a career or even a season, but it has to be taken care of properly, otherwise it will linger until it becomes a problem.

although i am getting concerned about jernigan, but i suppose no news is a good sign in this case.
