Ray Lewis skips draft to stay in Baltimore

Definitely keeping his loyalty to the city that adopted him. Tough situation, not sure what Ray can/plans to do to help out, but good on him.

A lot needs to happen in Bmore. A LOT!

But by Ray being there, at least it shows to the citizens that someone cares about them.  People in Bmore trust Ray. By doing some public speaking to the crowds during the daytime, he'll be able to get a lot of folks together to continue to stand strong among the mess.

I know the other thread got deleted with the video message he sent to the youth who were involved but damn, he still has that fire in him. I thought I was listening to a pregame speech the way he was talking in the video. What I love the most is he talked about Baltimore being HIS city, that right there is loyalty beyond the football team and the sport of football.

Thank You Ray!

Such a BAWS photo!

Not mine. From a friend that posted it to his FB page.

Not seeing that story in all the media coverage though.

For the record, the thread was removed because of the over the top comments, not the video.

Super proud of Ray.  and yes his video is great.  Over 15million views in a few hours.

I dont care what people out side of Baltimore think of him.  We all know who he is and how he loves this city.

Dude on far right looks like Snoop Dogg, but these men are good citizens and I'm glad they are defending their beloved city of which they had helped building.....

If all good citizens stand out and parents curfew their own children, thugs, thieves, and criminals will have nothing to wall themselves from the police and the media. Soon or later, they will crawl back to their holes and hide....

Hey guys, just visiting to say good luck in the draft and be safe out there.

Follow the advice of your Ravens players who have been posting about it on Twitter. Violence is never the answer. Think twice before taking action.

Not gonna lie. When I saw that video, I started to get emotional. Ray is so powerful with words. If one person can talk some sense into people, it's Ray. Seeing people do this to the city I live in has me feeling emotional lately. But amongst all the bad, there is so much good. I've seen people help one another and people clean up. There's a lot of beautiful stuff happening in the city.

I'll leave just leave this photo here:

Although I am not from Baltimore, I do appreciate him deciding to stay. I think it shows that he really cares about the city aside from football. Not only that, but he is also avoiding the unncessary questions he might be asked throughout the draft which potentially takes away from talking about Baltimores picks.

Baltimore is truly a good place....  What people are doing NOW is what is so important.  Let the healing begin.

If you're not following the Tweets coming out from the Ravens today, you're missing something truly special.

I don't do tweet cuz too much time consuming and i'm kind of old school; what do I miss?

Anyways, I love to see the positive picture from Baltimore; I love Ravens team and devastating to see the city of  my team going down like that....

Stop hating and think about our children's future; no more violence....

A LOT of players and coaches are in Baltimore today helping out, visiting schools, etc. The pictures are enough to make you cry for pride in our team.

Monday, I was embarrassed for our City....  Couldn't believe what I was seeing.  Tuesday and Wednesday, I was in awe of it all and how it appeared that the city was feeling the same way, and very quickly came together and did what they needed to begin the healing.

Today?  I am filled with Pride that our City and our Teams are out there doing it too.
