2015 Draft a Franchise: Announcement Thread

196 posts in this topic

As you can tell, the signups are underway for the 2015 Draft a Franchise.

If you don't know what it is, 32 forum members come together and have a draft of current NFL players.  There will be 26 rounds in a snake-style draft.  The order will be randomized after all 32 people have signed up.

There are relatively few rules.  There is no trading of picks, you have 12 hours to pick and you must post a roster.

If you want to see what the draft looked like last year, here is the draft thread: http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/58542-draft-a-franchise-the-draft/

Use this thread to discuss for now until we get the game underway.  The game will start after the draft and we will then create a discussion thread for that.

So, if you have any questions, shoot away in this thread––not the signup thread––post your team name, etc.

26 rounds, no trades, I think we are doing 12 hours per pick this year? Pretty straightforward. You don't have to choose ST.

Could we add a 27th round, and add the option to draft a head coach? I'd make the rule come into play in like the eighth round or something so the people who pick at the end of the order get the first swing at one. Maybe like the 12th round so it's more of an equaliser.

Just a thought.

That sounds like a pretty good idea actually.

Unfortunatley I will not be available for the "Draft a Franchise" as I will be out of town in early June for a week.  I will have fun following the thread while i'm in town though.  Enjoy and Go Ravens

You can still send your draft board to someone. The way this works you can got plenty of days without picking due to the snake style draft. I will most likely be picking from overseas for at least a month.

If you're only out for a week or so, you could always leave your board with someone else when you're gone.

Also, I was going to wait for the registration thread but I may as well enter my team here since it seems that's what we're doing.

If I were putting together a board for a week how many players would I need to give to someone?

It's probably easiest to guess closer to the time. If you're leaving in June the game will likely be at the point where your guys are more likely to fall to you as well.

We will figure it out then.

If anyone needs any spectacular team names, I'm your guy.

I won't be participating this year, but I'm willing to step into the Inqui-style advisor role if anyone would like a counterpart that just kind of comes in and offers opinions.  I'm now accepting bids for my services.

It's a good role, right? No pressure. I like it a lot. I'm not participating either. I just don't have the time to dedicate.

I believe we are doing 12 hours. It seemed to work for the forum mock and no-one seems opposed to keeping the limit at 12 hours.

Matt Millen is officially in retirement then I see.

Matt Millen was my director of scouting, but he's my scapegoat for all the "what the hell were you thinking?" picks from last year. Same with Tywin (Hand of the GM). Let's see where the Life of Brian('s career) goes.

While hawkprey said no to joining, he said if someone drops out during the game, he'll consider it, so mark him down on the waiting list.
