Vote for Ed Reed in this Dan Patrick Poll

reed was simply amazing on the field, and was possibly one of the most entertaining safeties to watch for sure. as a ravens fan, i would take reed over polamalu simply because i know what he was capable of. but lets not forget, dude blew many coverages throughout his career. sometimes got too risky or cocky and it showed. high risk high reward type player. also wasnt as good a tackler as polamalu, and polamalu played with more discipline no doubt. they approached the game completely different, but im not surprised football analysts are taking polamalu over reed. and hes got more championships, which is another huge advantage when comparing two players at the same position.

I understand where you are coming from, but Polamalu and Reed didn't play the same position.  There are many more good SS in the league than FS.

I don't understand people lauding Polamalu as a great tackler because he used to torpedo dive so much and it was a huge hit or miss. Does no one remember Rice stiff arming his face into the ground in the 2010 playoffs?

if you REALY want to narrow it down then they played different variation at the same position. but this poll is about two players playing the same position, a NFL safety.

I understand the poll is about Safety, but that is where the poll is technically wrong.

I dont think theres anything wrong with the poll. both players were extremely dynamic, versatile, and all over the field. both players were capable of playing both variations at the safety position. both are easily considered the best to to play the position. its a great poll and i would take ed reed, but like i said i can understand why other people would take polamalu, theres a reason hes up 55% to reeds 45%.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm only stating my opinion.  Each technically played safety, but one was more a FS and the other was more a SS, yes they could both play SS and FS, but that's not what I was stating.

I'd choose Ed Reed as well and I'm not choosing that on a bias either.

Its like comparing a middle and an outside linebacker, they're both linebackers. Or a fullback and a halfback, they're both running backs. It just doesn't work.

When you thought of Ed Reed, you think of all the inhuman performances on the field.  Somethings just cannot be replicated and he did it on regular basis on his prime.

Would there be any safety in the league ever as feared as Ed Reed was vs QB in the NFL?  Without ever laying a finger on a QB? I don't think so.

The man had over 1500 yards after INT.  61 INTs and 137 PD while he was a Raven.  Just think about that.

Ed Reed > Troy the linebacker anyday!

this is the argument any purple shaded closeted raven fan will use because ed reed didnt win the poll lol. if ed reed won, you wouldnt be bringing the whole "FS vs SS" gimmick argument. hilarious.

you sure do laugh a lot. If your advocating for ed reed and he was winning then the argument wouldn't be necessary.

Yes, but his comparison is accurate, whether you like it or not.

As far as he's concerned, he wasn't in the argument and I'm sure he's not concerned with what you think since none of us has credibility because we aren't journalist, that I know of.

And again, like it or not, varaven has a point.

And the vote being skewed I'm sure has nothing to do with the fact that it was conducted very shortly after Polamalu announced his retirement
