As much as everyone seems to trash Montee Ball, I feel he'd be a good stop gap while LT is out. Worst comes to worst, he won't sign for that much and can be cut whenever

It's too bad the Browns didn't cut Terrence West. We probably would've taken him over Crockett Gilmore in the draft if he was available, that turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Gilmore is looking like a stud going into this season. At the same time I feel bad for West, he went to a team that was in turmoil and you got the feeling he never fit in there and was never excited about being a Brown.

Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up starting in Tennessee, I think he has a lot more talent than he got to show in Cleveland. We would've been the perfect fit for him if they had ended up cutting him.

Pretty much my thoughts. Not like we're looking to sign a #1 back.

They didn't claim him, James was signed to PS.

they did claim him, and signed him to PS, but doesnt mean they wont bump him up to active roster if a CB goes down, he'll be first one up.

I think Ball has some useful life in him.

Get Jonas Gray Rb cut by Pats asap

lol if a RB gets cut by the Pats he must be REALLY bad.

You can get in the doghouse in New England if you're perceived to give less than a pledge of your life to the Team.

He overslept for sure, maybe they caught a positive on him with in house allegiance. You know, involuntary testing.

Nope. Claim means picking up off waivers and a spot on the 53 man roster. He may or not even be on the PS according to reports.

I've read great things about Charles James from Texans. Say he a good corner that plays with tons of passion.

in all fairness, frank walker also played with tons of passion.

Yeah, I saw him getting beat a lot in camp on hard knocks.

For what it's worth, I think James' way to the roster will be because of his ST ability, and not as much his defensive play.  It's nice to have his versatility at the end of the roster if he does make it, though.

Why? He had one good game against a terrible run defense and immediately disappeared.

From what I could figure out from reports, this is correct. He cleared waivers, then opted for Ravens offer over Texans, who wanted to bring him back on PS.

There was no official confirmation he's been added to our PS but he keeps tweeting he's on his way to Baltimore.

youre right, he cleared waivers then we signed him, according to reports. havent seen any reports that are stating he has NOT signed with the ravens. please link them if you have, thank you. and please dont link an article stating we havent "officially signed him yet" because that just means they are going to tomorrow AM.

I was talking about the action of being claimed, which is not what happened. Claiming a player requires the team adding him to the 53 man roster which clearly has not happened. The Ravens have 10 players on their PS  already which means James was NOT claimed or signed to the PS. His status is currently up in the air. It's possible that changes, but as of right now any reports are just speculation.

According to the NFL transaction report, as of 9/7, the Ravens have only 8 players officially added to the Practice Squad. For whatever reason, Konrad Reuland and Jeremy Ross (I guess you could throw in James too) haven't been officially added.

Perhaps they'll release Reuland since they just signed Jones (he's on the list), then add Ross and James or an RB...then decide which of the 3 gets promoted to the 53 when Urban is designated, with the other two to the PS.

Or, they could have been late filing paperwork...

PS is not officially filled yet. theres a process involved in signing players. its not as easy as calling them and saying "youre on the team"

The only reason the Clowns didn't cut him but traded him was so he could escape the gravity like vice of the Ravens! Players choose Baltimore every chance they get and the Clowns knew it too.

If the Browns cut West then he'd be a Buccaneer or a Titan like he is now. If the Titans traded for him, I'm certain they would've signed him without losing a draft pick by claiming him off waivers.

You make a thoughtful and correct point. My hatred of our AFCN rivals is making me myopic  ! He'd have more than likely been a Titan anyway (since he isn't a vested vet) through the waiver claim system.

your exact works were "the ravens have 10 PS players already". no, they didnt.

and btw they signed james today, after reports were stating they were going to sign him, and you said reports claimed otherwise.

Boy, and to think I started all of this yesterday by a failure in semantics ... Should have said, snagged, grabbed, picked up ... even signed .... anything but "claimed".

Claimed has a specific connotation in this process. I tried to point out the difference, that's all.
