Free Agency Targets

To be fair I think fans of every team do the same thing lol. Out of all the guys we've discussed I think Phil Taylor is a real possibility, AFCN guy so we're familiar with him, good depth with injury issues already popping up on the interior DL, just seems like a total Ozzie pick up. We'll see though, he will definitely have quite a few suitors after his services.

Trouble with Taylor is that he's been cut because of the injury issues, from that standpoint we don't gain anything.

I also noticed quite a few people mentioning our friend Trindon Holliday now - he also can't get healthy at all and is the same type of player Asa is (much better returner, I'll grant him that) - returns kicks but a liability at his position.

Point was he was a 3rd WR in Green Bay.  Here he may be an upgrade over Brown (though Aiken is the closer comparison in terms of size).

Boykins skill set is sure hands, something that our receivers seem to have forgotten since last season.  He's essentially a large possession receiver.  This allows Sr. and whoever else to be the outside threats.

Boykins production is not really that different from Marlon Brown production in his rookie year. Have any of The Ravens starting receivers drop any passes in preseason so far? I really don't remember none of them dropping any passes other than Butler in the first preseason game. I honestly don't think The Ravens are in need of number 3 receiver because I'm fully confident Kamar Aikens, Marlon Brown, and Micheal Campanaro can handle that role quite well..

The real question is do they have number 2 receiver because none have really impress a whole lot in that role other than in training camp. Hopefully Aiken or Perriman can be that guy but if Boykins was actually fast with kick return experience then it would be more beneficial  for The Ravens to sign him .

This article says he asked to be released, nothing about injury. It won't matter though, he is visiting the Steelers.

I was wondering why alot you guys kept talking about Phil Taylor so much so I googled him and realised he's only 27 and well in his prime. For some reason I thought he was in his 30's.It felt like he'd been with the browns for the last decade.I think he'd be a great addition.I haven't been happy with what I've seen from our run defense this pre season anyway.

I thought it was injury settlement.

That what the reporter said on The Browns site that it was a injury settlement but he could have been wrong. It was mention on pro football talk.com that he asked for a release but I honestly don't know which one is true.

The Steelers passed on Phil Taylor because of his knee.  Reports indicate that he's likely to need additional surgery.

Anyone interested in Jarrett Boykin?  He was good as Aaron Rogers 3rd receiver and was misused in Carolina.  Big frame receiver with sure hands.

The problem with Boykin is that we have a few guys with his same skill set, i.e. Brown and Aiken.

I'd keep an eye on the Texans for a potential returner.  Damaris Johnson, Keshawn Martin, and Chandler Worthy are all competing there.

The Bengels have some too  such as  Brandon Tate,Tevin Reese, and  Mario Alford

Maybe I'm not saying it explicitly enough, but...Jarrett Boykin for WR2.  I think he could be that for us.  At this point I'm not sure they even call him in because a real KR guy is needed and he's too slow that.  My other favorite  is also  now a Buc - CB Tim Jennings.  He could've done some KR/PR too.

Skill set, maybe.  But are they as good or as polished?  Boykin is slow for a receiver - Boldin slow - but he does get separation and moves the chains.  Can't say Aiken and Brown have been that impressive this preseason.

Kenjon Barner is a potential cut from the Eagles. If he is, I don't see why Ozzie won't pull the trigger. We saw first hand what he can do as a returner, and he also fills a need as a backup RB.

If Boykins could be a number 2 wide receiver for The Ravens than The Panthers most likely wouldn't have cut him and The Ravens have   better talent at receiver than The Panthers. I had a feeling Jennings was either going to the Buccs or Cowboys due to him knowing the coaches but I didn't know he had kick/punt return experience . I'm a little surprised he went to The Buccs because he would have been  a starter and seen more playing time  with The Cowboys.

Any word on Phil Taylor?

The last time I check he  visited  The Steelers for a potential offer but The Steelers medical doctors found out Taylor knee still isn't health enough to play and The Steelers didn't think it was necessary to sign him . Its also some reports out there that Taylor may need more surgery on his knee.

I'd be shocked if he became available, but would love to pick him up on our squad if he does.

Word is that they might keep Raheem Mostert over Barner.  I'd be looking at either if they got cut.  Mostert has been great this preseason, but not sure if that means anything since I haven't followed the Eagles in camp at all.

Montee Ball is might be cut but im not sure if he offers anything.

I could be thinking of someone else but if not he's had injury issues and ball security issues

He's still available. The Steelers didn't sign him b/c he failed his physical. They feel he needs another knee surgery.

Kenjon Barner is a lock to get cut, it seems. The Eagles are very willing to trade him at this point in time, so if no trade partner is found, he'll be cut.

Barber would make too much sense for us. Also why was Darnell Duckett cut?
