Free Agency Targets

I believe he would be a good addition to our D-line rotation especially in first down and 3rd and short situations...

Taylor would be a great addition to our defense, especially in backing up Williams at the nose.  One thing we all have to remember is, our cap space is going to dwindle come September 5th because we will have to account for all 53 players on the roster and everyone on the PUP, IR and Practice Squad.  Just something to keep in mind, we might not even be able to afford Taylor, Jennings or anyone else prominent that may come available.

IR counts against the cap?

Yep. Everyone on the roster will starting on 9/10, if I remember correctly. Rule of 51 goes out and IR, PUP, PS all count.

Good thing is right now we don't have many expensive players that wont be on the 53 man roster except for Pitta.  Nonetheless we have about 7.5 million available now, but that number could be cut in half atleast by the time the roster is set.

According to The Cleveland Browns website Phil Taylor  was released on a injury settlement. He didn't play in any of the preseason games to my understand. He might be still dealing with some issues with his knee and it might be worse off than expected if they released him . Some Browns fan say he asked for his released but that's not clear at the  moment

He might be done then, at least for a decent part of the season if he was not put on IR or something like that. I would not worry too much about getting him now if interested though, I bet he will probably be a mid or late season injury pick up if that...

I knew PS did, but didn't realize about the IR.

The story about Taylor that always sticks out is him not going hard on Morgan Cox who continued to long-snap with a torn ACL, even helped him up out of his stance if I recall. Good sportsman. Also he may or may not have been spit on by Ray Rice...

I'd be happy to see him here if we had they chance and he's healthy.

which is why the front office is busy getting injury settlements out of some of them. I agree cap space is tight.

I'm not sure if he's been mentioned already, but the Ravens should look into Denarius Moore.I've always considered him a lesser version of Torrey Smith. If he wasn't cut by the Bengals for health reasons then he can help fill that speed void until Perrimans ready to come back.He could also give Joe another proven veteran route runner who might be a little more dependable than the other guys.

taylor would upgrade our run defense even more.

TBH i rather have him williams and canty on run defense and let jernigan sub in on passing down like doom.

this could keep jernigan fresh and hopefully less likely to get injured.

i dont see him last long if he has to play major snaps like ngata did.

I was a fan of his when he hit free agency and wanted us to try and get him, but it may be that he's just a speed guy. He's worth the chance but Idk about on a roster with as many wrs as we have still fighting for a spot, especially since there is only one preseason game Left

"We don't need another plodding power type runner, that's what we have LT for and he does a much better job of it than Magee"

That's actually exactly what we need , Atleast for the first few weeks until tali comes back.

He's as inconsistent as it gets and constantly banged up.  Sounds like the exact opposite of what we'd be looking for.

True, Brooks returning does help the position greatly.

Brooks has potential but he has yet to show it - his only highlight so far would be the hit on Delanie imo. That was an awesome hit though, I was fortunate to attend that game.

I hope Terrence develops nicely despite his recent setback. Hill and Brooks could form a solid back end.

I enjoyed reading that but I'm also a biased Ravens fan ;)

Can't wait for the regular season when vanilla is out and chocolate is back!

Go Ravens!

I've always thought vanilla is one of the best flavors. Toppings are good though.

Ideally, yeah I would also like to have him until LT get's back. Are we keeping 4 RB's then? From my understanding LT isn't on the PUP list because then he wouldn't be able to play until week 7. Last year I don't believe we ever carried more than 3, Toussaint wasn't called up from the PS until LT was placed on IR.

Anyone interested in Jarrett Boykin?  He was good as Aaron Rogers 3rd receiver and was misused in Carolina.  Big frame receiver with sure hands.

Boykins skill set isn't really different from Marlon Brown . He's not fast and he doesn't have kick return experience.

we already have enough 3rd tier "big frame" receivers.

Point was he was a 3rd WR in Green Bay.  Here he may be an upgrade over Brown (though Aiken is the closer comparison in terms of size).

Boykins skill set is sure hands, something that our receivers seem to have forgotten since last season.  He's essentially a large possession receiver.  This allows Sr. and whoever else to be the outside threats.

Slow day today. I expected more action across the NFL with all the cuts and roster moves being made. I guess GM's are waiting until after the final preseason game to make decisions on their bubble players and who they want to attempt to sign out of the available FA's.

Trivia question from 2065:

- In what year have Ravens fans stopped jumping on every player cut by other teams in preseason?

Answer:

- They haven't. This was a trick question.

To be fair I think fans of every team do the same thing lol. Out of all the guys we've discussed I think Phil Taylor is a real possibility, AFCN guy so we're familiar with him, good depth with injury issues already popping up on the interior DL, just seems like a total Ozzie pick up. We'll see though, he will definitely have quite a few suitors after his services.

No cuts are happening today or tomorrow.  Teams need their guys to get through the last preseason game since starters across the league won't be playing.
