My feelings are hurt that he chose the Seahawks over us!

Could be a blessing in disguise and would've taken away reps from Buck Allen. I'm a big believer in Allen, I think out of all the underwhelming preseason performers Buck is in for the biggest turn around. The one thing that I see in him that I like a lot is his vision and the way he uses jump cuts similar to Arian Foster to hit the hole and get vertical. Honestly a lot of his runs have been behind a patch work OL where there isn't a hole for him to even hit. People say Magee has played better with the same OL but Magee is a hard nosed SEC back who can run himself into traffic and come out of it better than Buck on those types of plays. Wait until Buck get's some actual holes to hit week 1 when the starting OL is in there. I think he will give Zo a run for his money as the #2 by the time he's back, I really do.

I'm more concerned with the secondary as far as adding FA's. For once... I'm really not too worried about the offense. I worry about KO and Perriman's health but that's about it.

So Magee can make something out of nothing and Allen won't look good until the o-line gives him holes to run through........like any other RB not named Trent Richardson.  That's not much praise for Buck

I don't think we'd go with 5.  I think it'd be at the expense of Magee, who I'm sure we'd like to have on the practice squad.

I was  counting Juice  as a running back that's why I said 5 but it's probably better to say four since we don't usually ask Juice to run with the ball.

I'm not sure we'll have much of a choice to go with 4 true RBs if LT is going to miss a few weeks.  I don't think we'd take the chance with only 2 guys to tote the ball.

He'd been a rumored cut for a fair amount of time this offseason.

But yes, I would not mind going after him. Just that I'm pretty sure he's a pure NT and the Ravens are obviously happy with Williams and I believe Davis also plays there.

To be fair, we've used Williams at DT a lot.

Made it work with 2 huge bodies last year with Williams and Ngata.  Taylor doesn't have that pocket pushing ability, but I'm sure he'd still be a welcomed addition to the run defense.

To quote Field Yates:

The Browns got 5 picks in Julio deal: * Phil Taylor * Greg Little * Owen Marecic * Brandon Weeden * 4th rder to move up 1 slot to draft T-Rich

Taylor's knee may not be right after surgery last year. Did he play in any preseason games?

According to The Cleveland Browns website Phil Taylor  was released on a injury settlement. He didn't play in any of the preseason games to my understand. He might be still dealing with some issues with his knee and it might be worse off than expected if they released him . Some Browns fan say he asked for his released but that's not clear at the  moment

That's not what I'm saying. Magee is built to barrel through contact better, Buck is a jump cut slasher. Behind a bad OL Magee will pick up more little chunks of yardage because he can put his shoulder down and get through traffic better. I think a guy like Magee would look better than Forsett behind that terrible OL too because Forsett isn't that guy who can fight through congestion similar to Buck. Our starting OL is usually good about opening some sort of running lane for Forsett to hit but the times they don't he get's swallowed up just like Buck does when there is no hole to hit.

You put Magee with the starters and he can't hit the hole like Forsett or Buck. That's the difference, on plays where there is a lane for Forsett or Buck they can get vertical and potentially break off 20+ yd runs and Magee won't make it into the second level because he doesn't have that type of burst hitting the hole and he doesn't have the acceleration to get up field in a hurry once there is daylight. We don't need another plodding power type runner, that's what we have LT for and he does a much better job of it than Magee. With Forsett and Buck you have 2 guys who can hit home runs and shred LB's who don't seal off lanes fast enough. It may be tough sledding these first few weeks without LT because we will lack that power runner for short yardage and GL situation. We may see Juice get some touches in those situations or rely on Forsett's veteran savvy to get small and find a way to convert like he did at times last season despite it clearly not being his strong suit based on his build.

Evidently he and Marshawn are tight! They started for the Bills at the same time when Lynch was drafted in the first round...

Taylor is intriguing. Only 27, had a good rookie season, and let's face it his situation stunk. We could certainly use the depth.

The Browns actually generally have a very solid defense

I think the chiefs will cut a good/decent safety or corner by final cuts, they have decent depth there

I'm not thinking a safety is a big concern with Brooks back in the fold now.

Fred Jackson is still in Seattle, but didn't sign a deal today.  Reports say there's no rush for either side to get it done, but I imagine we're working the phones if the reported interest from us is legitimate.

That is just terrible, draft picks mean a lot but you gotta be able to find the right players with them

It's bad when even regular fans no the picks aren't good. I dont know how GMs last sonkong sometimes. The only one I thought would turn out decent was Taylor and even that didn't work out.

I don't know why they last sonkong either(in fact I don't know what that means). Maybe it has something to do with ineptness of a front office and the ownership not caring at all? Idk. Edited by LosT_in_TranSlatioN

I believe he would be a good addition to our D-line rotation especially in first down and 3rd and short situations...

True, Brooks returning does help the position greatly.
