Have you seen Buck Allen in the pre-season t? He has been very underwhelming, jackson would back up Forsett, adding in the fact that Lorenzo is injured.

valid point, would Obviously depend on the money. Also, id hate to see LT get barrier on the depth chart and postpone any chance he has at developing into a back for the future.

I agree in that we need to give Taliaferro and Allen chances to develop.  Allen has been bad this preseason but he is a rookie and needs time to get acclimated to the NFL.  Jackson would probably cost more then the vet minimum and would take up reps that should go to Allen.  To be honest, I would rather have Magee take a few carries early on instead of Jackson until Taliaferro comes back.

Agreed, I definitely believe rookies need playing time and chance to improve and wouldnt want Jackson for much more than a vet minimum.

Buck Allen hasn't been as bad as some of you are suggesting. It's like people only see that last fumble play and forget everything else. He obviously needs to work and learn more but he shows nice patience and burst and can catch passes.

A big part of Buck's struggles can be attributed to our awful backup o-linemen. LT deserves a chance to be a true backup for Forsett and we need Buck to develop.

On the subject broached regarding Jennings, I will say that while he wasn't as old when he came here, the Chicago CB we signed some years back came from the same system (zone) and he did fantastic here and was probably our best CB at coming away with turnovers.

Graham was great at that while here. He worked out really well for us. It's possible Jennings could be the same, or he could simply be done. I'd take a chance.

Does Vic Fangio run a different defensive scheme than Dean Pees? If not then other than just motivation it doesn't seem like Jennings would be more productive here.

I'd think he'd likely find a much larger role elsewhere, though.  Dallas is reeling with the loss of Scandrick, and they have Marinelli who should be very familiar with Jennings from his time in Chicago.  Many are making that sound like a no-brainer.  Obviously not a sure thing, but playing time can be found elsewhere.

I hear that, and think there are definitely better fits... but playing time may not be the only thing on his mind at this point. Real opportunity to win a ring might be important too. Not saying we're the best chance at that, but we provide a better than most chance.

Cowboys I think come back down to earth without Murray. and doubt that defense can replicate their performance from last year with the lack of talent.

They wouldn't cut their 4th round pick unless he was absolutely abysmal.

we cut John Simon last year and he wasn't abysmal, he was just buried on the depth chart in our most talented position group, the bills have a lot of secondary talent.

I'd say that's wishful thinking.  Very few guys actually take less money or smaller roles just to get a ring.  Many say they will and never actually do.

Who knows with Webb at this point, I wouldn't count on him with his injury history and level of play the last 2 years. When Webb was injured in 2012 during the SB run we had Corey Graham playing opposite Jimmy. Perhaps Jennings could give us a similar duo. Jimmy covers the big physical WR's, Jennings covers the smaller shiftier WR's.

Actually Cary Williams was our starting corner on the right side.

This is true, but it still seemed like LT (before the injury) and Magee did better behind that line than Allen.

If Webb gets injured again this year, do we cut him? What are his cap hits?

Lets not talk about it...

Ah true how the heck did I forget about Cary, what a brain fart. Graham also came from the Bears scheme which is why he was on my mind. For some reason I feel like Jennings is going to the Cowboys, Ozzie will probably be "interested" and Jerry Jones will probably send him a Ferrari, buy his mom a house, give his son a college fund, and fly him to Dallas on a private plane.

Yes, Allen sucks because he played behind a weak OL that couldn't block a piece of paper going against a better DL that could actually do some damage. I like Magee as well, but to simply suggest that he's better than Allen because he went against some weak 3rd string players while Allen went against the 2nd & 3rd strings is a bit of a stretch. I recall Lorenzo having his own mixed bag last year and now people are riding his train. Give the guy (Allen) a break since he's a rookie. The guy has to learn. He could be a wasted pick or maybe he's not. It's early to say either way, honestly.

denial is a ugly thing...

Its not denial, I can assure you.

No one on this site is a bigger Webb fan than myself ( with good and legit reasons I believe).

I think highly of the guy and want the best for him.  I want him to stay in Baltimore for his career.  I want him to retire on his own as a RAVEN.

All that said, I am not wearing purple Webb glasses.  I know it SEEMS his best days are behind him. Maybe he will return to the great corner he once was, maybe he won't.   I can tell you what I would prefer to see.

Pretty much, thought Allen needed to develop a bit anyways as running behind the USC O-line last year didn't look too bad. Still a talented guy, just gotta let the coaches do their jobs.

Melvin White was cut this morning by the Panthers.  Not a big name by any means but I wouldn't mind if we brought him in for the 4th preseason game and gave him a look.  He is big 6' 1'' 205 lbs and has starting experience.  He got burned a lot last year but that could have been scheme related and other factors.  He is worth a look

This reminds me to the SSS presser after the Panthers game when he shredded their entire backfield. Think we are better with our guys.

I agree that since he is a rookie he deserves some slack. Watching the film you would probably assume that McGee was drafted and that buck Allen was the UFA.

i'm a little surprised that The Ravens have interest in him.

I'm not.  I got the feeling that they weren't exactly comfortable with Buck as the prime backup just yet.

My feelings are hurt that he chose the Seahawks over us!

Could be a blessing in disguise and would've taken away reps from Buck Allen. I'm a big believer in Allen, I think out of all the underwhelming preseason performers Buck is in for the biggest turn around. The one thing that I see in him that I like a lot is his vision and the way he uses jump cuts similar to Arian Foster to hit the hole and get vertical. Honestly a lot of his runs have been behind a patch work OL where there isn't a hole for him to even hit. People say Magee has played better with the same OL but Magee is a hard nosed SEC back who can run himself into traffic and come out of it better than Buck on those types of plays. Wait until Buck get's some actual holes to hit week 1 when the starting OL is in there. I think he will give Zo a run for his money as the #2 by the time he's back, I really do.

I'm more concerned with the secondary as far as adding FA's. For once... I'm really not too worried about the offense. I worry about KO and Perriman's health but that's about it.

- Tim Jennings visiting Bucs per Schefter.

Of course Lovie was all over that. I guess Jennings was cool with the ring he already got in Indy, I thought FOR SURE Cowboys or Packers, possibly us. Move makes a lot of sense for the Bucs, not much sense for Jennings outside of re-uniting with Lovie and the scheme fit. Reminder that not every player is obsessed with winning, shock to us fans, I know.

Patriots trade conditional pick for WR/Return Specialist Jalen Saunders from the Saints

C'mon Ozzie, it's quiet.... too quiet.

That's understandable I just didn't think The Ravens would be willing to run with 5 running backs because Taliferro injury isn't season ending. If they don't trust Buck Allen then they really have no choice but to  find a veteran running back. I guess if The Ravens were really interested in a veteran running back they could give Steven Jackson a call. I was saying on another site that he's pretty similar to Fred Jackson but younger and he graded out pretty well as a pass blocker.

I don't think we'd go with 5.  I think it'd be at the expense of Magee, who I'm sure we'd like to have on the practice squad.
