Free Agency Targets

I read that the Bears want to play more man to man coverage and Jennings is a zone guy, but I think a lot of teams will be interested and his price will be be rather expensive, but IMHO it would probably be worth a phone call to inquire.

He'd be better than Asa Jackson and some of the other less than mediocre corners we got.

I actually saw Jackson make a couple plays.

He returned that kick that almost got points and he made a nice play on a pass that forced the ball out, unfortunately into waiting Skin arms.

The punt he should have fair caught.

That said, I know Jennings and if he's healthy I vote yes.  He won't wow you but at least he looks for the ball. He's had years where he's come up with quite a few.

Personally think I'd be all over Jennings. I think he could be a good fit. He was still playing well last year despite a putrid D around him. I haven't seen him this year but it could be a big ad. Putting him in this D could benefit him and us. He's always been big at making plays and creating turnovers.

Jennings himself said Bears were going younger. A move that makes sense. If anything it's a positive sign that their fans are outraged

Jennings was pretty bad last year and quarterbacks had 100+ quarterback rating throwing in his direction..I seen bears fan say he look like he had slowed down but he also just wasn't a good fit for their man/press coverage scheme.

Yeah, that secondary was in shambles for most of last season but a drop off in plays he made compared to previous few years was huge - 0 INTs and only 7 pass breakups after 4+13 in 2013 and 9+21 in 2012.

Sammy Seanster, Ray Drew, Derrick Lott released. Also some guy called Tandon Doss.

Wouldn't be surprised if we look into Seamster, got him last year as an UDFA before he was snatched off our PS by Miami. Lott is a DL with some onteresting traits to develop as well.

Dean Pees plays a lot of zone... Something Jennings is good at. It's honestly a kind've ideal fit here. He's pretty bad vs bigger and stronger WRs, but overall he's been good past few seasons. I will clamor for this, never can have too many good corners.

I think he's been trying to run more man recently. The problem last year was injuries.

Yup. Which is worriesome but we let Brandon Flowers get away last year. Hope we don't make the same mistake now. This guy next to Jimmy with Arrington in the slot... Wow. Suddenly our CB group possibly becomes good.

One thing him and peanut Tillman did was cause turnovers. That was supposedly a main focus in training camp this year. I'm definitely signing on with this one.

i take it the melvin hype train stopped dead in its tracks?

jennings used to be a quality corner but he did slow down and i think he has not been the same since he got injured though.

depending on how much he got left we could give him a shot.

The kick return had me excited, but I think his cb play was hot and cold.

Like you said, he had the play where it bounced to the skins for a TD. That's bad luck, but he also whiffed on go ahead tackles.

At another point he made a good break up in the end zone, only to give up an easy TD on the very next play.

He really needs to play more consistently, but his return ability might be what separates him from Vaughn and Pointer.

Last year Jennings was pretty good against the run. I think he was 24 best CB according to PFF. Thats really not bad. Being a zone CB he's not as fast as he was but still very run run support and good vet. If healthy, could help if the price is right.

Looks like missed tackles from our CBs has been a huge problems in recent years.

Fred Jackson anyone?

I'd guess he'll find more work elsewhere.  He'd likely be taking a backseat when Taliaferro is back.

I would take Fred over Taliaferro.   Fred is a bruiser and would be a great compliment to nimble Forsett.  Taliaferro hasn't proved anyone anything past 2 years except run into trouble and guarantee us he will have a setback.

On the subject broached regarding Jennings, I will say that while he wasn't as old when he came here, the Chicago CB we signed some years back came from the same system (zone) and he did fantastic here and was probably our best CB at coming away with turnovers.

Graham was great at that while here. He worked out really well for us. It's possible Jennings could be the same, or he could simply be done. I'd take a chance.

would not hurt to bring him in and see what he got left.

if we are fast he could suit up for the final pre season game.

You have to ask yourself why they released him in the first place. You just don't release a quality CB at this point in the year.

It was probably a favor to him. So, he could land himself another job.

I wouldn't mind giving Ross cockrell a look, bills 4th rounder a year ago, didn't have much of a chance with the bills with Rex coming in.

No On fjax, dude still has some legs left and could go help a lot of teams more than us, forset gives us a great veteran preference. Dallas, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland, even new England

They wouldn't cut their 4th round pick unless he was absolutely abysmal.

Have you seen Buck Allen in the pre-season t? He has been very underwhelming, jackson would back up Forsett, adding in the fact that Lorenzo is injured.
