Free Agency Targets

It wouldn't be an instant fix. Our secondary would be as bad or worse next year if we realized solely on rookies to fix the holes.

No one said solely. They are getting Jimmy back and maybe some others Jackson a nickel back whatever he is. The fact is they passed in the draft last year and it wont happen again this year.

Still feel Revis is a pipe dream, but if the Pats want his services for 2015 they'll either need to pony up his $20M option or work him a long-term deal.  The Pats are very pragmatic not getting sold on big names, and they have a ton of cap invested in Brady, Gronk, Nincovch, Wilfork Mayo, Solder, Vollmer, etc.  They're at $147+ for 2015 which is about $7M over the projected.

Anyone want to see the Ravens spend some money on bringing him here?  At 29, a long-term deal will a lower the annual cap hit.  Imagine Revis and Smith in the same defensive backfield.

Sterling Moore is an option. The Cowboys are cap strapped and can't resign anyone. I think he'd be a good addition.

Another guy I like is Mike Wallace. He's had to deal with a seriously awful O-Line, inconsistent QB play and bland coaching. I feel like Miami may cut the bait with Wallace soon and I wouldn't mind if we get him, he'd be a star with us, I don't know the cap #'s, but it would be a great fit.

I think Wallace would ask for a price too high for our cap space. There's probably cheaper options at WR out there that could still be a benefit to the offense

The only free agent I want is McPhee lol. He's only going to get better. Our defense will be young and dominant for a while with him. Also, mccourty would be great to pair up with hill

I'm not sure if Wallace will ask for a high price, his past two years in Miami have been pure disappointments and who on earth is really going to bid high on Wallace after his past three years? I think he'll be at reasonable asking price given by the open market, but his contract is a problem. I'd def. think Wallace would be a great fit if Torrey leaves in F.A. and would become a definite possibility.

I didn't go digging into all the #s but no wonder why Miami wants to release him, his cap hit was $17M with $27M in dead money, in 2015 it will be a cap hit of $12M and $6M in dead money, so cutting him is a no-brainer for them. I don't know if we'll do it, just seems like an extreme risk-Medium reward, so I don't see it happening.

It may not be a real position of need, but I'd take a look at Calgary center Brett Jones. He's was the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie in 2013, and in 2014 won the award for the Most Outstanding Lineman. He's only 23 years old, and at 6ft 2in, 310lbs, is the ideal size for an NFL interior lineman.

Jones was calling the blocking assignments for a Calgary team which allowed the fewest sacks and let the league in rushing in 2014. He may have flown under the radar a bit due to playing college football in Canada at Regina, but he's considered by many to be the top free agent in Canada, and now that he is free to speak to NFL teams, I'd be disappointed if we didn't consider him.

Anyone who thinks we go after Revis is insane.  No way we will pay the asking price that he could get anywhere else, not to mention the pats might lock him up for the future.  But no thanks.  Here is a good list of the FA available, some very interesting players out there.

Vernon Davis. But I don't know what kind of $$$ he's looking for.  Also, hope we get a chance at Bryon Maxwell but rumors are the Eagles are gunning for him

yeah, they may drop Cary Williams, seems he never lived up to billing after leaving.

That's kind of what I thought. I wouldn't mind Cary, just not as a #2, he's best as a nickle.

Its like Kubiaks running system, its not the back, its the system the back runs. For all the DC's we run through, they all don't become HCs for nothing right???

I cant tell if your agreeing or not with me lol.

Sidenote, i was talking to a buddy of mine about a week ago about the possibility of Brandon Marshall getting cut (just a hunch i had) by the bears and him following trestman here.  Then i read this today:

"ESPN Chicago's Michael C. Wright writes that "nobody knows" whether Brandon Marshall will be back with the Bears in 2015.

The Bears signed Marshall to a new four-year, $39 million deal last May, but the regime that handed him that extension is gone. Marshall is still a fine player and worth the money, but there's some question whether he'll be able to coexist with Chicago's new staff. OC Adam Gase was the Broncos' WRs coach when Mike Shanahan banished Marshall from Denver. Marshall also had a 2014 falling out with Jay Cutler. Per the website OverTheCap.com, the Bears could save $3.95 million in cap space by cutting Marshall this offseason."

I know that this is such a huge longshot considering the money marshall would want, but just thought it was funny that i was just talking about the possibility recently.

Cap savings on Wallace is only $2.5M in 2015, with $9.6M in dead money.

I'm guessing you were using Spotrac for your initial analysis, but that cite is wrong in regards to Wallace's cap amount. Of his $9.85M salary for 2015, $3M of that is guaranteed.

I don't expect the Dolphins to release him this offseason, though its possible.

That would be the best possible outcome of the first two rounds. Ravens fans and the front office would be jumping for joy of they got both of those guys. Though if Orchard is gone, there are some other OLBs in the range of being picked there. Someone like Kikaha, or Mauldin (who's stock seems to be on the rise).

Marshall would be the type of big size WR we need just not sure if we would pull the trigger. To Marshall I would not see why it would not be attractive to him, were on the cusp of another title and Joe has a rocket arm, hope it happens.

If we bolster any spot on our roster significantly in free agency it has to be CB.

We scored plenty against NE, I don't feel like the WR market has anything major for us this year besides resigning Torrey. Guys like Dez, Maclin, and Demaryius will get massive deals with their teams.. Denarius Moore does seem like a possible bargain signing for us though. The kid is plenty talented and hasn't been able to show much playing in Oakland. I think he could do damage in our offense. Eddie Royal is also an interesting option if there is a deal to be had.

My ideal signing would be Chris Culliver or Antonio Cromartie.. I don't think we have a shot at Maxwell. With Jimmy, Webb, Asa coming back healthy and one of those CB signings I think our defense is absolutely scary. We have to build depth at CB and brace for possible injuries next year, it really derailed our SB run this year. I think we should go offense early in the draft and defense for our "big" free agent signing and we'll be in really good shape.

I agree with our WR corps as well. I would love Brandon Flowers. I think that he would be an amazing addition. I'm hopeful about Webb but not optimistic. I'm not sure how he'll feel about restructuring but I think that he would have to based on injury, age, and overall play. But with Jimmy, Asa, Flowers, and Melvin getting more experience, we would be good, as well as drafting a CB late or seeing how Ross develops, coaches were optimistic about him.

Yeah, just found out, you're right if anyone, they're still uncommitted to Wallace, IMO if anyone could be cut, it might very well be Hartline who fell out of the playbook.

Of course it would be very attractive to Marshall, but money almost always wins.  If we could let torrey go and get marshal for around 7 a year, that would be fantastic, but i highly doubt he will take less than 10

Sure money is a big thing but Marshall is 30, his replacement is already there in Jeffery, and he was jettisoned before from Devner for his attitude and now may be on the ways out anyway due to identical reasons. Due to potential character concerns and age, and the fact were close to another title, we may be able to get him in for 8.5(with incentives of course).

A young CB like Ladarius Gunter or (hopefully) Rollins would soften the blow if Webb wasnt an option in 2015.

To my understanding Marshall has mature alot since his Denver Broncos days. He hasn't really been  as much of a character concern  as has  been in the past. If he still has the same attitude problems why would that be a good thing for our team?

that would help lower his market price of course. That and the fact Ravens are much better at controlling players with off the field issues(this year aside of course).....

We should try to get younger. That said cb- cary williams, jonathan joseph, or leon hall would be my picks.  Also get a free safety somehow.  We should fix all our holes through free agency and then get the best player available.
