Ravens Pre-Draft Press Conference

He can't run routes, doesn't use his height, average hands, and he pushed his girlfriend down a flight of stairs aftee breaking into someone else's home. Why do you want this guy?

im not sure we watched the same guy, looks like he uses his height and has good hands to me. He was never convicted of pushing his GF down a flight of stairs. Everyone deserves a 2nd shot and our FO/ Coaching staff does a good job with handling players with character concerns. Edit i was wrong, he was never charged with pushing his GF. i thought this is america where your innocent until proven guilty

Hill. Hopefully longer than one year.  2-3mil maybe

Will Hill accepted the offer?

He's already part of the 65 that Ozzie was referring to (they have 65 guys presently on the roster), so it wouldn't be a guy like Hill or Tucker, etc, IMO.

Based on the way he said it, I would think it would be adding a new player, ie not a player not presently on the roster.

Thinking that Miles is the most likely one.

Yeah, I think it's Miles.

Heard nothing spectacular.

Exactly.

IMO, there's no way that Ozzie is giving up a possible comp pick to sign any of the remaining FAs that are out there right now.

After the draft and after May 12th (when comp picks no longer apply), then I think we'll see him sign a few vets to fill some holes.

It's May? I thought it was June. That's awesome!

There have been reports that the NFL has moved the June 1 deadline up to May 12th, but, with that said, I've seen nothing official from the NFL on that yet.

Please don't turn this into another thread talking about potential draft picks. We have an entire forum for that.

...It's a pre-draft press conference thread, what do you expect people to talk about? lol. Potential draft picks was the main focus of nearly the entire press conference that we are discussing.

Idea being talking about specific players and opinions about player without relation to the ravens

Pretty clear there

I'm thinking that the 'new' signing could be a FA TE. Very weak TE draft class and our FO has expressed a lot of interest in getting an available FA at the right price (Housler meeting with Browns today). There is a 'high' market demand for TEs, because of the draft class. It wouldn't surprise me if we're getting close to signing one.

That previous year's transcript was a very interesting read.  No pro bowl players and have you lost faith in Alabama - what does Ozzie go out and do, draft a pro bowl player from Alabama.

Well, apparently the "66th" player we're about to add is a guy who was on the team last year, so it's a re-signing and not a signing. That's per Ozzie Newsome on a video on this very website.

And he ends up being a Pro Bowler.

Correction it wasn't his girl friend he pushed down the stairs it was his girl friend friend he pushed down the stairs. I understand why people would like DGB because he has alot upside . I wouldn't neccessarily say he can't run routes but just really say his route running isn't polished but like I said it's his upside why people like him so much.

The Ravens must be intrigued with his upside as well because they bought him in for a interview but it's up to The Ravens to figure out if DGB upside out weighs his dark past. It be difficult for them to draft him though in my opinion.

I think Oz would sign a FA TE (if it's the price) before the draft. That's the only position right now that he would give-up a comp pick on if necessary.

People were talking about DGB who absolutely does have relation to the Ravens. Ozzie and Eric were asked specifically about him in this press conference and they said he was brought in for an interview. Then the aspect of his domestic violence accusation came up because it is extremely relevant to the Ravens at this point in time.

Sometimes you just need to let the conversation flow, people aren't even going off topic.. everything that was being discussed was relevant to this press conference.

Ozzie said at the end of the press conference that it was a re-signing, so that would exclude a TE unless it was Billy Bajema or something. Unless Owen Daniels gave Elway the bird and didn't actually sign the contract, lol.

Well, who could blame him if that happened.

I'm glad that was cleared-up. Some posted something entirely different (possible 'new' signing). In that case, the priority would have been a TE not receiver as our FO has addressed several times before.

Thanks for the clear-up.

Maybe a few years ago, it really doesn't matter who he pushed as long s it was a woman. The front office doesn't feel like deeling with the media.

It's gotta be Miles for the re-signing.  I wouldn't touch any of the other guys, except for maybe Gorrer.

Nope, media and public opinion doesn't care if your guilty or not. If we draft DGB you'll see nothing but "Ravens draft abuser" for a year. The front office know this, the only way they'd draft him is if he showed really good stuff.

I was thinking Gorrer possibly too, but he blew out his knee in Dec, so I doubt they'd sign him until he's healthy and can show he's good to go.

In the end, none of these guys are very likely to make the team nor are they going to cost much against the Cap, so it's really not much of a big deal.

I just don't want it to be Reid, even if he is (highly) unlikely to make the team.  I'm done with an OL who only seems to show physical aggression when drunk and in a bar!

If it's Miles then he's very likely to make the team since he's a pretty solid special teamer. Harbaugh values special team alot and Miles did show some good things on defense as well

I found the mentioning of Steven Means....."we have a young pass rusher...",interesting.

I'm glad we are not summarily ruling out Green-Beckham. I would hate to think we would pass on a guy simply because of what someone else might think of the Ravens drafting him.

Yeah, I actually like what I read about Means. He has some real potential as an OLB.
