ALSKAN RAVEN FAN

How lucky are we?

24 posts in this topic

I just wanted to point out that we Ravens fans are very lucky to have an owner and front office like we do. Steve Bisciotti is a class act and he definitly wants to win. Then you have to look at Ozzie  he knows what he is doing and knows how to put together a team that can compete year in and year out. All the people in the front offices all the way down to the coaching staff. . We as fans are very lucky.

Steve Bisciotti does not seem to put his nose where it does not belong until it belongs there. You see some of the owners and how they hire someone to do a job then never let that person do the job they were hired for and that person is the scape-goat when the team does not win. Steve listens to the guys under him and lets them do their job. When its time to reward a player who has proven himself and played like a Raven he never shys away from opening his wallet.

Ozzie and the front offices they just build and not just the foundation the build depth mostly through the draft. Even when Ozzie decides to retire we have a very cappable guy to take ove in Eric Decosta. Who has learned under Ozzie.

Coaches Heck we have a great bunch of coaches in Harbs and his staff. So good that other teams love to pick guys from our team to fill their vacant coaching positions.

WE RAVENS FANS ARE TRULY LUCKY.....From our owner down to our coaches the Ravens orginization is like a second family and thats what these guys have forged in Baltimore....

"Blessed" is how I would characterize it more than luck! You can perhaps get lucky with an owner, a GM, a HC or the team. But when you are lucky in all aspects, then you are "blessed"!

Had this thought the other day. I can't imagine being a fan of a team with a crap FO. A few incidents aside that I will not rehash, I am proud of the way this team handles its business. Great owner, great GM, and great HC.

funny how you guys create and post in threads like this, but when the season starts it all goes straight out the window.

To be far to the OP of this thread, he stays optimistic about the team even when things seem to go sour.  Not all of us are doom and gloom fans.

Thank you for your post.  I dont give that person a second thought. They dont know me and I am pretty sure they dont know you personally either.

great post !!!!

Thank you. Your picture is a testement to this thread and prove eveything people are saying on it. Ravens have only been in this league for a short time. But in that span we already have multipe Super Bowls and  multiple hall-of-famers both present and future both the guys in your picture 52 and 20 are future hall of famers. Just goes to show us how BLESSED  we are.

with the way alot of fans are acting id say we are spoiled TBH.

6 out 7 seasons been to the play offs with that 1 missing the play offs closely with an 8-8 mark.

we havent had a losing season in 7 years.

we played in 3 afc championship games and 1 SB winning it and yet people keep losing faith in the FO lol.

i mean other then the pats aint no other team who has done it better.

i asked the question about more television coverage during the offseason. in essence Bisciotti said if people would watch then the shows would run during the offseason. i can't imagine a ravens show in teh off season wouldn;t get better ratings then some of the other filler sports on TV after football and before baseball season. he and Cass should know so i guess there wouldn't be enough viewership.

I watch all the time on the app. I love videos that aren't just mailbags of dicussions we've had tenfold but they've dried up in the offseason.

I don't view it as being "lucky" to be a Ravens fan man.  But, I will concur that Bisciotti is one cool cat! B)

The patriots have a qb and a coach who can win regardless, with a FO that is lackluster and those deficiencies have been masked by the aforementioned. The steelers had a good defensive coordinator who made greatness out of decent players with 1 cornerstone player, and they struck gold with a qb who made plays regardless of e bad talent around them. These teams are lucky, we are not, we are well run because we masterfully maneuver the offseason better than any team in the league and stay well balanced and well maintained with good motivated players

Agree with Alaska's positive feelings about how this organization is run top to bottom....but think the responses have nailed down that it's far beyond luck which has kept the Ravens contenders year to year. I think Steve has the vision to see how important each component is within the  organization and he appears to respect the skills and knowledge of his FO team to know and trust their expertise enough to let them do their jobs. We are also blessed that our owner is not driven by an over blown ego to come behind and foolishly screw everything up. My initial thought was also that overall, we Ravens fans are downright spoiled.... and being spoiled makes me very happy when it comes to being a football fan.

We're VERY lucky. I don't know if people heard Bisciotti state that he thought about selling the team after the rice debacle. So glad he didn't, who knows what the team would be like if that happened.

I think honestly the market for ravens is small. Ravens team like Texans and like ours are teams squeezed between mega franchises with a huge market. Thankfully both org has a sizable talent @FO

If we didn't have the right owner and guys to run this organization, this market would collapse very quickly.

Biscotti must stay. He is the only owner that will put his expenses top of revenue to drive success.

I think it's an expression on how he felt embarrassed with that incident; however, for him mentioning the word selling the team is just heart broken, scary to deal with.......

When looking at other teams it's clear that not very many have as good of a system as we do. I mean since Harbaugh had become head coach we missed the playoffs once. Even that year we were only a game or two away from being in. The staff in Baltimore is amazing and few teams can enjoy the benefits of quality players either returning, being aquired during free agency, or in the draft during the offseason like the Ravens. Just look at draft picks alone. How many teams live with regret (harsh word) with who they pick in the draft. Look at the Browns past draft picks (primarily with quarterbacks) or the decline of the Steelers (although still a tough team but how many years in a row did they playoffs? This year was the first time since Tebow was with the Broncos) or even out of conference teams such as the Raiders or the Saints (how many first round running back  busts have they had?). I'm going to be bold and say that the Ravens are one of, if not the, best team in the leage at making sure the right players stay and making sure that positions that need to be filled are filled with quality players, not just a body to fill the position.
