Um....okay. smh

A lot of vet QBs are not on board with that kinna stuff. They think its beneath them. But Schaub isn't only on board with it but is interested in coaching after retirement. Of course when I found that out it changes the signing. Doesn't change that Wenning could actually outperform him in preseason. However Schaub is going to earn his $$ in practices and the classroom. He will practically be an extra coordinator/QB in practices. Nobody knew he would help with all that. Many vets wanna play and will help minimally and take it as an insult.

Um....okay. smh

Yeah, if the shirtless wonder had ANY credibility left, he certainly lost it here.

Advice - When you hear some Ravens news, take 5 minutes relax and soak it up. Don't instantly blast the move and pretend you know more than the PROFESSIONALS. And of course, certainly don't retract your opinion in a matter of a few hours. Hilarious!!!

He didnt say "um okay" to your thoughts on Schaub wanting to coach (or whatever you said in that block of text). It was how you did a 180 on your thoughts of the signing.

Another brilliant move by Ozzie. $3mil more on a useless player. He has been terrible and benched by everybody who signed this scrub thinking he had some good play. His arm is the weakest. Is this what they meant by proactive in free agency?? I would bet $$ that Wenning outplays him in preseason!! Wasted $$ like this is why the team could not sign anybody in free agency to help this team!! Yeah Ozzie really had something up his sleeve. If they don't bank this draft the Superbowl is very unlikely. I actually thought they would sign a player or 2 that would actually help the team. But Ozzie's at it again. More useless cap $$ If this team struggles Biscotti is going to lose more of his patience. The great Ozzie can't find anything better to do with cap $$. Can't wait to see this loser play in preseason and get beat out by Wenning. Then everybody will see it is another terrible decision!!

Wow...Pirate woke up on the wrong side of the bed!  : )

doesn't change the signing, just changes your opinion of the signing - and lots of folks on here were commenting about his coaching abilities from the minute it was announced.

maybe folks should do a little more investigating before spouting off diatribes of criticism, especially those complaining about the $ (who don't understand the details), or are saying the signing makes no sense.

Is everybody forgetting how Kubiak got his start? He was a backup QB for years before he became an OC.

Not to mention (outside of Sr), we've got a very young receiver corps learning a new system, and Torrey wasn't the only one who looked totally lost out there at times. AND if we bring in a FA vet, or a rookie in the draft, the learning curve will be steep.

This is an AWESOME signing, for his coaching abilities in TC alone.

I said I liked the move before it happened and still do, but I do want to see the contract details first. That initial report of $3M/year is stupid, but if it's a 1/1/1, then it's fine. He'll hopefully never make a third of that money. If we signed him for 2/year, that's not bad at all. He does help maintain continuity and he knows the system and can help bring the young guys along, I suppose.

At least I'm comfortable and confident enough to say I'm wrong. Your right I should have taken a minute. But what else was I to think he made it very clear just last year he wanted to start. When a QB wants to start they aren't usually keen on mentoring!! He must have decided he liked it working with Carr. BTW Houslers agent has broken off talks with other teams. If he helps get Rob Housler up to speed he double earned that $$.

A lot of fans don't realize when a QB wants to play, how much of an insult they take it when asked to mentor. Yeah Kubiak, I get how he got into coaching. But Kubiak wasn't a pro bowl starter. I'm very happy Schaub will embrace mentoring. :)

Where do you get your info? By info, I'm talking about Schaub wanting to be a coach, his coordinating desire, Housler breaking off talks with teams, etc? Not that I disbelieve you. I would like to read these reports. Thanks a lot!

The more I follow the way Oz and the crew operate - the more I appreciate it. No panic, no nonsense and cool as the otherside of the pillow is why they've led the way year in and year out.. Tru hit it did on: This dude has 7 years in a Kubiak system (a system that we're staying close to this season) and is the right player at the right price. Welcome to the Black and Purple Mark and Matt. :baltimore-ravens:

In Oz I still trust.

Nobody ever said coach. But let me ask you this; who do you think has a better knowledge of Kubiac's (our) system? Trestmen, Morningweig, and Flacco who have exactly 1 years worth of experience in this system combined, or a QB who played in it for 7 years and went to 2 PBs in it? Why do you think we brought in Forsett and Daniels last year?

half of this thread has been people posting about how much schaub will "help the system" because he "knows the system" and he will "coach the system". hes getting paid to stand around and hold a clipboard. the only relevance he'll have with this "system" is if (knock on wood) flacco does down. even then, how confident how are you with the guy? he got cut from the raiders in favor of derek carr. LOL. to answer your first question, I have more faith in trestman and morningweig than matt schaub, if you would rather have matt schuab preaching knowledge to Joe then wow, no wonder you dont work for the NFL.

I think he'll help with the younger guys more than anything. He's similar to Joe in some ways and that'll certainly help second string WR and TE as well as OL, since these are the guys with whom he'll primarily interact.

sure, he'll help with the 2nd and 3rd stringers, im not denying that. but to go as far as saying he'll help coach the system, thats just LOL.

"Even if Schaub isn't playing, his knowledge of the offense allows him to be more involved than a typical backup quarterback. Flacco had one year in Kubiak's offense, but with him now gone, Flacco can lean on Schaub as he continues to grow within that offense.

“Football is football, but at the same time there are certain things within certain offenses that from year to year you just pick up and grow from,” Schaub said. “I'm going to be a resource for Joe. I'm going to be there to push him, to help him continue to grow and develop.”"

“It’s a great fit for me as far as the offense is concerned, as far as the type of player Joe is and how we’ll mesh in the QB room. I feel like we’re going to have one of the best rooms in football. We’re going to grow, we’re going to compete, we’re going to help each other to get better. Ultimately, that will lead to wins on the field for this team.”
