My apologies Mr. Castillo.

Wanted to re-visit this and note how well KO, Jensen, Urschel, and Wagner have done. These four guys have spent their entire careers with Castillo, and look how well they're playing. Jensen has been the highest rated LG in the league for the past two weeks according to PFF. I know some of you hate PFF because their ratings contradict your narratives, but Jensen has been balling out. KO has moved from LG to LT - a challenging move - and he's doing great. Urschel has done better each game, and Wagner is getting back to his peak, where he was last season.

But we should still fire Castillo, right? He's only Harbaugh's buddy. It's not like he actually knows how to develop young linemen.

A foolish move to fire him, don't know why people would advocate it.  He's a noted Oline coach in the league with a history of success.  His first year here was a bit of a poor year but I'd chalk that up to trying to transition a man blocking scheme to an entirely zone blocking scheme and also just exactly what Moeller was doing with Castillo.  Too many cooks in the kitchen type thing.  Im still trying to figure out why Reid moved Castillo to DC in Philly...

no point getting smarky. Not everyone is Right. You even said you don't think ko would do well at left tackle and didn't have the feet for it. He seems to be doing well to this untrained eye.

Everyone is wrong some of the time and of course castillo will get most of the blame when in his first year we had a horrendous oline and every year since we've changed offensive coordinator. Until there is some stability and then improvement no one will forget that 2013? Year... someone needs blamed and he was the easy target and the improvements could be attributed to new coordinators implementing their own wrinkles just as easily as you attribute it to castillo.

Either way, I don't have a clue...

I said I wasn't sure how he would do at left tackle. I said his footwork made me hesitant about his ability there, but I thought he had the athleticism and size to make it work. I never outright said it would be a bad move, at least while sober. And after I saw him there, I said he had potential to be a long term LT.

And, when a position group plays well, when I see development in that position group, when I see development at an individual level (see Jensen) I will absolutely credit the position coach, not the coordinator. A coordinator can mask deficiencies and play to the strength of the line, but I'm seeing solid play in a lot of different scenarios. We're run blocking well (at least now we are). We're blocking well on short drops, deep drops, and roll outs. To my eye, the offensive line looks good because they're good, not directly because of Trestman. When you're top five in fewest sacks allowed with the second most passing attempts, the OL and the OL coach are doing something right.

Guess I was wrong.
