Bernard Pierce arrested and released

Could we stick to discussing Pierce in this thread, please? If you want to compare/contrast RBs, then there's probably a thread for that. If not, make one.

Thank you.

I don't think The Ravens should stop giving players second chances . This is Pierce first incident with the law  and I think The Ravens should atleast consider that.

He was already on the way out anyways, this just seals it early.

Disappointed, but not sure I would cut him but he needs to be all about football from this day forward.

Remember when everyone wanted us to trade/cut Ray Rice so Bernard Pierce could take over and dominate the league?

LOL

Damn bernard take an uber?

If I was Ozzie I would make everyone sign a damn contract to have there own chauffeur to drive them on any drunken escapades they might have. Don't understand why professional athletes don't just hire a driver and not take a chance on an accident or getting pulled over.

The NFLPA has a program free of charge for all players where they can call up and get a ride anywhere, anytime.

DUI's are bad and he could've seriously injured himself as well as someone else, but why does this even matter from a football standpoint? Why is a player getting a DUI even news?According to statistics on MAAD,300,000 people drive under the influence everyday and again I'll admit that's a bad thing to do,but I doubt it would be relevant at any of their work places if they were to get pulled over for it.Why in the world is it relevant when it's an NFL player? If an NBA or MLB player was busted for a DUI it would be such a non story that we'd never even know.

Because they are public figures who represent the NFL 100% of the time while they are playing for them.

While most employers would care if you got a DUI, they wouldn't necessarily always find out about it, because the average person isn't a public figure who's entire life is out in front for the media to follow.

Same thing applies for many crimes that professional athletes or any other public figure commit. A lot of us like to pretend like public figures get "preferential treatment" in the legal system, which you could argue they do, except that comes with the caveat of the extremely non-preferential treatment that they get from the public.

If I get a DUI, I'm probably treated harsher by the legal system, but then again, very few people on the planet will ever know about it, potentially including my employer. When Bernard Pierce does it, he likely won't face much punishment (if any) from the legal system, yet thousands and thousands of people know about it, and blog sites and articles are written about it, as it is a headline on ESPN. And his employer certainly cares, and will likely issue punishment that exceeds the legal ramifications.

I would lose my job and my wife would lose her job as well if she got one...

Also, it's breaking the law...shows reckless behavior.

True, but that also depends on your personal employment situation.

There's no shortage of people who's employers would never even find out they got a DUI, or frankly, wouldn't care if they did get one.

Pierce Charged With DUI, Latest Raven arrest.

First headline I saw when I got on ESPN. Couldn't help but laugh and shake my head. Apparently the Ravens organization and their fans are a bunch of criminals and criminal supporters.... Don't you guys just love the media.

I think he's gone - we have some depth at the position plus, as talent as he's shown himself down in the redzone, he's injured a lot and hasn't really developed into the impact player I think the FO felt he could be when he was drafted.

You're right.Alot of people would lose their jobs.I haven't been pulled over for a DUI before so I didn't realise you were automatically arrested when I wrote that.

I'm all for the Ravens with this no tolerance policy....but their hands were forced with the Ray Rice incident. And the other players weren't good enough for anyone to care if they got cut..what happens when a GOOD player hits a speed bump...will they be so quick to release them?

Probably suspend him...

Harbaugh warned the whole team after the season that they will be more strict about off field behavior. Apparently Pierce didn't get the memo.

DUI's aren't to be taken lightly.  I felt bad for Deonte Thompson's arrest.  That wouldn't even be illegal anymore in DC or in some states, but you know if someone is arrested it's the worst.  He'll end up somewhere

He didn't deserve to be cut. Just because we had a bunch of silly arrests last year.

There were read the riot act and were told what would happen. I'd say he deserves it.
