Joe Montana Football 16

9 posts in this topic

There is going to be a new football game out this year that well according to Joe on Twitter, will be more than a roster update. It looks as if Madden will have some competition for the first time in ten years. Judging from this screenshot it looks like it could be an unlicensed game since EA has the exclusive license locked up with the NFL.

There has been no word on which consoles it would be available on, but a developer of the game tweeted that Franchise will be the "soul" of the game and will be as deep as ever. Even if it is unlicensed, at least when the exclusive license is up with EA, they can go to the NFL and show them this game and give EA a run for their money for the license.

Unreal Engine could possibly open the door for mods for this game on PC....Jersey Mods.

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. If users mod it I don't think the company can be held liable.

EA still holds the NFL rights. People buy madden for the NFL teams and players, not generic football. Sucks but it's the truth.

I think it's crazy that EA holds exclusive NFL rights especially when 2K NFL games were much better year on year out

From what I've read, the NFL said that it made more money having ONE licensed game compared to multiple thus why they wanted an exclusive game with someone. Now it's funny seeing interviews from Rex Dickson who works on Madden and says he would love to have competition, thus why a tweet about Joe Montana Football not being bigger than what it actually is was disappointing to them.

Anyway, on that note Joe Montana Football is going to be a Mobile game that if it does well, could come to PC in 2017, and at the latest 2018 for consoles(PS4/Xbox One). Look for it on your phone come 2016.

So it's a mobile game? Ugh.

Oh man that's disappointing. A real football game for the PC apparently is too much to ask for sigh.

Madden having zero competition has been nothing but bad for the franchise tbh. A competitor, even without the license, would've been very welcome.

Hopefully the mobile thing isn't a death knell.
