Ravens sign S Kendrick Lewis

Back to the subject of Lewis, of which this topic actually pertains, I think he's going to be a really good signing. I don't think he will significantly impact our compensatory picks, if at all. When it comes to free agents lost VS gained, you have to look at more than numbers. It's not just an algorithm of...

Did you lose 5 players? TRUE or FALSE?
Did you gain 1 player? TRUE or FALSE?

5 - 1 = 4, which is the maximum compensatory picks! Congratulations!

Lol, I think it's more like this...

Torrey Smith lost for 8M average = 4th round compensatory

Pernell McPhee lost for 7.75M average = 4th round compensatory

Owen Daniels lost for 4M average = 6th round compensatory

Tyod Taylor lost for 3.5M average = 6th round compensatory

Darian Stewart lost for ??? average = 7th round compensatory

MINUS

Kendrick Lewis gained for 1.8M average = 7th round compensatory (borderline)

This would eliminate a comparable contract, which, in this case, is Stewart. If we signed someone such as, say, Rahim Moore, then I think it would've eliminated Owen Daniels' loss. Obviously these compensatory pick projections are very loose and should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are here to primarily illustrate that Lewis is a great signing, will likely cost us nothing in terms of compensatory picks considering that his contract is likely in line with Darian Stewart. I suspect he will be an upgrade or at least a lateral move over Stewart. So, yes, great signing by Ozzie if things work out the way they should.

I think #75 might be on that list as well. I thought we had someone with the #19, though? I could very well be wrong there. Just thought there was one. Like some no-name guy or something, lol.

A brief moment of indiscretion. It will never happen again.

Again, I know very little about this dude but I hope he strengthens our back end.

The last thing we used to ever worry about was someone throwing the ball deep on us. These last two years every time I saw a QB throw the ball deep it was always completed for a big gain or touch down. I just want the occasional pass break up now. No more deep completions from our back end. I hope Hill and Lewis are the answer back there.

Apprently he's doing really good in practice, biting on play action a little bit though.

Looks like Webb is enjoying Lewis company.   Webb emphasized that ravens secondary key is to catch QBs ball.  We are going to see ton of INTs from good QBs.

Any INTs are good enough, we must've been in th bottom 5 in turnovers these past few years. A good free safety serves as an anchor for the secondary, if he's good the secondary stands a chance to be highly effective. Now that we have a good free Darcy and an all pro level Strong safety our CB's won't have so much pressure and Webb can play right like he use to when he could rely on help up top.
