Ravens sign S Kendrick Lewis

249 posts in this topic

I was wrong about forsett.

As for Jimmy he wasn't very good until last season..sometimes you need more then a few games to come to the conclusion on a persons ability. I hate one season wonders.

the rest? pretty right..i even said last year ngata won't do us a favor..he's a greedy so and so who wants all his money even though he could help us big time with his contract.

im not right about everything but i get a lot of it right. Marcus Spears was another one i didn't agree with

What was your opinion on the Stewart pick up last season?

indifferent. Better than elam.

Texans got rid of him because he was due to be backup to rahim moore. Moore is far more polished player ( aside from that legendary gaff a few years ago) on all fronts. He is a backup player and simply put is an improvement over elam . I think Jeremy miles is better than him.

They were hoping to resign him, but undoubtedly them signing Rahim Moore meant he probably wasn't looking at as big a payday from them as we offered him.  Given that Moore got just 4 million a year, I'd assume we will end up paying Lewis less than that, and if he turns out to be solid, it's a good signing.  If it's a bust, we can just cut him like we did with Michael Huff.  Yeah it's a bit of a risk, but relatively not much if we got him at a good price.

He was ranked 39th out of 87 eligible safeties. He's better than half of the guys that play the position. I think you and Sami are over exaggerating a bit.

As with all players I'll withhold judgment until I see them play on our team and our system. Sometimes a change of scenery and/or system can do wonders and be an improvement for some players. Just cause a player sucked on one team, doesn't mean he will on another team.

Its one of his best seasons to date. You guys would knock pollard but pollard has been ranked a top 10 safety 3-4 times in the past 6 years! Ihedigo 2 times and Dwan Landry 5 times! yet people on this forum were critical of them..

and now kendrick freaking lewis has one of his better seasons ever which would be a bad bernard pollard season and wow we are supposed to be enthusiastic..you mean like michael huff the 2nd team all pro FS from 2010?

Yeah, he must really suck:

@RavensInsider: New Ravens safety Kendrick Lewis led Texans in performance-based pay with a $209,465.32 payout from last year

Doesn't mean he sucks he's just earning extra money because his playing level is higher than what he's getting paid

Kendrick Lewis played pretty decent last year and if anything IMO he is an improvment on the departed Darian Stewart. Between Lewis, Hill, Elam and a healthy Brooks we could forge a solid safety rotation.

I wanna see the $$$ but I'm excited. SS forced to play FS and was good to average at both

From what I hear*

He's more of a FS

When i said Will Hill was legit i had people doubting me

When I said Daryl Smith was Legit i had people doubting me

When i said Elam was an abomination when drafted i had people doubting me

When i said CJ mosley was a great pick people doubted me

trust me on this..Kendrick lewis is a scrub.

I remember people being high on Will Hill. The only problem with him is he needs to stay out of trouble. I remember people being high on Daryl Smith too.

I'm not saying he is that great or anything but lewis has had a decent career in some not so great secondary. Gets a decent amount of picks as well. He could be really cheap

Per our website:

Lewis, 26, is a former fifth-round pick out of Mississippi. The 6-foot, 198-pounder topped the Texans’ performance-based pay list last year, showing he outperformed his contract.

Okay..maybe I'm being harsh..its just that we could have signed rahim moore who would have complimented will hill perfectly.

Anyhow..whatever. Kendrick lewis has ''potential''…even at 26-27..there I'm being positive. He's better than elam and has a higher ceiling than stewart

hows that for positivity?

I really can't judge until I see the $$$. If it's a cheap deal, it's a win pretty much no matter what.

It's gonna be nice having a safety who can tackle. Also our history with former Texans has been pleasant. It's a good move since it means less relying on Elam. Hopefully he and Hill mesh well together.

Moore commanded a higher salary coming from the Broncos.  He was looking for a payday...  Which, we don't have.  And yes, the positivist is better...  I might make a suggestion to try and do some due-diligence before posting some of the knee jerk reactions. (which we all do at times).   I have learned that one in my tenure here

Kendrick always been a pretty talent safety  but he dealt with injuries and etc in which for some reason affected his play. He goes to the The Texans and overall basically revives his value and career.

Def respect your opinion but could you give a bit more detail since you know so much about him.  Pollard was our heavy hitter but not very solid in coverage.  Ihedigbo was better, but also not known for his coverage skills.  You say these guys were that much better than him, how so?

He doesn't even play the same position as Elam, digs, or pollard. He has played FS his whole career. Further more, he isnt a standout player, he's a good safety that give us a good pair with hill

Exactly... and was on a one year deal because of the injury...  We would be having the same discussion had Forsett signed elsewhere... 6 years in the league and has One good year, not a great RB... but this guy was good last year, and we liked and re-signed him...  I'm thinking the Texans were in a similar dilemma ...didn't want to pay him.

Pollard and Ihedigbo are better tacklers and more reactive. They are superior at the run too. Coverage wise they are better than Lewis. Lewis might have 9 interceptions ( which is below average for any FS in his 6 year in the league) but he's hardly a ball hawk.

I saw that the deal is a 12million 3yr deal

link?

That's the same as Moore's. I seriously doubt Moore would have even considered coming to Bmore, where every day would be a reminder of the biggest boneheaded blunder of his life, not unless we broke the bank to do it.

Thats the only positive

Will Hill at SS is the best SS in the league.
