Now that my boy Tyrod "T-Mobile" Taylor is finally on a team that wants him; I hope he goes off up there in Buffalo. Congrats TT.

If Matt Schaub gets cut I'd try him for cheap. If not Matt Moore, Mike Vick and Colt McCoy could be decent vet signings if they come cheap

Out of that group, I'd want Colt McCoy the most. He'd be one of the cheapest and I think he'd do okay with a team that can run the ball well.

Good luck toTyrod.  He finally steps out of Joes shadow. Gotta say from what I saw in the 014 pre, Wenning is not ready

Good Luck Tyrod! For now Keith Wenning and Bryn Renner will fight for the backup job.

I like the McCoy, too, and I think he was playing for vet minimum (or close to it) for the Skins last year.

Best of luck to Tyrod, class act.

I'm actually okay with what I saw from Wenning last year, and think the Ravens will be okay.
1.  Flacco doesn't get hurt.  So does the back-up even matter?  Joe gets plenty of time, as the line did a great job blocking.

2.   the Ravens offense is NOT very complicated.  It's not like if you take Peyton Manning out of an offense, then it completely changes due to the same audibles and trickery not able to be used.

3.  If you love Flacco, that's fine.  But let's not act like he CARRIED the team.  The front office did well to build a solid roster across all positions.  The line, the running backs, the receivers, etc.  About the only place on offense that wasn't above average would be the tight end spot due to unforseen injuries and lack of options.  If the QB goes down, it's not a "sunk" season by any means.

4.  Remember when Tom Brady missed most of a season and Matt Cassell came in, but the PAtriots were still able to make the playoffs?  If the Patriots can make the playoffs with Matt Cassel, I'm pretty sure the Ravens can do okay if Flacco ever were to go down.... ASSUMING they have even just an "okay" back-up.  They might have to go Trent-Dilfer style and just NOT turn the ball over... but that's usually all you have to do when you have a good defense and a kicker like Justin Tucker.

As for Tyrod Taylor in Buffalo... it's exactly what I expected to happen.  I know Rex Ryan liked him.  And Buffalo obviously doesn't have a clear-cut starter.  I mean, Manuel was not drafted by Rex... so he's got no loyalty to giving him a roster spot.

I am shocked that it happened so early in free agency though.  I figure Tyrod would end up waiting until halfway through training camp or preseason when a team had an injury.  But the fact he got signed so early is at least something to be excited about.  Sounds like they will give him an actual chance to compete(which is the right move for the Bills, considering the other names there).

Will the Ravens miss him?  No.  And that's really all that matters for Ravens Nation.  That secondary.... now THAT'S something to worry about.

Was you or that an actual nickname? I think he has a good shot to start if given a fair chance.

1) Pats missed the playoffs that year, but but they did go 11-5.

2) Flacco goes down, we're screwed and I'm not even a Flacco fanboy.

I hear Taylor was courted by the Broncos but chose to go to Buffalo instead. I guess Kubiak couldn't get all our guys lol. The Broncos offered more money, too, from what I read

Well there is a zero point zero percent chance Tyrod starts in Denver.

In Buffalo he at at minimum a 33% chance.  ( or something like that ... )

He never showcased any real talent. It's best for all concerned. Especially the Ravens. They could do a lot  better. See yah TT. And good luck. He's not starter material.

"T-Mobile" is his actual nickname from his H.S. days.

Sean Mannion looked great at his pro day.

I'd be delighted if we could get him as a back up. I've got no idea where he'll be drafted, but I'd happily spend a 5th round pick on him.

Before last year's draft, many were predicting the likes of AJ McCarron (5th round pick for Bengals) and Tom Savage (4th round comp pick for Texans) to be 1st round (or early 2nd round) picks.

If not Mannion, Garrett Grayson would be another who'd interest me should he fall in the draft.

I guess Kubiak tried selling to him to sit behind Peyton for a year and then once he retires, compete for starting gig. I think Tyrod made the right decision

Fifth is actually about where he's predicted to go right now, and I'd be more than happy to have him as the backup. He's a game manager by all means, but the Ravens have a good running game right now and he's a pretty good rhythm passer when he's kept upright and isn't facing too much pressure. I'd be thrilled to have him in the fifth as the backup

I disagree, honestly. I think Tyrod has a lot of talent and natural ability, he's just got a lot of kinks to work out and when you're the backup, I'm not sure you're getting all the attention you need. He was definitely a project coming out, but maybe sitting behind Flacco and learning with him will be exactly what he needed to go out there and at least compete in a major way and have a real shot at winning the job.

Those kinks were the lack of accuracy. Poor decision making and the inability to read coverages. He was awful in spring training as well. All years i attended had me scratching my head about the team not deleting him from the plan b option. But I will say he was a class act. And he could run the ball.

His lack of accuracy is poor footwork and erratic touch, which are something you can fix. I agree he's not there mentally, but he has the tools and talent to be good if he can master the mental part of the game.

I don't think it's necessary at this point for us to pick Taylor apart. He's gone and headed to a team where he'll have a chance to compete for the starting gig given the current options.

Either he makes it or he doesn't. He never complained while here and did what was asked of him. Let's just wish him luck and that be it.

Merely observations.  He is gone your right. But going forward, Id hope they would select a more accurate passer then Taylor.

Agreed. I think Joe wants the best for, as well. He was a class act while here.

Tyrod is going to surprise a lot of us. I think he has a legit chance to beat our Cassell, etc to win the starting QB job. If he does and gets a couple of wins and becomes confident, watch out.

I think what Taylor needs is an offense that works for him... The Ravens never had that. With Joe as a big armed guy we structured our offense around that. If Joe went down we couldn't just change the offense in a matter of minutes and expect it to work. Going to Buffalo they will have a true competition and the best man will win and Manuel and Taylor can both run the same offense... meaning the odd one out would be Cassell who honestly hasn't really done anything since his Patriot days. So good luck Taylor.

He's not going to surprise a lot of us...just his haters!

How did I know I would get a response from you Mili??

Cause it is no secret in here Elli.  Everyone knows that I'm in Tyrod's corner and want to see him do well in the NFL.  No harm in supporting players.  It still remains to be seen what he will do in Buffalo but I'll definitely be watching.

Tyrod, was in a tough spot playing behind Flacco because he has never missed a game and is very durable. I do think Tyrod is going to be just fine he had more than a couple of years in the NFL to just soak it all in and now he gets a chance to put it all together on the field.  I wish him the best. I think if it is a true open competiton he has a good shot at being the starter in Buffalo.
