Tyrod Taylor

Now that Taylor has moved on... what are we to do about our back up... this year's draft is very weak on qbs and don't want to waste money on veteran when Flacco never sits. Keith is our only option right now and that's not saying much.

On a side note... if Taylor becomes a starter with the weapons the bills have and adding also trying to add (Harvin)... with having a great defense Taylor could have a good year... but he has to win the job first. Short routes (Harvin) and lots of running the ball.

We're gonna have to bring in veteran competition for wenning, maybe case keenum? One things for sure, whoever backs up flacco this year is gonna be called on to start whenever flacco throws more than 2 int's lol.

Wenning - anyone we bring in would need to be fit in under an already tight salary cap.  IMO if Joe goes down the season is sunk - i'm not one of these people who holds that you can just go out and replace a franchise QB.  Yeah we could win some games, but I don't think there's any backup QB out there capable of winning playoff games, so to limp along just to burn out would make no sense to me.  So IMO the best option is to keep the cheap second year player who already has a year of WCO under his system and is no doubt hard at work studying whatever Trestman has given him.  This isn't 2010 when Joe needs some magical veteran presence to make him "better".  This is the time of our established SB-winning QB, and every effort should be made to make the team AROUND him better, not look for a better backup.  There's a reason why Romo has McCoy, Aaron Rodgers has Matt Flynn, Tom Brady has whoever, Peyton had Jim Sorgi all those years - nobody actually thinks you can win games with that backup (although Flynn showed something at least).  They're just a cheap option in case you need a body to fill in.  They're not winning the Superbowl.

On that thought... next year's cap... what if Joe decides he is not interested in restructuring/extending/whatever to lower his cap... and God forbid the Ravens decide that 20+ year for 3 more years isn't in their Financials and say goodbye... what then.

Not saying we will or should but you never know what Ozzie will do at any moment.

There is no street free agent capable of replacing Joe on a talent level basis.  And this league is now one where you can't win without talent at the QB position, otherwise the Jets would have made at least 1 Superbowl with Sanchez.  So the only option is to draft one.  That's what would have to happen - the guys out there now are all 4+ year vets who've shown nothing in this league.

The one guy out there even worth looking at is Flynn, because he's played in the WCO and showed some aptitude in it.  But it's still not worth the cost - he'd be maybe about a million to sign when we've already basically done the same for Wenning.

I hope he wins the starting gig!

Same here. Not only will it give us a better compensatory pick, but I always liked Tyrod. I hope he got a nice contract. If he somehow wins the starting gig and the Bills go to the playoffs and he got a good amount of money, we could see nice compensation for him.

He's also a good guy, so you want to cheer for him to do well and finally get a chance.

Go, Tyrod! No ego on him just worked hard. Remember when Troy Smith's agent said he would crawl to Cleveland during a playoff run? lol

Show those scrubs Manuel and Cassel what's good.

I think he's got a shot in Buffalo. I'm just glad I won't hear somebody say "Put Tyrod in" everytime Joe throws a pick.

Indeed, he was truly a raven and he never complained about wanting a trade or out of Baltimore he simply waited for his time.

I think with the addition of shady and receiving threats in Watkins and Woods he has tools to be successful.

A True professional and I think all ravens fans should be in his corner!

It's good to see him get an opportunity.  He's a likable guy and although I've never really wanted to see him start for us, I did like when he got an opportunity to come in and change things up a bit.

I think Tyrod will prove to be a better QB than Cassel or EJ (yeah yeah, I know that's not saying much), but my gut tells me those goobers in BUF will give the job to Cassel anyway

we will draft a qb at some point or stick with wenning.

Draft is the key word  That is where I see MGMT channeling their interests.  Probably some dude for a small school.  The QB for Arizona State was excellent too.

Good luck toTyrod.  He finally steps out of Joes shadow. Gotta say from what I saw in the 014 pre, Wenning is not ready

You know, I wish Wenning showed us a little bit more last year. With his skill set I feel like the Ravens could have tried to trade Tyrod to the Eagles if he were still on the team (obviously before Bradford). Knowing Kelly the Ravens may have been able to coax a 4th or 5th round pick out of him somehow, which is huge for a draft savvy team like the Ravens

I'm pretty sure it's an involuntary response, so I wouldn't get my hopes up

Cassel is soft and he wont last 16 games; Tyrod will have his opportunity to showcase his abilities.  He will make a difference in Buffalo...

Good Luck, Tyrod...

I am happy for Taylor and he has the chance to Excel if given the job. I have a feeling that they will run a lot of playaction, screens and quick passes as well as some read option. They will hopefully change the offense to his strengths and that could be dangerous... with the defense they have and the mindset of Rex Ryan to run the ball he could do really well. And I hope they demolish the patriots.

If Vick comes here, I'm not watching a single game while he's on the roster, I will not support them at all.   Hell, I'll even write letters to their front office.

I doubt this could occur, but just the rumors are annoying me

If Matt Schaub gets cut I'd try him for cheap. If not Matt Moore, Mike Vick and Colt McCoy could be decent vet signings if they come cheap
