Patrick Willis retiring..

16 posts in this topic

Willis is literally considered the next Ray Lewis type of player, but he backed out and retired which spoke big volume about 40ers top management.

The ship is thinking....

Best ILB in their prime since Ray?

It's shocking. He was apart of one of the greatest draft classes ever. 49ers have great depth along their front 7, but they're losing their identity quickly.

Shocking and sad at the same time. To retire because of a toe injury. I don't believe one bit he is retiring because of the mess the 49ers are in right now. He doesn't seem that kind of person and he only had 2 years on his deal left

Yeah he's retiring because of serious turf toe, apparently.  Same thing that ended our beloved JO's career.

This is a serious shock and a shame to see really. Willis seems to be a class individual and competitor.

wow did not foresee this. Well all the best Willis he was a great player and I believe if healthy he can still perform at a very high level.

I think only playing for 8 seasons this removes him from the potential argument of greatest LB of all time. Not that LB's have a long shelf life, but I remember the all time greats hanging around a little longer. Maybe Ray just spoiled me.

Still think he's got a good shot for the Hall of Fame, but man shocked. dudes only 30 right?

Crazy to think that only a season or two he was the benchmark for all best ILB discussions.

And we thought the Ravens cap problems defined a bad offseason. Niners fans are in for a rough season.

There is no way to compare us to the whiners...they are far away from us, especially from top management.  When Jim was there, their success can compare to us but their future is no where near cuz Mr Yolk's winning with class slogan.....

If we look around, there is no bad season for us.  We just have extremely high expectation.....
