Could Aiken and/or Brown fill in for Torrey?

They have experience.  These recievers should be promoted into  greater roles in our offense for the 2015 season..

well some people already thought they are better then torrey so its going to be very interesting to see if they truly are.

I do think we draft a burner somewhere in the draft cause neither of these 2 wrs are big play threats that can stretch the field.

We need speed with Torrey gone, they should have bigger roles but we need a big play threat so other teams don't just stack the box on us

Aiken and Brown can't really replace Torrey because they don't have the speed to take the top off the defense.

I like Brown and Aiken...  They may have a better chance of getting open at times.   Torrey had a hard time fighting for the ball.

Speed is great, if you can catch the ball consistently.  That was a problem at times with Torrey.  Trust me, I loved the guy...  but his routes weren't crisp, and he had a hard time sometimes controlling the ball while on the run.  I'm with Fish...  catching balls from Kaepernick could prove to be interesting for him.

I hope that Marlon Brown steps up big this year. I also hope we draft Jaelen Strong. #1 Strong, #2 Steve, #3 Brown, #4/#5 Campanero and Aiken

Aiken could be our #1 WR.  He's not as fast as Torrey, but is very solid in all his other qualities ( Hands, Routes).

No way none of those guys replace Torrey. Torrey had the ability to stretch the field and draw penalties. Joe needs a deep threat receiver. I see us drafting a speed guy. Camp? Aiken? Really? lol

Right priced underrated veteran and the draft.

I like Andre Johnson or Dwayne Bowe the most to pair with Steve Smith. Draft someone to be Flacco's number 1 in the near future

Number 1? No, maybe a 2

Just b/c Torrey leaves, doesn't automatically mean they'll fill his position.  They need to earn it over all of the other

WRs that compete during training camp.

What about Aldrick Robinson who's on our Practice Squad? Word is he has sub 4.4 speed.

He's on the practice squad for a reason.  He couldn't beat out the WRs who made the 53.

Cary was a practice squad player who became a starter. That's very short sighted.

It's the exception and not the norm.  You know this.

I suspect we'll use Brown, Aiken as we did last year. They don't offer the same play as Torrey. I think Campanaro could be used as a deep threat, and I'd even say the same for Smith Sr. Robinson is an unknown but so was Aiken.

I definitely think this team will address WR and will address it early. I thought this before Smith and still do. I think it's very likely we take two WR this year in the draft. Devin Smith and Phillip Dorsett are my top two guesses for WR early. I think a guy like Diggs is also in play a little later. I'd even say McBride is another guy who could come here

And that's what people said about Torrey...  and now the guy is going to SF on what will be close to #1 money.

Brown and Aiken are different than Torrey as receivers but at least one will likely see more playing time. I think the team will look for a speedster to help fill the role Torrey had.

Wiki has him running 4.35 at the 2011 combine.

He's on the PS becuse we didn't sign him until Dec. of last year, when the 53 was already overcrowded at WR.

He actually started a few games for the Redskins when Garcon was hurt, and returns punts.

I had totally forgotten we signed this kid. I'm really interested to see what he can do.

Yeah but it's not like it's not possible. I agree it's not the norm but don't just discount him like he's trash.

Maybe I read into what you said too much. You said that he couldn't make the 53 and it sounded like you were writing him off. If I misinterpreted your opinion, my bad. That's how I interpreted what you said. I got the impression that you pretty much already wrote him off.

Not at all. I was just saying he has yet to beat out the guys ahead of him and until that happens, we don't know if the offense can take advantage of his speed.

I understand now. I'm sorry for the poor interpretation on my part. I hope you at least understand how I misinterpreted lol. I'd agree with that and I don't even think we disagree. I think Robinson could be a future piece of the offense. Then again, he may not be anything. We need to invest onto a free agent and possibly multiple draft picks. I felt this way before we lost Torrey.

I really like Eddie Royal as a replacement

No worries GC!  I'm just a firm believer that players earn their way on the 53 and ultimately on the field.  I could care less if a guy comes from the CFL, Arena football or from the practice squad, if he can help the Ravens win, I'm all for it.

I think Brown gets really overrated by the fans. He's a good depth receiver that's useful due to his height at times. But he's never shown the ability to beat starting corners on the outside. I really don't think he'll ever rise up to be a #2 receiver in the NFL. But he could be a useful 3rd option for moving the chains.

As for Aiken, he does have the potential to be an average #2 receiver. At the very least, he's a reliable possession guy who'll move the chains and fight for the ball in the redzone.

However, neither of them can stretch the defense, so they wouldn't really be replacements for the main thing Torrey brought to the table.

I'd love Royal as the replacement for Torrey.

I have a future nephew...  (supposed to marry my neice in June)....  Plays LB/defensive back for the Tigercats... and is really good...  but not so sure he could make it on the Ravens....  There is definitely a gap there.  That being said...  I'm with you.  I could care less where they come from.  As long as they can play.
