Joe Flacco 29th ranked mobile QB in the league?

52 posts in this topic

I don't let these silly articles fire me up anymore. In the grand scheme of things one baseless article means absolutely nothing. Flacco certainly isn't the most mobile QB around but he's definitely middle of the pack. Just look at the way extends plays with his feet similar to Big Ben who get's constant praise for it. Flacco doesn't have straight line speed but he has good agility in the pocket for a guy his size.

Don't give these hacks the time of day, it's obvious he only watches the vast majority of these QB's play 2-3 times a year and makes blanket generalizations based on that extremely limited sample size.

I was just going to say that...big difference between being a scrambling QB and pocket mobility....pocket mobility; Flacco is up there with Roethlisberger in his ability to move around and extend plays.

I wouldn't say that.

I'm starting to think maybe the Ravens fan base is a lot bigger than we think. Writers know this so they throw salt their way knowing it will it get clicks. Behind the scenes these writers have Ravens undies and Flacco Snuggies...

I wouldn't say that.

I wouldn't exact call Ben mobile, I'd just say he is impossible to tackle.

To me Ben is the best at evading tackles for a period of time to give his receivers time to work off of their DB's and then he throws precision passes on the move and his WR's actually catch the balls for him in the process making him look even better.  Deadly combo!

Functional qb mobility is often miss understood. For example Tom Brady is far more functionally mobile than Collin Kaepernick. To say otherwise is not understanding the requirements of the position.

Manzel shouldn't be higher than Flacco. I've seen all I need to see from the man.   But Brady ahead of Flacco in mobility. This list is already a joke. Brady should be last. And Rivers is too high

Kaepernick is a great runner with a lot of speed and should clearly be in the top 5, but I don't think I'd put him number 1 his vision and pocket awareness aren't as good as say Wilson and some other QBs who are also good runners.

But if running is just the criteria the Tyrod should be pretty high on this list.

The writers' reasoning: "Flacco likes to stand tall in the pocket and throw darts. He’s not a guy who wants to run around. At most, he’ll slide around a bit to buy some time. But for the most part, he’s an old-school passer."

His reasoning is fair and somewhat accurate, yet his ranking is wrong if you ask me. Flacco is more of an old-school passer who really doesn't like to move around unless he has to. What the writer misses, though, is that Flacco is great on the move.

"Old school passer" what does that even mean? lol Anyone who wins SBs basically has to do that even if they are known to scramble a bit. Every few years you get these hype from scrambling QBs and every year its proven that a QB who mostly passes is needed to win the big game.

Here, let's give this nincompoop David Gomes some clicks on his article because his article is absolutely ill founded, wrong and in fact makes me livid. He claims Joe Flacco is the 4th worst QB in the league in terms of mobility. Are you kidding me or has this guy ever watched Flacco play? How is Brady more mobile than Flacco ever??

Here is the link to the article:

I agree with you..Lets just hope most of the other 31 teams think Joe is slow as well and let them find out on the field.

I hate to admit it but you are correct.

Ben also makes a lot of mistakes when he extends plays, but overall he is probably a little better at it than Flacco. That said, I think Flacco doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves for his mobility. More than anything, Ben's WRs are better at improvising and getting open as the play breaks down which is a big part of the equation.

This has to be the 2nd stupidest ranking of all time. First being the 2017 power rankings by a Steeler fan none of the less.

100% agree!

Flacco is quicker and more elusive; Ben is tougher to bring down...doesn't matter to me who we consider better of the two, my point was simply that Flacco has excellent pocket mobility. It's moronic for this writer to claim otherwise

Case in point...how many times every single week do we see Flacco moving around holding onto the ball for 5 - 7 seconds only to throw the ball away or try to force it into a real tight spot? Flacco would get a lot more credit for his mobility if he got some help from the recievers.
