$2.66M more cap room. Only concern is that if we lose Ngata, we'll have a very, very young line. If we lose Ngata, we'll be putting a lot of hope in Tyson, Williams, Jernigan, Guy, the one-time-injured Urban, and the constantly injured KLM. We'll likely get a nice value signing down the road, and we may draft DL, but I'm concerned with the lack of experience in this group. Great starters, but you NEED depth on the DL, as we've seen the past three years.

Canty was a decent signing. He did what he was supposed to do. He wasn't great, but he wasn't terrible. He did his job when healthy.

Dang I didn't see that coming. I thought we would at least wait to see if he would retire. So looks like we gonna restructure Ngata 's contract keep McPhee or Draft a Pass Rusher..( Eli Harold)

Yeah that's how I feel. We'll be very young on the DL, but a free agent like Cory Redding (if he doesn't retire) makes a lot of sense. Mike DeVito could be cut from the Chiefs, too, and he's younger and would fit with our mantra of signing cut veterans.

This could mean that we're close to extending Ngata, though.

Restructuring Ngata will be huge for the d line and cap. The amount of time this is taking is somewhat worrying though.

And it's not really the starters I'm concerned about. I think we'd be okay, if not good, with Jernigan, Williams, and Guy/Tyson. I worry about the lack of quality depth.

Guy is a free agent. But I like what I've seen from Williams, Jernigan and Tyson. Lewis-Moore and Urban ate unknown commodities but there's hope, especially with Urban.

I really hope so because I was assuming we'd keep one or the other of them.

Again, more kind words from Harbs and Ozzie.

Chris was a good guy and leader and a respectable starter. I know he sacrificed a lot to play, I think he had a pretty serious infection in his wrist that kept him sidelined for some time.

Isn't Guy an RFA? We usually keep those

First thanks Chris you won't have any trouble finding another team. Second, Ozzie is up to something and it's always good for the team. Go Ozzie do what you do best!!   :baltimore-ravens:

Nope.

Bilukidi is but with how right our cap is I don't see us handing out many tenders. Now I do think it's possible we re-sign a few guys as we did with McClellan last year, but I don't see us tendering many. I think Tucker gets extended and avoids the tender and I see Will Hill as our only tender, it being a second round tender. I don't see us extending Will Hill yet.

I think we'll miss what Canty gave us in terms of veteran leadership but they're are enough DL guys out there who could replace him if we don't retain Ngata.

And if he does indeed retire, he won't have any trouble finding another job period.

Not surprised, we waited to see if he wanted to retire and its looking like he doesn't yet. That being said, the cap we save by cutting him is significant and, in my opinion, this move was expected if he didn't want to retire. I think its a good move to save cap

Not too surprised to see this, wish him luck though whether it be on another team or if he decides to hang it up

Just freeing up more cap space. Apparently Canty plans on playing in 2015. Now the question is where.

I was kind of skimming through tweets at work today, but I think I saw one that said Canty could possibly be back at a lower rate if the market is cold.  I'd welcome that.  He's not what he once was, but I think he was a very underrated leader for this team.

Yeah I agree 100% and I wouldn't mind him back at all. I think he'd bring a lot of leadership here in the event that we do lose Ngata. I don't think he returns if we extend Ngata though.

Good. I'm looking forward to a heated battle between Kapron & Urban for his spot. I'm thinking we'll get the same type of result we got when Brandon took over at DT.

Goodbye Canty. You were a good versatile player at the right price. Coulda dealt without the injuries keeping you off the field but I'm sure you feel the same way.
