Ray Rice's letter to Baltimore

The most ridiculous part about the "women beater" title is that it was only one punch for the first time ever.

'Life is a long lesson in humility." James M. Barrie

To me that applies to all of us. My position is unchanged. I just wish only the best for the Rice Family and have no doubt that they will overcome and be better for it.

My only hope for NFL owners is to not let his past mistakes determine his future in the league. Give him the same chance for redemption as every other player who'd errored publicly.  That takes character and intregrity. I'm proud that Ray and Janay have completed the family counseling and court legal requirements, yet continue to put-in the work to form an even healthier relationship while selflessly supporting community service initiatives.

Thank you Ray for giving your all for us.

Ray,

I hope that when your career and life are over, that the public will be able to look back and know that you gleaned the life lessons that need to be acquired from this incident and that you moved on to do even greater good, because you appear to me as that type of guy.  I hope that at the end this will only be a small mark on an otherwise stellar record for a life that shows redemption is possible.  If anyone can do it you can.

Best wishes to you and your family as you move forward in this life,

Grapple

“Between the radiant white of a clear conscience and the coal black of a conscience sullied by sin lie many shades of gray--where most of us live our lives. Not perfect but not beyond redemption.”

Sherry L. Hoppe

This.

I've tried to pretend that I didn't care RR is gone, but damn I miss him.

Good Luck to you Ray, as long as you are not playing against the Ravens.    :D

I know it will probably not happen but I would love to Ray in Purple in Black next season...I make mistakes everyday and im not a bad person. why is not okay for him to make one mistake and have to deal with it for the rest of his life??

Because his mistake was broadcast world wide, in living color.

I know that wherever he lands, and he will land, Ray will always play like a Raven. More importantly, I hope that he has learned from his mistake.  Thanks to redemption, Ray will have the opportunity to make a comeback, both as a football player and as a man. Make the most of it, Ray, and thanks for all the fond memories of your stellar play here in Bmore!

Was it? He seemed awfully comfortable with that swing and didn't appear the least bit surprised at the result. It really looked like "Business as usual" at least by his mannerisms.

After reading through some of the comments... would anyone here welcome him back on a one year at minimum price deal. If we don't resign Forsett... or get Duke or a good back in the draft my answer is yes. He would do great in the zone blocking scheme and catching balls in the flat (Trestman loves his backs catching out of the backfield). We can be the team that gives him a second chance and show that he didn't lie to us and that NFL just screwed up. He can be a model citizen and bring awareness to domestic violence everywhere and show that he making amends to all.

I think the alcohol had a little to do with that. He sobered up quickly after the punch... like most people do after u realize that you just went to far.

I'd be so happy if we were able to get Ray Rice back. He reminds me a lot of Matt Forte and I think he'd fit well in Trestman's system

We could get him extremely cheap too due to what happened, I don't think many teams are looking to sign him especially since he's coming off the worst year of his career that was plagued by injuries... much like Justin Forsett when he came to Baltimore...

I don't think either party wants to reignite the flame. I'd equate it to a breakup where both parties know the best thing to do is move on.

True, In the end only Ray and his wife know if its a one time thing or "business as usual". I hope they really worked things out and it never ever happens again. Just be at peace.

But one party's friends (fans) still won't let it go.

I'll never forget what Rice did for this team.

4th and 29.

Opening drive opening play touchdown run against the Patriots in the 2009 playoffs.

But for all the good plays, you have just as many if not more blunders

Fumble in 2010 playoff game against Steelers (funny enough I think every game against the Steelers in the playoffs a running back has an awful fumble).

Fumble in 2012 Super Bowl.

Almost the entirety of the 2013 season.

I'll appreciate what he did, but I don't miss him.

I don't hold any malice against the Ravens for cutting him.  They stuck with him for as long as they could.  Flat out between the fact Ray was PR poison at that point and his production has been declining dramatically every year.  They didn't really have any other choice.
