Puerto Rico or Costa Rica?

My sister and I are wanting to plan a trip to one of the two for roughly 14 days. Neither one of us are wanting to have a trip that is planned out to the tee, more of a go with flow kind of trip, with certain things accounted for ie places to stay and certain things to do, but not a "we have to check in at 330" type of trip if that makes any sense, most likely not.

Anyways, neither one of us has been to either place but have numerous friends that have been to one or the other and get mixed reviews, all stories welcome.
