Here is a play tape of some of the offensive schemes Marc should be bringing to Baltimore.

Any thoughts of the types of plays that we may be seeing coming in 2015? With what I saw on tape in regards to the shotgun and knowing Flaccos arm, this could be the year he makes it past 4k finally...

Gotta love how the profanity filter's there to bail you out after a typo. :D

Also, here's Trestman's playbook from his 1998 season with the Arizona Cardinals:

http://www.footballxos.com/download/offense/pro-offense/1998-Arizona-Cardinals-Offense.pdf

He had Frank Sanders receive for 1145 yards and Rob Moore for 982. Nearly two WRs with 1000-yard seasons isn't too bad pre-2000. Jake Plummer threw for 3737 yards, 17 TDs and 20 picks.

I was going to fix it, but I guess it's too late already. We fix a lot of that kind of mistake.

I can delete my post if you'd rather. I've seen worse on other forums (players' names getting censored), but I just thought it was kinda funny.

i spoke to a colleague in chicago who follows the bears. he said trestman was a very good offensive mind but due to cutlers contract he couldn't get cutler to buy in. if trestman is effective we may have an OC fro more then 1 year. regardless of his performance as OC i donlt think another team would be quick to give him a HC job.

Who was Cutler's back up the year he went down under Trestman? That dude was killing it EVERY single game during the time Alshon started to shine. Cutler just couldn't run the offense he could, I think it was Josh Mcown?

I could care less about Flacco throwing for 4k.  Now if his playcalling allows us to hoist the Lombardi next February, that's a different story.

Honestly would take McCown. Could help Flacco learn the offense and such or at least help Flacco adjust to Trestman. Have a backup that's capable of running the system in case worse comes to worse.

He would be a expensive back up and a cheap starter.

I see it a bit differently, he was successful under Trestman and that offense looked very good. When Cutler came back everything changed, Flacco isn't the head case Cutler is. I can see Flacco doing well under Trestman.

So there you have it.

Cut Flacco, sign McCown. Pass the savings on to getting corners and receivers.

I am TOTALLY kidding by the way.

If I had not said it, someone else would have and they would have been serious.

I'm convinced Flacco is cursed and will never throw for over 4k....

If he wins us another superbowl I'm more than OK with it. And it makes me love it even more when you have other guys passing for 5k and can't even win a playoff game.

if joe throws for 4k, and his td's are in the 20's at least with his ints at 12 or less, and we have a 1k yard rusher, with a defense anywhere in the top 10, i think we win it all.

to be honest nobody would have came close to stopping us this year if we had just jimmy smith, that one freaking player being hurt is what kept us from a 2nd super bowl in 2 years and i strongly believe that.

I whole heartedly agree!  I can't think of a player who the Ravens lost to injury who's loss impacted the team more than J. Smith's. We probably beat CIN, HOU, and SD if he was available.  We definitely beat NE if he played.

i dont think anyone could have saved us from houston but eveyrone else i agree with for sure. if we had the game that close against NE with our secondary in that shape, it should be clear to anyone its probably a blowout with jimmy smith in there, hes gonna stop at least 2 of those touchdowns

I see a lot of room for Juice in this offense as well. He used a lot of H-back sets and although the play wasn't usually designed to go there if Juice steps up I think he will definitely be utilized more.

I like it. Then fire Pees, hire Flacco as DC, and have him call the magical "Ravens Defense" that gives up 0 yards or points regardless of the talent on the field.

Lol. I struggle looking at Trestman's old body of work, I think this offense is going to be unique.

I'm surprised they don't utilize Joe from the shotgun that much. I wonder what they see that we don't

I don't think its what they saw as much as it was the WR personnel. Getting Marshall would be a big step in making that type of offense a big advantage for us. Being in shotgun relies on the WRs being able to beat both coverage and press and our WR's have had issues with that. Maybe getting Marshall, and another big WR in the draft could help open up the field, and start breaking apart the D. Also, Flacco does really well in the shotgun, allows him to see the field and the coverage better, and if you dont believe me, you can ask Rahim Moore how effective Flacco is in the shotgun lolz.

The offense just calls for more under center work, for many reasons:

1. The west coast is all about timing, and sometimes it's easier to develop timing with receivers when you actually get the snap, take one, two, three steps and throw.

2. Kubiak's offense was so efficient because it's balanced. Playing under center makes it harder for the defense to anticipate pass or run. In the gun, you can bet it's a pass, which leads me to point three...

3. Why use the gun if you don't have to? Ultimately, the gun was created to put more space between the QB and the pass rush. Our offensive line was stout just about all season. There was no good reason to go in the gun. It's also not like we had a statue at QB. We have a guy that can move.

If the offensive line is balling out, and if the run game is good, there are few scenarios where it makes sense to use the gun. Kubiak only used the gun in 3rd and long situations and in situations where we absolutely needed to pass. Simply put, the shotgun is only needed in passing situations and when the oline is bad.
