The Best of Beast Mode

I think Marshawn Lynch is a pretty funny guy with all these crazy interviews etc. and I just love how he keeps it up. So I was just wondering if we could get here some good Marshawn Lynch style links, quotes and news about this special kind of a beast. You know the "weird ones".

I think he's an embarrassment. He is a joke. I hope he gets shut down. He's acting like a spoiled child.

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

The Dude

Quoting myself: "I love the way Marshawn is handling the media. Maybe he hates the media and he certainly doesn't like the spotlights but I think he actually likes a bit to give that payback. We only get glimpses out of most of the players lives anyway so I don't care if he wants to keep his thoughts his own and not give a damn about the media in his own way. He can play some ball and if he keeps his sled clean I'm more than fine with this kind of behaviour with the media."

and this:

"I've never seen anybody win the game in the media. But at the same time, I understand what it could do for you, if you wanted to be someone who talks a lot. But that's not me.

"And I'm not as comfortable, especially at the position I play, making it about me. As a running back, it takes five offensive linemen, a tight end, a fullback and possibly two wide receivers, in order to make my job successful. But when I do interviews, most of the time it'll come back to me. There are only so many times I can say, 'I owe it to my offensive linemen,' or, 'The credit should go to my teammates,' before it becomes run down.

"This goes back even to Pop Warner. You'd have a good game and they'd want you to give a couple of quotes for the newspaper, and I would let my other teammates be the ones to talk. That's how it was in high school, too. At Cal, I'd have my cousin, Robert Jordan, and Justin Forsett do it.

"Football's just always been hella fun to me, not expressing myself in the media. I don't do it to get attention; I just do it 'cause I love that (expletive)." --Beast Mode

He's one of my favorite players in the league and I love the way he carries himself. He's been the best back the last two years and I'll be sad if he retires on top like some rumors have stated.

I love Marshawn and his personality.  He does what he wants and I respect that as long as he's not getting in any legal trouble.  I'm glad someone is sticking it to the media.

He's entitled to do what he wants, but it's borderline hypocritical to stiff arm the people that made him famous. Where would he be without the media? Also remember that his love for Skittles, a company he now promotes for money, was revealed in an interview with the media. For a pro athlete to diss the media is just hypocritical.

Also, as an aspiring sports journalist, this just rubs me the wrong way, and I know journalists all over are salty about this.

I don't understand this hate for the media. Which is so general in itself. But if it wasn't for the media coverage of the sport there wouldn't be billions for owners or millions for players. Makes zero sense for any player to be anti media. He is a professional. It's part of his job to not act like a spoiled teenager. I'm glad he's getting fined.

Hopefully it bites him one day and keeps him out of the hall of fame.

Bingo!

Not to mention, the media's primary role in pro sports is to serve as a platform connecting players to the fans that pay their salaries. It's all about keeping the fan informed, entertained, and connected to the players. Sports journalism is unique in that it's less about the facts and more about the personality.

Well there are all kinds of media. Tabloid journalism is the worst kind of. Different journalist have different kind of ethics, standarts and borderlines. Some of them are twisting words a lot and some do have a good professional approach. But in todays journalism it's the clicks that counts, so todays news are what they are and I understand why some many celebrities have problems with the media. I mean how many times we read some news that actually has nothing to say about anything really? Like empty news with lots of words.

I know it comes with the territory, but sometimes enough is enough and some people just don't like to be in the spotlights all the time. But this is just my opinion. I like the guy and his unorthodox style with the media. I would call Marshawn an earth-bound kind of a person. And actually ironically his attitude gathers him more fame now than if he would actually have real answers and I think the media actually likes it because this thing grows bigger, yes, more clicks!

Of course I understand the others side of the "problem" but maybe this thing is getting bigger than it should. First world problems I would say.

I agree. Love Marshawn. Wish we could bring him to Bmore, where players (Sr, Jacoby) are encouraged to just be who they are.

I honestly believe he couldn't care less about the HOF...Part of the reason I respect him.

I'd love to hear his induction speech though haha

"NFL Media's Aditi Kinkhabwala asked Lynch after the loss if the running back was surprised he didn't get the ball. "No," he replied.

When pressed further why he wasn't surprised, the running back known as "Beast Mode" said, "because football is a team sport."

That response is one reason Lynch's teammates love him. He never throws anyone under the bus -- even if that play call warranted coaches to be sent under a 16-wheeler."

Gotta love this guy and I honestly feel bad for the Seahawks and Marshawn (I hate the Cheaters and I like the Seahawks and Lynch) who should have run for the win IMHO. But it is what it is and this is a team sport.

As much as I want to say it was dumb to not run the ball is it unfair to say maybe the team trusted their QB to throw a 1 yard slant? That being said it was a bit risky but had it been caught it would of been "clutch". I do wish Lynch had run in it there and ended the Pats season though. Love running backs.

I don't get how people can hate on Lynch.  He stays out of trouble, he doesn't disrespect other players, he just does what he enjoys and that's it.  Fans have called out players like Terrell Owens, Ray Lewis, Chad Johnson, etc for "wanting to be in the spotlight" and then call out a guy who doesn't want any extra attention.

There are thousands of NFL players and most of them are happy to do interviews.  I can't hate on a guy because he'd rather not do one.  Lynch is a great guy to me.  Rumors about Lynch faking injuries in college so Forsett could get carries weigh far heavier to me than not wanting to do interviews.

I just read a very interesting article about Lynch and a recent interview that he gave in Turkey.  He said something about as to the possible reason why he didn't get the football on the last play in the Super Bowl.  My friends and I spoke in length about this for a few days after the Super Bowl was over and we all had the same thoughts as Lynch.  Here it is....

That's what a lot of people were speculating

"I had no problem with the decision of the playcalling. I mean, you know ... I think it was more of a ... how do I say this? When you look at me, and you let me run that ball in ... I am the face of the nation. You know, MVP of the Super Bowl ... that's pretty much the face of the nation at that point of time. I don't know what went into that call. I mean, maybe it was a good thing that I didn't get the ball. I mean, you know, it cost us the Super Bowl. I mean, I have full ... I have full confidence in my teammates to execute that plan because we've done it so many more times. But would I love to had the ball in? Yes, I would have.

I didn't get what he meant in the part I bolded, though. Maybe it's just weird transcribing but that doesn't make sense to me.
