Will Hill Under Warrant for Child Support

81 posts in this topic

As far as I understand the law for employers, all the mother has to do is file an Earnings Withholding Order with the employer, which currently would be the Ravens. She may never have done this but the employer is obligated to pay the child support from the paycheck directly to the mother. I would assume the normal laws would apply. So the best guess is that the Earnings Withholding Order which is easy to obtain if she had a court order for child support was not sent to any teams he played for? Any lawyers out there with a definitive on the law? But that's what I think the law is for a payroll deduction

Compared to other possibilities of things that could happen, this is pretty light actually.

Sorry, no. Neglecting to pay child support is absolutely horrible. Neglecting children is FAR from pretty light. That is simply abominable. And over $16,000 in child support? That's quite a chunk of change for most people.

Hill signed a 1-year $570,000 contract with us for 2014. Your telling me that if he knew he had to pay for child support, he just didn't take $16,000 from the $570,000 and pay it? What was he doing with that $570,000 that was so important to ignore it?

I live in the real world, JO, unlike some people, and in the real world, some people are idiots, and some people are jerks. I hope Will is neither an idiot nor a jerk, but it is borderline naive to believe that he simply didn't know he owed that money. If it's a year past due, he knows about it.

It's like the 3rd time he's gotten in trouble for repeatedly missing child support payments.

Maybe we can do like B Mac the year after the lockout and take his money to pay for the child support before he even sees it

Did he get that money while he was suspended?  Or did he have to wait to take the field first?

The only way this doesnt completely tick me off is if it ties into his suspension some how.

I doubt he's cut over a family court matter.  It is frustrating that, it wasn't even 2 weeks ago when Harbs told him to stay out of trouble.  You're behind on CS for awhile before they put a warrant out on you.  So if this was true, he knew he was deliquent when he met with the coaches at season's end.  SMDH.

OAN:  The NFL should do a payroll deduction for all of their employees on ALL court ordered child support cases. It's a preventive measure that helps the players from getting in trouble.

I think that they do.  In order for that to occur at any job, they have sue for it.

Will Hill was arrested on Dec 21st 2013 on a warrant for outstanding child support payments ... Still played for the Giants that week. This recent warrant is from March of 2014 for the same issue; This is clearly not new news and the Ravens have been fully aware of the issue, being that he was signed in July 2014. He needs to fix this problem asap, but it should not be a big issue.

Dang, that does bother me though.  You getpaid like these guys do and CS payments should be a snap.  No excues.  If its not your child, you can afford a parenity test.

He was aware of the debt, just wasn't aware of the warrant at all.

This is a personal matter for him. Not really anyone's business. He didn't do drugs, beat anyone, or any real criminal activity that makes our franchise look bad. Yes, I agree it's not morally correct but definitely not as serious as its being made out to be. I don't have a doubt in my mind that he sticks around.

I remeber him posting a lot of pictures with his son this year so I'd Like to think it's more of a monetary issue than neglect issue. Still dumb laws

I got a lot of personal views I won't get into on this subject, but I don't think this is a big deal.

My thoughts exactly.

Like Calvin said, i highly doubt hes "neglecting" his kid. This is just a monetary issue. I don't see the big deal about it. I'm sure he'll pay it and move on. I'd rather it be this then him getting caught smoking weed again.

I'm glad you don't run the team. You would cut the player over a headline for any indescretion.

I'm not suggesting its a big deal, but lets not kid ourselves...

Given the guys history with not following the rules/law, he certainly hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt of writing this off as a "personal issue".

Since this is his 2nd warrant for CS, I'm willing to bet if he knew of the debt, he knew of a pending warrant.

If he was a steeler would you guys so easily dismiss this legal obligation?

Yes. It's not right to not pay child support, but that doesn't pertain to football and has never pertained to football. These are not politicians here. They're professional athletes.

Could be that he feels he's been taking care of his child quite a bit and he's spent enough time that he doesn't feel obligated to pay because he is very involved in his son's life. I won't pretend to know the reason, but it shouldn't be put out there for the football world to see

Wow, he doesn't need any more issues. This really isn't one, though, he'll just pay it and move on. It's not like he hasn't been helping his kid. Like others have said, the laws. ugh leave it to TMZ to bring up something as old as this like it's brand new news. I just hope this isn't the deciding factor in locking him up or 1 year deal lol even though we pretty much can guess.

We do not know that he has not been paying child support. This could be a matter of what the mother of the child thinks she can get under a contested support agreement vs what Hill has been paying while the contested amount works its way through the courts. It pains me to say this (since I am a woman) but I would need to know a lot more about the overall situation before I would think ill of Hill. There are some women that have secondary agendas behind actually having a child support amount that is fair for what the child needs. Example would be to send the child off to boarding school so she can get out of actually parenting the child and having day to day problems that come with having to be responsible for the child.

The impression I get from what I've read is that this is a different child/different woman from his current family. This is the same case he was arrested for in 2013. Looks like an on-going dispute.

If he is in trouble for that we would have to help him pay it. I would donate the first $100 lol Or would you wanna see Matt Elam and Brooks starting. Actually Brooks could be OK but is still unproven to be starter quality. My opinion we should sign Antrel Rolle and team him up with Hill again.

Is he a free agent?

There is a big difference between failure to pay child support and child neglect.

As someone posted earlier, Will Hill has posted tons of photo's on social media of him with his son.  From everything I've seen, it looks like he's being an involved father - which is more than you can say for many athletes who have children from unwed mothers.

Hopefully Hill can resolve this issue in an expedient manner.

Well it sounds to me that this might be another child.
