Super Bowl XLIX Discussion

I heard they kicked the crap out of the saders in a trial though, so maybe they have some youngsters ready to step up. Also I know I am in for severe disappointment in this years world cup arghhh.

We've been rebuilding for like five years now. But at least we've finally started looking north of Wellington for talented young players (still pissed to let Aaron Smith walk like that). We've talked about the World Cup, I suspect we're both in for a disappointment.

Oddly enough that was the ONLY interception thrown on the one yard line all season.... and it was the most crucial time to throw an interception.

Perhaps because, even when teams do attempt to throw off the 1 yard line, they don't try to jam the ball into coverage on a quick slant.

And my reds might be good this year and my bruins are starting to go good, but then in baseball my oakland A's will kick the crap out of my heart to make up for all my happiness.

Congrats on the victory

Oh, believe me ... I have been uttering these exact same words from the second that play sent Seattle down the tubes ... to my friends in the room, via text to others and now on this board. I did not steal the words from Emmitt Smith.

I think half of America at least has been saying it lol

Eli Manning be like, I'm the one behind the 2 in 4-2 when my Giants conquered the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 42 and 46.

You forgot "Ladies and Gentlemen, my client".

The other half has been saying, "eh, we'll take it".

It will be very interesting to see how Seattle reacts to this. I think it has the potential to cause this team to unravel. It is one thing to lose in heartbreaking fashion the way the Packers did, where there are a multitude of places to lay blame, both coaches and players. Or like our loss in NE ... where you can cleanse yourself by removing the offending individuals (Evans and Cundiff).

But when it is your head coach? When it isn't something you can just simply second guess, but something where the entire football world is saying to themselves, that the HC took a championship trophy from the players hands and threw it in the trash? That's going to be a hard pill for the locker room to swallow.

To be fair, that would have been Darrell Bevell who called the play. And that kind of talk sounds similar to the Spurs after their loss in Game 6 of the NBA Finals a couple of years ago.

Ratedr beat me to it lol. I do believe we are the only team to be undefeated in the Super Bowl as of now correct?

Correct. That title was guaranteed to the winner of SB47 (SF was 5-0 before they played us).

That OC for the Seahawks just became more hated than Cam Cameron ever was here with one play he will take to his grave.

Watch as it turns out Carroll made the call

I hated cheering for the Patriots. I think this was the worst Super Bowl in recent memory. I've always had someone to cheer for. This year I get stuck with the Seahawks and the Patriots. On one hand I have a team I dislike because of their constant "treading the line" and their tricks and their classless players, especially Brady who whines about calls all the time. On the other hand, I have the Seahawks, a group of thugs who show how immature and childish they are at the very end of the game when things don't go their way and they act like a bunch of jerks.

I really hated this Super Bowl.

Uh No. Don't do that. They call us the same things, Dont promote that "Thug" nonsense because at the end of the day its a bunch of casual racism.

I smell a bokkies 3rd cup which makes me feel ill.

Well, maybe it's not the best word to use, but I was hardly being racist with that comment. I'd really tread carefully there because that can really cause some problems by claiming something is racist. I was more or less trying to imply their immaturity, hitting people and starting fights when there was no reason to do it after they lost. That's not a well-disciplined football team and certainly is a "hitman" mentality, if you'd rather I use that terminology.

Someone here joked about it, but I haven't heard anything more concrete. Happy to be proven wrong though.

As has been said by others, this was Carrol's call ... and it is one thing to have a ball get loose and have the best 3 point shooter in history sink one ... it is another to have the championship in you hands, in your control and make a gaffe of historic proportion to give it away.

Another reason that I didn't want the Pats to win, their fans specialize in that. Did it against us and they did it against Seattle tonight too.

It was a thug like reaction, and bush league. Bad enough they blew the game, then they basically ruin their reputation. I agree, just a terrible SB all around. Worst play call in the history of the game, the fight, a washed up QB that played like pooh getting the MVP. smh

Perhaps it isn't proof .. but he certainly offered his rationale on why the play was run (which made absolutely no sense). So either he made the call, didn't make the call, but agreed with the rationale or is just taking the bullet ... not sure which.

Nonetheless, it isn't like a kicker missing a chip shot, this is a fundamental breakdown on the sidelines that cost a team a championship. No matter how you slice it, unless the team shows some character, this could be poisonous.

I mean, how well do you envision Lynch handling this?

It really urks me when people use the word thug and it most cases when its used it is casual racism that aside. Can you really blame a team for being angry and having high emotions after losing a superbowl in the most BS of ways. I've played a number of sports and its very easy to get into an altercation for no reason but you have alot of bad feelings. Hitman mentality? The ravens like to give a good smack in the mouth too.

The seahawks def. can be immature off the field and I agree with you there but lets not be hypocrites.

Heartbreaking loss, scratching my head at the idiot play call.  Not sure how to react, as I'm becoming more and more frustrated at the Patriots obvious cheating, and how we could have been in this game.  I'm bumming out guys! lol

Never watch First Take

I actually enjoy First Take. I think they have interesting opinions outside of the times they are  pushing Espn's agenda. Besides you cant take it too seriously I can tell you that the hosts dont.

Feel good story coming out of the Super Bowl:

Definition of going from worst to first: TE Tim Wright and LB Jonathan Casillas both were traded from Tampa, which owns No. 1 pick, to NE.

Let's not forget their acquisition of LB Akeem Ayers from the Titans which owns the No. 2 pick. On the other hand, Logan Mankins went from first to worst when the Patriots traded him to Tampa!
