Super Bowl XLIX Discussion

Nope. Goes to the guy who's got the trophy literally attached to his name

It's between St. Vincent :P and Bill Walsh to me. Walsh invented the West Coast Offense and build a team, that would win 4 SBs. Belichick lacks the impact on the league both of these guys had. Not sure, if I can put him over Shula, Landry or Brown either. A perfect season, the flex defense and basically building 2 NFL teams. I can't see how Belichick would be more important than those guys. -_-

So will there be a "dynasty" this decade? I'm starting to seriously doubt it. Thought the Seahawks had the best chance out of anyone to win 3 titles this decade. I guess it may just be a continuation of the Pats dynasty.

There were reasons it would suck if either side won imo. Seahawks being able to to what even the 2000 Ravens couldn't, Brady winning again, Seahawks joining us on the list of multiple SB winners to not lose one, Patriots fans being happy, etc.

True it's not as bad as the Steelers having us win and losing their sole spot in the "six wins" club, but this was one of those games I wished they could both lose.

Seattle lost to Pittsburgh in 2005. They are now 1-2.

'

That was a back-handed compliment to me man.  Means nothing!  They were down by 14 pts 2xs to the Ravens and STILL won...just like they did this game by only being down 3 pts near the end.

As much as I despise Brady I'm going to have to disagree with you. It's pretty much a compliment. Even if one wants to say they're still obsessed with us after winning the SB. Means we're in their head, not a bad thing.

Cause Green Bay would've been beaten by more cause their defense is worse?

Rodgers would've put up 30+ easily

But how much would that defense have given up? Defense wins championships. Rodgers don't have a good defense.

Brady can't go on forever. Garoppolo seems better than Mallett, but I can't see them having as much success without Brady.

pats winning seems back to normal for espn to me. it's not like the pats are all in ya face about their winning. The seahawks would never let you let it down and half the team would be interviewed by stephen a smith and with the pats it will only be skip running his mouth.

granted I stopped watching espn 2 during the ray rice issue whe they suspended SAS because of a debate show and let Michele Beadle put him in time out...but I still remember how that fake show worked.

The only possible positive that can come out of this is Brady and Bill calling it quits now that they finally won it all. Not getting my hopes up. Watch Brady be like "i can't quit now, im tryin to get more SBs than Montana!"

I forgot that, and I actually respect the Seahawks because I feel we have a common enemy because of that loss. A Seahawks win still wouldn't have had the same shine as it did last year, mind.

Ratedr beat me to it lol. I do believe we are the only team to be undefeated in the Super Bowl as of now correct?

You mean Seattle joining us in being undefeated in Super Bowls? They are actually 1-2 now in Super Bowls. Loss to the Steelers in Super Bowl 40, beat Denver and now a loss to New England.

Wasn't even a compliment to me, he was rubbing it in. Not even sure why we're on their mind after a Super Bowl win. Can't stand them.

Well, that's why it is called a "back-handed" compliment.....cause it's not one really!  And his mentioning the Ravens after a win was no different than Harbaugh (after a win) mentioning that the Steelers had lost after beating the Ravens the previous week.  Like you, I have a HUGE disdain for the Patriots almost as I do the Steelers.

Agreed. Fortunately, Super Rugby starts up again soon and the NZ networks couldn't give two [crap]s about the Patriots and Brady.

And my reds might be good this year and my bruins are starting to go good, but then in baseball my oakland A's will kick the crap out of my heart to make up for all my happiness.

I think Bill wants to win one without Tom, just to prove he made him and not the other way around.

That was in my mind ... without any doubt the worst coaching decision in the history of pro football.

Sadly the Hurricanes still look to be fringe playoff contenders at best, and we may be taking a step back as the new coach adjusts.

Man, now that I think of it I really can't wait for the NFL Draft. Not like my Orlando Magic are doing anything relevant atm either.

Well I don't mean I think the Pats will win three in this decade. I mean, like the Pats dynasty now includes four SBs and lasts through the 2000s and the 2010s. Kind of like how the 49ers dynasty lasted through the 80s and 90s because they won four SBs in the 80s, but also won one in 94. Only difference is, the Cowboys won 3 in the 90s and had a dynasty of their own during that decade.

I'm not sure anyone is going to win three titles in the 2010s alone. Maybe teams like the Seahawks and Packers have the best chance to do it, with us being 3rd. What with there being more parity and free agency being a bigger factor than ever, it's harder to maintain consistent success on a year in and year out basis now. I really don't know, lol.

I heard they kicked the crap out of the saders in a trial though, so maybe they have some youngsters ready to step up. Also I know I am in for severe disappointment in this years world cup arghhh.

Usually a slant at the end zone is a very good call, stuff happens

What? You cannot be serious. With time outs in your pocket, on 2nd down from the 1 .. .you possess the best power back in the NFL, you possess a QB with great elusiveness and rushing skills and you empty your backfield and throw a slant? Even if you want to surprise the opposition with a pass, then line Lynch up in the backfield, play action, roll out and hit your TE if he's left uncovered. If the TE isn't open and you have room, QB runs it in, If neither, you sail the ball out of the end zone and you have 2 more tries.

Force the ball into the middle of the field on the 1 yard line where the field is packed. That's just crazy.

I hated cheering for the Patriots. I think this was the worst Super Bowl in recent memory. I've always had someone to cheer for. This year I get stuck with the Seahawks and the Patriots. On one hand I have a team I dislike because of their constant "treading the line" and their tricks and their classless players, especially Brady who whines about calls all the time. On the other hand, I have the Seahawks, a group of thugs who show how immature and childish they are at the very end of the game when things don't go their way and they act like a bunch of jerks.

I really hated this Super Bowl.

Eli Manning be like, I'm the one behind the 2 in 4-2 when my Giants conquered the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 42 and 46.

Plays like a demi god with his 1980s prom night haircut and his christmas sweater model look and then looks garbage in every other game. NFL Logic.

That was in my mind ... without any doubt the worst coaching decision in the history of pro football.

Oddly enough that was the ONLY interception thrown on the one yard line all season.... and it was the most crucial time to throw an interception.

That was the worst play call I've seen in the history of football.1f61e.png

Oh, believe me ... I have been uttering these exact same words from the second that play sent Seattle down the tubes ... to my friends in the room, via text to others and now on this board. I did not steal the words from Emmitt Smith.
