Super Bowl XLIX Discussion

960 posts in this topic

After months of play, the Super Bowl is finally here! The Seattle Seahawks made a miracle happen in Green Bay, after being down 16-0 at half and coming back to win. Seattle is now looking to win back to back Super Bowls for the first time since their opponent did it 10 years ago. This marks the Patriots 6th Super Bowl under the Brady/Belichick era, after winning 3 they have since lost two Super Bowls.

In fact, the Patriots have a chance to redeem themselves as they return to Arizona, the site where the perfect season dream came crushing down thanks to the Giants, and also in Super Bowl XLVI.

Discuss away.........

Seahawks 34

Patriots 17

MVP: Marshawn Lynch

A cluster mess of a Super Bowl no matter what.

As much as it pains me. I say Pats by a lot.

I want nothing more than to be wrong.

What we're talking bout the SuperBowl. Holy crap. Shaaazam!!

I'm worried bout Thomas and Sherman's injuries and hoping they're able to keep up with Gronk and the rest of the wideouts. Bobby Wagner and the rest of the front 7 are gonna keep Blount in check. Russell Wilson is gonna have to play a turnover free ballgame but the way he held up and got redhot against the Pack sold me on the fact that you better not sell this guy short(except on his height. lol.) Also the Pats front 7 is gonna have to man up on Lynch but I'm predicting 2 big runs and then he's gonna refuse to talk to the media after the ballgame.

Beast Mode vs Blunt Force. OOOOOhhhh Yeah!!!  :D

Halftime, Seattle 28 Pat 0.

As soon as second half starts, boom there goes the lights out.  After the lights back on, the Pat storms back and evens the score 31-31.  Under 2min, Tom Brady leads the Pats for the winning drive, but close to the end zone, he throws an interception to Sherman.

Sherman runs to Brady and says "You mad, Bruh!"

Brady replies, "hell yeah! I threw the interception cuz one of my coach assistance accidentally gave me one of your balls"

I would be very surprised if this game is close. The Patriots should win by about 20 points. The Seahawks have no answer for Gronkowski. They were owned by good tight ends this year. The patriots corners can easily handle the Seahawks receivers one on one. Allowing them to stack the box and keep lynch and wilson in check.

At Media Day, Patriots RB Blount was asked about his reunion with the Patriots after getting cut by the Steelers. Now Yahoo has formed some theory that he and the Patriots conspired to reunite in NE.

"Did you know you had a job with New England before you left Pittsburgh?"

Long pause. Big smile. No answer.

"Why would you leave if you didn't know in the back of your mind that they were waiting to call you?"

Big smile. Subtle laugh.

"I didn't know nothin'," Blount said.

One more laugh.

The only problem wrong with this theory is Blount had to pass on waivers and they had to know nobody would sign him off waivers. Then again, did they tell him to do things that would make Pittsburgh release him and other teams not want him so he could pass through waivers? The fact Blount just laughs and doesn't really answer says a lot.

These people sure can make a conspiracy out of nothing, he's clearly happy that he got cut from pittsburgh and instead of losing at home to baltimore in the playoffs he's in the superbowl. I say pats 24-20 win but I have no idea this game could go in any direction.

I'm hoping something like 24-13 Seahawks, with Brady throwing multiple ints.

Pats, I respect you as poster, but damn it I hate your team. If the Patriots win, I'll be happy for you, but that would be were it ended.

Heh thanks, well if we win this one I would be satisfied as a fan for the next 5 seasons at least to be honest.

Even giving Brady throwing an early pick, what about this match up favors the Seahawks? I just don't see it. The patriots may run the ball a lot as well. Seattle has not been defending the run that well either.

This might well be the first super bowl in God knows how many years I turn off early.

I just DO NOT want to watch the pats blow out the sea hawks.

Seattle stacking the box against the run and then sending 4 man rushes with press coverage to disrupt the quick pass could be a pretty effective strategy on defense. I see this one being pretty low scoring which means get ready for a great shootout lol

Better defense and a team that can run the ball. The offense is good enough to compete And as much as I'd made about the skill players on the Hawks, they're more than capable. I think people are hung up on the game last week against a team that they've played a fair amount of times the past few years. Remember this, as bad as the offense was, with 4 turnovers they still held one of the best offenses to 22 points. The Hawks will slow down the shirt passing, something that if this team was capable of would probably have the Ravens in the SB. I want a Seahawks blowout but expect whoever wins to only do so by 1 score.

Said the same thing last year though...

This is a silly thought, but part of me doesn't want the Seahawks to win because for some reason, in the future, I can't see me scrolling through a list of recent Super Bowl winners and seeing

2012 Ravens

2013 Seahawks

2014 Seahawks

2015 Ravens

Just wouldn't look good for us is all lol.... There's also a ton of other reasons I can post for both teams....Sucks I can't really root for anyone.

As the Lynch turns..... today's quote from Lynch:

“All week I done told you all what’s up. And for some reason you all come back and do what you did,” Lynch told the assembled media. “I don’t know what image you all are trying to portray me, but it don’t matter what you all think, what you all say about me. Because when I go home at night, the people I look in the face, my family, that I love, that’s all that matters to me. So you all can go make up whatever you’re going to make up”

Lynch indicated that it angers him that reporters won’t respect his privacy.

“I come to you all’s event, you all shove cameras and microphones down my throat,” Lynch said. “I ain’t got nothing for you all. . . You all will sit here doing the same thing. I’m here preparing for a game.”

Lynch set a timer on his table and sat there for only five minutes. At about the two-minute mark, he indicated that his patience was already wearing out.

“I’m not about to say nothing. So for the remainder of my — what’s that, three minutes? — because I’m here, I’m available for you all. All my requirements are fulfilled. So now for the next three minutes I’ll just be looking at you all like you’re looking at me.”

Personally I want to see the Seahawks win so in the post game celebration, Lynch says this to a NBC Reporter:

"I'm retiring from the league so I don't get fined"

Pats needed everything to beat our practice squad corners. They'll be lucky to score 20 on Seattle. Hawks win by a TD.

I don't think they have an answer for Gronkowski whatsoever. Who on Seattle is going to press him with no help? I think you're right that they'll have to stack the box to stop the run because they've been vulnerable there. Leaving more room for Gronk. I'm also sure they are going to challenge Sherman's tackling ability with a few quick hitters early to test out his health. I just don't see Seattle being able to attack New England the way Joe can if they take away the running game.

Seattle doesn't have nearly the pass rush we do. Not even close. I don't see Seattle matching up with Gronk.
