2015 NFL Off Season & Free Agency (Other Teams)

Securing his financial future? Really? The guy will be making millions, and baring some freak horrible injury, that's MORE than enough to secure his financial future. Most people in this world would be just fine getting by with a million or two let alone a couple million. I'm not mad at him, I just find in ridiculous how players feel they need all this money and would rather choose that sometimes over winning. Heck if I played in the league winning would be more important than my paycheck, cause at the end of the day, wins speak more than how much money you make. I could make hundreds of millions to play on a team but if keep losing and not getting anywhere I would be ticked off and could care less that I'm making 100 million dollars. Don't players play to get to the Super Bowl anymore, or is a SB win second to money now? I know he has already won a ring, but how about pushing for more rings?

Easy to say on your more regular salary with your more regular lifestyle. And you'd be surprised by how little actually hits the players' hands, after taxes, agents fees, manager fees and financial advice for those who take it. Point is that it's easy to say you'd handle a situation one way when it's not even close to affecting you.

seeing almost every decent FA get overpaid makes me think the nfl needs to implement a rule similar to the NBA's larry bird exception, something like if you resign a player you drafted you should get a 20% discount of cap space off the actual worth of the contract, as of now the nfl is just punishing teams who draft well.

I love how fans are always in players pockets. How about we start comparing our jobs here to people living in shanties in 3rd world countries. By comparison we make a lot more than them, doing much easier jobs. Computers and cell phones aren't necessaries yet how many people do you know without them? My point os, you don't know these people's expenses and you only have so long to cash in.

Patriots not re-signing Revis.

With McCourty being re-signed, how could they? Revis is going to get a JJ Watt type contract.

Texans have cut Andre Johnson

Hopefully we show some interest in him. With how our receiver corps is looking right now. Johnson and a high draft pick for WR would be nice.

Yeah I thought so too, just reporting it here.

I'm not attacking your post at all, just confirming that I thought it would happen

Yeah because Im sure Suh is going to lose so much money and has so many expenses that he needs 114 million for it all....

No, your right, I don't know players expenses and such, but when I see some players buying really expensive lambos and Mercedes cars, you mean to tell me that's a big expense that's a need? Yeah, I don't have any right to tell people what to spend their money on, but open your eyes. Look at these players buying expensive cars and big huge mansions and then come back and tell me they need millions of dollars cause of expenses and such. But I guess these players (or should I say some of these players, cause it's not all) need all this money so they can live their lavish lifestyles. And no I'm not saying Torrey is like this, I'm just mentioning a few other players. I can understand they need the money for medical bills, future medical expenses due to the toll their body takes, etc; but you can't deny some players out their just blow all their money on unnecessary stuff.

Dwayne Bowe could be a cheaper alternative, if he gets cut by the Chiefs.

Apparently, they are not taking second year $20 mil option but are said to still negotiating with Revis' agent.

Not going to deny that, but you can say that about regular people as well. People don't need to go out for dinner. They dont need to drink, go to the movies etc. You get what you can, when you can. I'm surprised there isn't more of an outrage over owners who make way more than them and are able to do it until they're senile, sell the team or die.

When was the last time Bowe even caught a td pass? Thats a serious queston by the way...

I'd rather have Andre. I think he'd come here hungry and he's more reliable. I think he's probably a better leader as well and would give us that big wr we've been waiting for, even if he's a little seasoned. Would also prefer to play with AJ in madden over Bowe.

Wait. Wasn't FA supposed to start Tuesday? Because it feels like it already has

Remember these are just agreed in principal before Tuesday. If I was the teams I would be severely pissed at the agents releasing these early. There's nothing stopping another team from swooping in and sweetening the deal and swiping a player.

2013 against the Redskins. That's why we would get him cheap. Btw, when was the last time Bowe played with a legit QB?

ravens starting WR's in 2015

Andre Johnson

Dwayne Bowe

Steve Smith Sr

:-)

AJ would be huge for us. Don't get me wrong, but I can see it happening. We don't have the money for it. Indy makes too much sense for him. Heck, I bet Seattle could give him a better deal.

4 years ago, if our WR looked like this, OMG Joe would have thrown for 6000 yards and 74TDs

Good points, but I've just never been that big of a Bowe fan. I get he's cheaper, but I'd rather get Andre and draft a guy for the 3rd spot. That rook and whoever we have now could learn a lot from him and Steve, then when he's ready, he could phase out either of the 2. Whoever we pick up between them, I don't see as a long term solution, regardless.

I don't understand why there's any outrage at all. There's plenty of people wasting money all over the world at every income level. Has nothing to do with what their profession is. Owners earned their billions to buy the teams and get in the exclusive club. Players earned their millions and everyone knows exactly how much money is going to be spent. There's a floor and a cap now. 143 million x 32 teams. Give or take a small amount. How it's spread around and distributed is up to the teams. The Dolphins for example are highly unlikely to get a roi on suh of any wins at all. He's taking up a large portion of their space in an area the team was already strong in. The Bills inexplicably give McCoy who was already well paid and under contract at 10 mil 6 mil more? Poor allocation of resources. Why these teams can't get out of their own way. Ravens will be criticized. But their way of doing things produces results.

I wouldn't say I'm outraged, I just don't get how some players would rather take a bunch of money and go to a really crappy team; instead of taking a few millions less to stay with a team that has more of a consistant shot at the SB yearly. I always thought the whole point of the NFL and playing sports is to win and win it all, so why choose to go to a team that doesn't really have a shot at going to the SB or winning a lot for that matter (not saying the 49ers don't have a shot, but it doesn't look good with key pieces leaving or retiring)?...

For the same reason I'd jump ship to a rival company if offered a higher-paying job, despite said rival having a reputation for being uselessly run. I don't see the problem with players going to whoever pays them, they only get one career.

And you and I and most people here would go for $10-20K/year but they are asked to resist $2-3 mil?

There's also something to be said for thinking you can be the guy to turn a team around. It's not like teams stay good or bad in the nfl. Pride can be big too.
