[News] Ravens Hire Marc Trestman As Offensive Coordinator

339 posts in this topic

they'll do it even if you win 5 straight superbowls.

Not sure about that... Castillo was called everything a season ago - and then, when the O-line got their act together and worked like a clockwork, none of them came saying good job, Juan...

But hey, let's first win those 5 rings and then we'll see :D

Is anyone her forgetting how bad Gary Kubiak sucked as a HC? Both men share one quality. They have great systems with nobody to execute it and nothing but QB questions and incompetence to work with. Like Kubiak he's kiely to flourish as OC because he doesn't has thr stress of holding the whistle. Ozzie knows this guy and what he brings.

He runs a west coast off, so that's a good thing... I think that was the priority, not changing again...

Yeah, that's my guess too. More of a "continuity" than Gase would have been.

Maybe even Flacco had a say in it? Who knows...

Oh great. This guy was an unmitigated failure with the Bears and he looks like a pedophile to boot. I look forward to pointing out all his mistakes the next two years, getting a ton of downvotes for it, and inevitably being right in 2017.

wonder if he will coach the senior bowl this sat.

You mean the Pro Bowl?

I would think so - provided they strike the deal and sign the contract (if it hasn't yet happened.)

We need to trust the Ravens brass on this. So welcome aboard, Marc. You have almost all the paint and brushes you need. Now go paint a beautiful picture.

He didn't suck THAT bad, probably mainly because he didn't have to battle his QB all along. I have the strange feeling that if Trestman had a Schaub-quality, but cooperative QB, he would have had much more success with the Bears tzhan with Cutler...

Hmm, not sold on Trestman. I hope Steve and Oz saw something in him other than John's friendship. Remember, John kept Cameron around for all those years because of his friendship, just saying. I hope this works out great for us and Him as well. Go Ravens.

Pretty worried honestly, but I do think this could be either good or bad. Hopefully it ends up as a good fit; I know for certain he can't be a worse OC than he was a head coach.

Interesting.

To be honest, I was looking forward to seeing what the front office would bring as a off. coordinator. I think Joe will work well with him. But, as everything, it remains to be seen on the field.

Welcome to the Ravens, Mr. Trestman.

as a MONTREALER and also a fan of the montreal allouettes, I am very EXCITED to see what he will bring to the offence. Winning 3 grey cups in 9 years in montreal and constently keeping our offence ranked in the top 2 of the league!!! As a die hard ravens fan and someone who has watched him coach for many years I can tell you this--> its a great pick up for the Ravens organisation!!

Great -

Another retread- Can we please get away from anyone who has bounced around the leagueover and over  because the couldn't get it done. This guy has more wear than a Mr.Tire trade in. Where is Earl Weaver when you need him.

newsflash dude:

there is almost no one in the league with a prominent position who hasnt had a job somewhere else in the league before. Tomlin is the youngest head coach in the league and he's 42. Welcome to the NFL.

I live in Montreal too and I follow the Ravens for the past 7 years (the year they drafted Flacco and Rice). Trestman is a smart football guy, I don't have any worry for our Ravens. The guy saying he preferred bringing back Caldwell doesn't know Trestman well enough. Don't expect Culter to throw less INT next year because Trestman is gone... That's the main reason why they were 5-11 this year.

Come on, you'e forgetting Castillo was fresh off destroying the Eagles defense (Wide 9 ring a bell?) before he came and turned our rushing attack into one of the worst in NFL history.  Don't sell him short.

Haha - just wait until the draft... and see the usual sea of couch-GM's crawl to light and call Ozzie inept after each pick... I still remember some of the comments he got for picking CJ Mosley...

And, of course, you never see them back saying sorry, I was wrong, you still rock it, Ozzie. Oh, no...

He got decent production out of an offense while starting Jay Cutler, Josh McCown, and Jimmy Clausen, I think that's notable

i will hold my opinion until OTA's, to see how receptive the players are to his schemes...but i do trust Harbs in bringing in someone who would build on what the offense did last year....Harbs really hasn't led us wrong with his hiring, and his record proves that....

I only said that those who came criticizing Castillo for the O-line's (indeed bad) performance in 2013 mostly stayed all silent when the O-line suddenly started to do its job real well.
