[News] Ravens Hire Marc Trestman As Offensive Coordinator

That is not true, and the numbers prove that. In both postseason games, the Ravens came out throwing from the start, and we put up 30 each time. The Ravens had more passing than rushing attempts in the first qtr, and in the first 3 qtrs in every game where they scored more than their season average. That's a FACT. We were very run heavy AFTER we built big leads.

Cam Cameron was the epitome of a run first OC. We were one of the most run heavy teams in the league when he was here, and Flacco had less than 500 attempts in 3 of his 4 full seasons with Cam. Does run, run, pass ring a bell? How'd that work out? Flacco had more passing attempts this year than in any season with Cam, and I don't think it's a coincidence that the offense also scored a lot more points.

Sorry, but I can't go back and forth with you on this!

Especially if we're going to argue the accolades of Cam, a guy who loved the vertical game and eventually had to go back to college ranks b/c nobody in the NFL wanted him!

This was the Ravens ( and Joe's) BEST, most productive season since even before the 1st SB win! Please don't start quoting Testaverde stats just to zing!

Have it your way, bud!

Are you sure? We had an almost-top 10 rushing offense in 2012, clocking in at #11(both total yards and YPC) in the regular season, and #5 in the playoffs.

Only yardage we got was chunks from B.P. ,

Rice had a couple of fumbles and was getting -1 to +2 on the reg.

I never said anything about Testaverde. I was talking about this season, and the numbers prove that the Ravens were pass heavy from the start in all of their highest scoring games, and they were run heavy in the 4th qtr. I looked it up and confirmed that. You can't deny facts.

You're right that this was Joe's best season, and he had more passing attempts than in any season with Cam. That's an undeniable fact as well.

Here's the Ravens' NFL rankings in RUSHING ATTEMPTS during Cam's 4 full seasons:

2008: 1st

2009: 7th

2010: 6th

2011: 8th

Here's PASSING ATTEMPTS:

2008: 30th

2009: 25th

2010: 24th

2011: 18th

So the Ravens were always in the top 8 in rushing attempts, leading the entire league once, and always in the bottom half, usually in the bottom qtr of the league in passing attempts. I would love for you to explain how Cam was not the definition of a run first OC.

I'm ambivalent here, I must admit. I watched what he did in the CFL as well as what he was able to do with Cutler. (Which, admittedly, wasn't much. But then again, we're talking about Jay Cutler...) I will admit to being worried, but I'm going to reserve judgement and doomsaying for when we're seven games deep next season.

Am I the only person thinking this????... WHAT A JOKE! This guy has bounced all over the place his ENTIRE career. Players hate playing for him and fans will soon too. Meanwhile the media is scratching to find nice things to say about the guy. Heres something... the guys a loser and doesnt work well with ANYONE. I went from excited for next year(when Kubiak was around) to unable to sleep with dismay and disbelief that we'd hire such a bum. We should have went with a young guy... here's to another wasted couple of years in baltimore... what a joke... Peace out. I wont be visiting this website for a long while

Sweet!  Go be a Steelers fan with your negativity.

He didn't suck THAT bad, probably mainly because he didn't have to battle his QB all along. I have the strange feeling that if Trestman had a Schaub-quality, but cooperative QB, he would have had much more success with the Bears tzhan with Cutler...

No disagreement here.  That's why i was saying that they both had decent systems but not the personell to carry it out.
